I hate the trade but its done. I should not expect more from Jerry and his son considering the history of Dallas trades but its still disappointing. As I have posted numerous times its not the player, Cooper, that's the problem. He is a good player and he's better than any receiver on the team. My problem is the 1st round pick we gave up. He is not worth it on this team right now. All this garbage about the Eagles and Commanders showing interest, first, I don't believe it. Second, the report is the Eagles offered a 2nd round pick. Any right thinking GM would believe the Cowboys second will be worth much more than the Eagles second by the time we get to April, with or without Cooper. If Dallas finishes 8-8 they will be drafting around 10-12 in each round. The Eagles are not going to finish 8-8. They will get to 9 or 10 wins and probably finish first in the division making the playoffs. Their pick will be in the 20s at best.

The Cowboys should have offered a 2 and let it go if the Raiders didn't take the deal. Given that Jerry went to a 1 tells me he thinks this team is close and that his problem is WR. That's just wrong. Teams don't load the box because they aren't worried about the Cowboys WRs, they load the box because they aren't worried about Dak throwing the football. Unless the real problems with the Cowboys offense are addressed, Cooper is not going to make a difference. The reason the Joey Galloway trade failed was not because Galloway was not a good player. It was because the Cowboys couldn't make use of him. They may be in a similar position right now with Amari Cooper.

So many things wrong in this post. First the Galloway trade failed because he got hurt not only that Cooper is 24. Second, eagles aren't winning the division. Their defense is what made them good last year and forcing turnovers giving their offense short fields. This season every team has moved the ball on them especially in the 4th quarter. Another thing is Dak can throw the ball and he has shown he can. Teams stack the box cause they know we don't have any receivers that beat 1 on 1 consistently, that changes with Cooper. Other than a few plays our offense is very vanilla and we run the same plays often. With the addition of Cooper you open the run game. With a couple plays every game we are sitting at 6-1. We have the best team in the division and Dallas will end up in first when it's said and done.

Or maybe he'll be great and we have a good season.

this trade was made to keep the fans interested and sell tickets and sell more jerseys until the qb play and coaching improves this team is what they are which is not very good

We will see how this trade goes...at first I didn't like it but the more I think about it the more I am liking it. I do however believe that even if Cooper's not lighting it up he will soften up the defense for everyone else. If our overall offensive production rises even a few points a game he'll be worth the trade.
We can win the division still, we can get hot in the playoffs if we manage to make it there, there's plenty of teams who get hot at the right time and win Super Bowls. Is it likely? No but it wasn't likely the Giants would've beat the undefeated Patriots but it still happened. Anything can happen. Most of the people who're angry about this trade are angry because now the first night of the draft will be super boring and they won't get to speculate all off season on who we're going to draft.
To me the biggest problem with this offense is the O-line, we go as they go and since ATL last year they've been playing very mediocre to bad.

The deal was made to improve the team and fill a huge need

Mission Accomplished

ACooper was the 4th overall pick in the Draft ....just like Zeke and has had one bad stretch..... just like Zeke.... he was banged up with knee, head and ankle injuries last year

I agree-- what good does it do to add a quality WR when our QB already can't hit the open WRs on the roster? Is Cooper worth a #1 for a WR needy team? Probably. Does he improve the quality of our WR corps? Absolutely.

The issue I have with this FO is their failure to identify the real problems on this team: 1. Coaching. 2. Bad QB play. This move does nothing to fix our glaring problems. Hope I'm wrong and this opens things up for the offense-- but I have my doubts.

I'm with you. I didn't like it at all at first, but I'm willing to see how it goes. After all, my only other choice would be to stop watching right now. And I'm trying to see the positive aspects of the deal as well, and the are several. My only wish at this point is that people be held accountable for the results, or the lack thereof. I don't want to hear any more excuses for Garrett, Linehan, or Dak Prescott. At some point, it's not "everything else", it's them.

Dumb trade by the Cowboys. We should have kept playing like we were and tanked. Now we will tank and. It have a first round pick. You never know which prospect will be available in top 10-12 picks. Who here wouldn’t take Watson at the 12th pick? We gave up a slotted fixed cost for 4 years for a WR who is not a number 1.

That’s not “a comment” OP.
It’s damn near a novel.

Agree hes not a one, This guy has been an underachiever his entire life

We have the best team in the division? By what objective measurement?

Furthermore, moving the ball hasn't been our problem. SCORING has been our problem. Outside the Jaguars game, we have scored at most two touchdowns in every game. We're settling for too many field goals. And the reason receivers aren't consistently beating 1 on 1 is that Dak isn't throwing the football. Do you know how demoralizing it is when you get open and your quarterback can't seem to get you the ball. Receivers stop running their routes with conviction, consistently.

As an aside, it's interesting how Alabama's receivers look great now that Tua is at quarterback instead of Jalen Hurts. Jalen couldn't get them the ball, which made them look average. Tua comes in and now it appears Alabama has 5-star receivers across the board.

Maybe Cooper gains Dak's trust, and he starts throwing the ball more. Great. But Dak is simply too hesitant to throw the ball into tight windows because he doesn't want to make a mistake. He has Cooper. Now, he has no excuses.

I believe many other teams were interested and we're willing to part with a 2nd round pick because it's been reported from sources other than the Cowboys.

That doesn't mean this is a good trade. He's a regressing underachiever being asked to salvage his career with a QB who can't play. Because this team is all in with that QB. That's what this trade is about. The QB. We get more of him, even to the extent of a new huge contract, and that is the absolute worst case scenario for this team.

My sentiment too. The trade is over and done with. If, indeed, all we need is a No. 1 receiver, then we need to start winning. PERIOD!
If we don't end up in the playoffs, then the results are squarely on 1.) Dak and 2.) Jason Garrett. 3.) Jerry Jones. I don't care about Linehan. Garrett controls him and decides if he stays or leaves - unless Jerry makes that call too.
I list Dak No. 1 because this offense is supposed to be Dak-friendly, and everyone has been saying all he needs is a legitimate threat at receiver. You now have your legitimate threat. No more excuses. No more missing or failing to throw to wide open receivers. PULL THE TRIGGER. We're not going to win simply on the feet of Zeke. We need to throw the ball.
Jason Garrett needs to be fired if he doesn't get this team into the playoffs. You have the offense. You have the defense, and you're not far out from the division lead with Philly twice, the Skins at home and the Giants who have already mailed in the season.
If you can't get to the playoffs with this defense, this running back and our shiny new receiver, you don't need to be coaching the Cowboys anymore.
Jerry is the other problem, but he's not going anywhere so we're stuck. But not with options 1 and 2.

Wrong, you are wrong on all of your points. He's not an underachiever his production went down when his QB(Carr) production dropped. Cannot blame the WR and leave the QB without any blame.

Gruden is trying to make his team for Vegas, complete rebuild in his mold, There will be some good players let go and traded. To rebuild fast you need draft picks, you are only allocated 7 a year like all other teams + or - comp picks. To gain an edge you have to stockpile, I wouldn't be surprised to see others move not necessarily at the trade deadline but this off season. Potentially the Boys got a player that can make a huge difference.
