This is my last mock, using the fanspeak simulator and CBS board....which was voted "most realistic" in my informal survey of 2-3 responders ;-).

27: R1P27 CB BYRON JONES, CONNECTICUT - I would trade down a few picks here and pick up a 3rd if possible
60: R2P28 RB TEVIN COLEMAN, INDIANA - My favorite RB not named Gurley. Complete RB who can take it to the house.
91: R3P27 DE FRANK CLARK, MICHIGAN - Bona fide pass rusher
127: R4P28 WR CHRIS CONLEY, GEORGIA - Fast and a kick returner.
163: R5P27 CB CRAIG MAGER, TEXAS STATE - Athletic small school CB
236: R7P19, QB CODY FAJARDO, NEVADA - Can run and pass.
243: R7P26, OLB MARCUS RUSH, MICHIGAN STATE - An overlooked pass rusher

So....1 top tier CB, One of the best RBs in the draft, 2 pass rushers (1 sure pass rusher), Fast Wr/Kr, and a long shot as Romo's eventual replacement. DTs and the swing tackle will have to come from the current roster and/or FA.

I like this. Not ecstatic about a CB in the first but nice nonetheless. Frank Clark's off-field problems worry me a bit though. I would certainly trade down in the first, if possible.

Does anyone remember that last years Defense was BAD on the DL? All these mocks that show total denial of the obvious. Notice there is one DE in the third round? No one seems to remember that one shot draft picks mostly do not hit the mark when trying to fill a need, so two or three picks for a position of need will hit on one of the picks. The big missing DL position was a DT who would either collapse the pocket or chase the QB out of the pocket for the DE to catch. I have lost all respect for the Mocks when these needs are neglected. Remember that games are won in the trenches.

We have need DTs the last two years... We have drafted one DT the last two years and that was Bishop in the seventh round.

Now look at the list of DTs the Cowboys have visited or brought in this year as draft prospects... Not many 1-3 round players in the mix... Heck not many DTs in the mix at all.

So many of these mocks are really reflective of who the Cowboys have shown interest in.

Just something to think about.

Hey, I drafted 2 pass rushing DEs in this mock and if the Boys do the same, I'll be very happy. Marcus Rush is also a DE. All of the good DEs in the first round were gone and you typically don't get top tier pass rushers after the first or second round. DE Frank Clark is a 1st or 2nd round talent with off the field problems and I got him in the 3rd. I don't think DT is is anywhere near as big a need as DE. CB is also bigger need than DT, as the Boys have only 2 that they can count on after this year, Scandrick and Patmon....all the others may be gone. Boys also have developmental DL candidates like Ben Gardner, Bishop and Boatright coming back. I would like to see them get a good 1T, but you cant fill all of the team's holes with 7 picks. We'll just have to see what Josh Brent has left in the tank and/or pick some FAs. Eddie Goldman is a 1T I would like to see the Boys get, but he was gone. I like this mock.

It is very close to realistic. The one issue is that Coleman is unlikely to be available at #60. He is generally regarded as the #3 RB. Most people think that the top 2 go in the 1st round. It is highly unlikely that the draft goes from the end of the 1st to #60 without a RB being drafted.

Some whispers are that a few teams might have Coleman ranked above Gordon.

Jones would be a terrific pick, IMO. He can defend big WRs which is a limitation for Scandrick.

Clark is better than Mario Edwards Jr. and Preston Smith, IMO. The 3rd might feel a little early to take the risk, but the Cowboys 3rd is almost a 4th.

A speed WR and returner is a need and Conley appears to fill it.

Mager is a good player with good measurable(s). If he had gone to a bigger college, he would be a much higher pick, IMO.

Rush was a really good undersized college DE. I'm not sure if he can get big enough to play DE, but it's worth a shot in the 7th.

This poster has been making a bunch of un-informed criticisms of almost all mocks, so just ignore him.

If the visitor list is any indication, the Cowboys probably won't be taking a DT. So if the poster doesn't like mocks that exclude DT, chances are he's going to be really disappointed with the actual draft.

Also factor in we dont use a 1 Tech in passing situations, we move a 3 Tech over ( IIRC more Crawford then Melton in 2014) and play with two 3 Technique in passing situations. Meaning any 1 Tech we draft, even the legendary Malcom Brown, comes off the field on 3rd and long

Not bad. Not bad at all, and looks like it could be pretty close to how things will go down.

And DE's also get moved to 3 technique at times. A SDE that could also play DT on passing downs makes a lot of sense in this draft.

The other issue is that Chris Whaley is equivalent to a pick in this years draft. I'm convinced that he would be a mid round pick in this draft. IMO, his game footage is as good as some guys I've seen ranked as 2nd rounders.

Also, while Josh Brent did play a few games, he was not really ready to return. With a full off-season and training camp he is like adding another player that was not available for most of last season. He is almost like adding a free agent this year.

They also have 2 DEs that have played a lot of snaps at DT in their career (Hardy and Mincey). The more DEs the Cowboys add, the more they can use those guys as situational DTs.

The bottom line is, IMO, DE is a much bigger need than DT.

Malcom Brown has not been on the invite list but I could see him being used as a 3 when they want him to be a 3.

And the invite list reflects the DE over DT scenario as well.
