- Here’s what concerns me. Bledsoe has had two games where he’s had adverse weather conditions (Oakland & Seattle) and he’s looked awful in both.
- I’d like to thank Cortez, Bledsoe, and Josh Brown for causing me to kick my dresser so hard that I broke one of the drawers and possibly my toe. Coincidentally, that’s harder than anything Jose Cortez has kicked all year long.
- I’ve been saying this since week 4, I really don’t have a problem with the playcalling until they get into the red zone. They either get too conservative or too cute. Just don’t be afraid to make a regular drop back pass on 1st or 2nd down instead of running it or calling some trick play.
- I don’t know if somebody can blame Zimmer. The nickel defense seems to work for the first 58 minutes in the game and implodes in the last 2 minutes. I *think* it may be due to them not being able to substitute and Ware not being that effective as a down lineman. Even still, it works for almost the entire game. I wish I could sit here and give an idea as to what needs to be done differently, but I can’t.
- Hmmm….I wonder where the “Roy is overrated” people are at? Wonder if JJT will call him a thief this year.
- I’m not saying the refereeing cost us the game (Cortez’s missed 28 yarder did), but that was an awful decision by the refs to pick up the flag on defensive holding. Everybody is in an uproar about the rise in penalties being called. That’s not the problem. The refs are missing many calls. The problem is that the refereeing is generally poor throughout the league. They miss calls, they make bad calls, and they are inconsistent.
- Hats off to Torrin Tucker and Larry Allen, the only O-Linemen to show up and play yesterday. Rivera and Pettiti were awful and Al Johnson got off to another slow start. I’m convinced the botched snaps are Johnson’s doing. I’m not going to praise Gurode, but there have been no botched snaps by him so far.
- Opposing kickers have made 94.3% of their kicks against the Cowboys in the Parcells era with the shortest missed kicked being from 48 yards.
- I thought Bradie James was superb.
- Long snapping was awful today, I counted 4 awful snaps, one that almost led to a blocked punt.
- I just don’t get this team. When you look at them from a statistical standpoint and all of the important stats such as sacks, turnover margin, rushing yards, etc it appears they should easily be atop the NFC East. Yet, here they are at 4-3. I believe the problem is that they have a lousy field goal kicker (has cost us 2 games so far), some questionable coaching moves, and some bad luck.
Yesterday was just one of those games were Dallas had control of the game, yet I just kept feeling this wasn’t there day. Think about these things for a second:
1. The rain clearly affected Bledsoe’s play yesterday and it’s the first time it has ever rained at Qwest Field.
2. The first INT was a helluva play by Boulware, but was more luck than anything. 99% of the time that doesn’t get picked off. Boulware takes it back and sets up a 55 yard field goal in the cold rain that Brown makes with ease.
3. The refs flag the Seattle CB for defensive holding on Witten in the end zone and then pick up the flag saying the contact was incidental. Not only a bad call, but it’s rare to see flags being picked up on fouls in the end zone as well. Then Cortez misses a 28 yarder, which would have won them the game.
4. Forget about the second Bledsoe INT, as bad as it was. Brown still had to drill a 51 yarder in the cold rain.
- My guess is that they win against Arizona, but it’s closer than it should be. The defense will have a letdown, the offense will keep them in the game, and this time around they win a close one.
