Cleveland calls us and wants to trade down from the 7th spot.
We trade them our 1st,2nd,4th,Marty B and 2011 3rd for their 7th overall.
We draft Eric Berry.
Ok jk. I would do that trade though...
Okay for real...
2nd Round(38th overall)-Nate Allen FS
We trade out of the first since Iupati and Earl Thomas are long gone and collect the Browns 38th,71st and 146th picks for our 1st. We have Nasty Nate and Hamlame battle it out in TC. Let the best man win. Hamlame is then cut.
2nd Round(54th overall)-Dexter McCluster Rb/Wr/Pr/God
Cincy calls and realizes no one they want at 54 overall is better than Martellus. They talked about a first for him earlier this year so you know they are interested in him. His value obviously dropped but we still take the deal. We agree to the trade, hang up the phone, then laugh.
2nd Round(59th overall)-Tyson Alualu-DT/DE
I've been hearing that we are really interested in this guy. Even though we are keeping Spears,Hatcher and Bowen this year, you have to look ahead. Tyson can play backup NT to spell Rat in 2010 and then possibly take over for Spears in 2011 when he is let go.
3rd Round(67th overall)-Sean Lee-ILB
Well it's the 2nd day in the draft and we got to evaluate our board and for some odd reason Sean Lee slips out of the 2nd. What a gift. To make sure we get him, we trade our 71st overall that we got from the Browns, our 4th and 6th rounders to the Bucs to move up 4 spots. The ILB position may seem a bit crowded but I'm hearing we have strong interest in him. Brooking and Carp could very possibly be gone next year. Also, who's to say Carp might not get cut this year with Lee emerging?
3rd Round(90th overall)-Marshall Newhouse-OG
I know the interest is there for this guy. With Holland being gone and Proctor still on the roster, there is no depth at the OG position. He could easily take over for Kosier in 2011 at LG. They like Bewster at RT. Whatever. I guess I'll have to trust them on that one.(even though he's a total Googler and JAG)
5th Round (137th overall)-Eric Olsen-C/OG
Even though it's a very shallow C draft, Centers do typically fall during the draft. At the top the 5th, I feel like it's pretty good value. He needs to get stronger but he's got plenty of time to do that. It get's Proctor off the team hopefully, but with Proctor having pictures of Jerry in dominatrix gear, I highly doubt it.
7th Round(234th overall)-John Connor-FB
You gotta love the name. I was never very much of a Deon Anderson fan and feel like we need a big bruising FB to gain short yardage. We may decide not to carry a FB this year to open up a roster spot but this just seems like a good pick for us in the 7th round
You may wonder why I traded Marty and didn't draft a TE. I'm thinking maybe that like how Hannah is coming along and feel he's ready for the 3rd TE spot.
