My I Can't Wait to Find Out if Dez Was Really Arrested or Not Mock

I think you are approaching the point of being just as disgusted as I am when it comes to fixing this line .

So Hostile, does this mock put you in the Rat to DE camp, or just getting better in trenches all together.
If you go back and look, I never mentioned Wade getting fired until the week he got fired. My TOH thread after the Jaguars Game did not bring it up. My TOH thread after the Green Bay game did and he got sacked. This despite the fact that I was then, and still am, an unabashed Jason Garrett for Head Coach shill.

I have never mentioned being on board with Rat to DE until this off season.

Sometimes I wait until I hear things before I start talking about it. I have never been opposed to Rat at DE. I just knew it was not going to happen, so I said as much. It now very likely will happen.

This is why I am never going to be on board with the get a new GM movements. I don't do futile stuff.

So if something won't change, you shouldn't think it should change?

He just doesn't waste his breath preaching about it like some of us. I know it won't happen just as much, but I continue to mention it being the single biggest and most glaring need. Hos just doesn't get down like that.

I saw Ryan Broyles play in person a lot while he was at OU. If Dallas has a chance to add him, I sure hope that they will. He is dynamic at returning punts, and in time, could contribute out of the slot. Hos, good offseason plan.

I literally don't care who the GM is. I care about how the team is run. I don't see how we are being run is an issue since other teams basically do the same things we are. GM is nothing more than a title.

Thus I am not going to fret over someone else having that title. I care more about the job being done by Judd Garrett, Tom Ciskowski, Stephen Jones, Todd Williams, the scouts, Jason Garrett and his staff.

Jerry got me Jason Garrett. Beyond that, everything else he does is in support of Garrett with the other decision makers involvement and they are football guys. I believe the pieces are in place to get back to where we need to be.

From that point Jerry means far less to me than he does to all of the rest of you detractors. You give him more power and credit than I do. I think he is a minor piece of the puzzle. Why else would a anal coach like Parcells actually enjoy working here?

Jerry Jones doesn't bother me, because I am not going to let him bother me. Contrary to popular opinion around this place, I do not defend him. I don't even much like him. I care only about two things as it pertains to him. He hires good football people, and he has right now; and he makes money for the team so the wallet is open to give us players. We are on our way in that one. A solid off season could deliver what we all want.

When it happens, I will not be crediting Jerry Jones. I will not be retracting statements like "we can't win anything as long as he is our GM." I will not give him credit for anything except those two things. Hiring Garrett and paying the salaries. He is a figurehead to me. Nothing more.

I like the draft. Four rookie starters and a 5th rookie who gets loads of snaps (as the 2nd TE) is ambitious, but nothing wrong with aiming high.

I miss Boykin from this mock (he'd be fun to watch), but you're are right, there are bigger fish to fry.

I'm not afraid of rookies. Especially talented ones.

I feel NT is going to be a rotation thing anyway, with Rat still playing there at times, but we need someone a little better than Brent. I like him, but he's not all I hoped at NT so improving is not above action.

Truth be told I'd use Ratliff at NT with Hatcher and Lissemore on Passing downs.

Except he isn't a figurehead. He's the General Manager of the team. That's kind of important. On the totem pole of power, he's at the very top. And when that guy offers you nothing in way of personnel expertise, your football team is severely effected by it in the negative. You're working shorthanded. To make things worse his son is the director of personnel. He too has no background in it. So we're another card short. This is really important stuff and absolutely the reason why we've gone so long without winning. I assure you it's not happenstance. It's not part of a cycle.

Again, like I've said before....even working on what I believe is your incorrect theory that he simply lets all his minions make the decisions, you are still without the benefit and expertise of a qualified GM who cut his teeth in personnel in this league. So you can't dismiss it and say 'we'll he listens to his staff...they point him in the right direction'. Yeah, in place of a guy who might actually have something informative to say. In place of a leader. In place of a chief scout and visionary for our football team.

That's the best case scenario. The worst case is he does make football decisions. The single least qualified voice in the room. If he didn't make them, he wouldn't refuse to give up the gig. What would be the point? He loses nothing since he's not doing anything with it under your scenario. The new GM would just be one of his minions making decisions.

Somebody who covets that power certainly loves it enough to use it.

I won't be crediting Jerry if we ever win under him either. I think I have this team and it's inner workings pegged. I'll never say we can't win with him, but I will say we can't win because of him. It'll take a head coach who can own his ear and do his job for him and an excellent support staff of coaches and scouts.

It can be done. But our hurdle is twice as high as 30 other teams in the league. It shouldn't be that way. It's all to appease one man's ego. You should be just as outraged by it as I am.

You have to trust rookies with the way FA has picked teams' depth all over the roster.

Sorry, but pass rush (and negating it) is the name of the game. I want two top-flight guards this year.

Yeah it would be horrible to have the oline fixed.

we would have wasted a draft pick on Arkin and time developing the others...

we have to trust those who are drafting to know their business and imho you do not take a guard at 14 when there are guards (if deemed to be needed) that can be found later in the draft at an almost equal skill set to Decastro who I believe isn't going to be a better pro than that the guard from Georgia who's name escapes me now or others 2 or 3 years down the road...

I like the idea of signing Nicks but I like the idea of manning the other spot from in house amongst the 3...it creates competition..if you than draft DeCastro you have effectively removed any real competition and in the end have accomplished nothing...because you have removed that positive energy that comes from competition from the the team.

now you may ask why is it different on the defensive side of the ball...

First off you would be setting a precedence by signing a guard at spot 14 for most teams through out the history of the draft...I really can't think of any but I am sure there is probably a hand full who have been drafted a guard at 14 or higher...

When something like that is done than you are effectively saying is that this is a generational guard who we have thought so much of that we have spent our 14 pick of the draft on...which would leave the team looking rather silly if Arkin turns out to be better than him...so competition isn't going to be encouraged outside of lip service to it.

2ndly with the mass turnover expected on the defensive side of the ball there may not be much competition there till the next year or so anyway.

now if we do not sign Nicks or an expected FA guard (starter) than drafting DeCastro makes more sense since you will still be having competition for a starting job

so what I am saying is I like one or the other but not both...my preference would be to sign Nicks and draft defense with the 14th pick.

The only thing I really am going to add to what I have already said is this. Stephen and Jerry both played college football and have been doing this for 23 years each. That is cutting your teeth. Last time I checked there is not a college course in Football GM preparation. Tom Ciskowski and the others in talent acquisition cut their teeth in the right ways.

Regardless of those facts the guys on the field and sidelines are still the ones who have to work it out and succeed or fail and I do not for one minute believe our organization is failing at putting a good product on the sidelines or on the field. They have to go through the refiners fire and I think that is right.

Every team in the league has the same basic structure, just the titles are distributed differently. The Hoodie is Head Coach and GM. So what use was Scott Pioli? The same as Ciskowski, just a different title. Pioli's job in KC is basically the exact same one as it was in NE. He has more power now for only one reason, he no longer has Hoodie as an equal. He could fire Hoodie. Hoodie could not fire him. Ultimately it is really Kraft who calls those shots, yet he has no football title.

I don't see ego as a hurdle. To me that is a strawman for believing in supernatural forces conspiring to hold us back. Our guys play worse because our owner likes the spotlight. I'm sorry, I can't buy that. Every football team, every season is a gamble on potential. Not a gamble on a GM's ego.

DeCastro, Curry and Brewster alone would be a nice haul IMO.

Great plan ... somehow the fates wont allow it to happen tho ... always works out like that.

So Arkin is a backup rather then a starter; that is not a waste of a pick.

And frankly a lot of experts say no guard in this draft is really close to DeCastro at all. So your claim of that is without basis of fact at this time.

A Pro Bowl Guard is a big plus on any line and that is what DeCastro looks like he will become. Sit him next to tyron and we have one side of the line that is elite for the next 10 years.

Which is okay but than don't spend money on a FA guard...and you should never draft backups...not a good policy...and we will see in the long run if I am right about DeCastro...he might start out better but in the end I believe 3 or 4 may turn out to be better pros over their career. He reminds me of a young Kyle Kosier with more polish ... I was one of the few fans of the Cowboys getting Kosier from the lions but I still wouldn't give up the 14th pick for him...now if DeCastro is a once in a generation guard and winds up going to over a handful of pro-bowls than sure 14th is a great spot to draft him...but if not and he turns into a solid but not spectacular player than you wasted that pick imho...anytime you are in the top half of a draft you have to get a difference maker...again I just don't believe that Decastro is so much more of a difference maker than that kid from Georgia who I have to get the name for again or others... (it is where he is taken that matters) move down take him with the 28th overall pick and I will be fine with it as most impactful defensive players will be gone...impactful defensive players are hard to come by imho guards are not because it is not really a skilled position such as CB...you have to have a certain skill set to play it along with a certain body type...Guard you can have and have had many different types there that have been successful...that means you have a better chance of landing a good quality guard than you have of getting a good quality CB...so if you have the chance to get an impact CB over a impact Guard you have to take the CB each and every time same goes with a pass rusher though they have had many different body types there as well...but a good pass rusher requires heart and determination much as a good RB does.
