My Meaningless Thoughts on the Game...

One other problem I haven't seen anyone mention yet is that there's no leader on this team. The coaches can only do so much. This team needs someone that everyone respects, plays their *** off every week, and a great motivator. Like a Ray Lewis or Tom Brady. Players tend to listen to their peers more so IMO.

You forgot Leaf, Wright, and Stoerner.

Actually, Bledsoe looked damn good this preseason.

Unfortunately, both he and Romo have looked equally crappy in the regular season - which is also unfortunately when they count the games.

Why wasn't my post honest? Are you saying I'm lying? I'm just stating my opinion of the matter. Pardon me for not holding hands and singing "Kumbaya" after that atrocity last night. And I'm not too surprised you would take exception to my remarks since your posts on Bledsoe have been consistently negative. Not that I have a problem with that. I couldn't care less who likes who. But this notion that "oh well Romo stunk but it didn't matter, Bledsoe's terrible anyway so it was always hopeless" is where I have to shake my head in disgust.

IMO we win that game last night if Bledsoe stays in. It was a very winnable game until Romo started giving away 17 points. After that? After that you try to improve. 3 of the 4 sacks on Bledsoe he had no chance, players coming in clean. That won't win with any QB so that has to be cleaned up. As does the defenses penchant for giving up big plays. But if any of you people are annoyed that I don't want to stand in the line for "I'm so excited, our QB can move and make plays! WHO CARES IF THEY'RE FOR THE OTHER TEAM HE'S NOT BLEDSOE SO DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD.:bang2:

no I am not calling you a liar that is just your opinion... as far as the "truth" of it I don't believe any of it...but than that is my opinion...

I don't believe it is "hating Bledsoe" as you said... that to me seems far to silly a concept to be plausable...as I said elsewhere it was the hope of the future ( "Romo" thou it may not be him at all just the future) and tossing off the yoke of mediocrity (Bledsoe) that has many giddy as schoolgirls on their first date... imho we lose that game with Bledsoe who throws another 2 picks and has another 6 sacks and 2 fumbles and never gets us in scoring position again

I'm not calling Romo "hopeless" Zax. I'm saying the proclamations of "hope" after a shabby performance ring hollow.

I know what you are saying Hos...

that Romo's performance wasn't anything to write home about... and I agree to a certain point

but what I am saying is that to some of us...it was the most beautiful sight in the world it meant an end to suffering the pains of mediocrity and thus giving us hope...I think that is where a lot of the confusing lies or rather in this case rather where the hope lies...

Romo may or may not be any good but atleast lets find out and work towards that next superbowl instead of spinning our wheels

I just don't see how a sub-mediocre performance means the end of mediocrity. That logic just escapes me.

I guess it's the "half full/half empty" thing Hos. Romo could end up being worse than Bledsoe. But there is still some possibility that he won't be.

"Hope" is a good thing Hos... and a good thing never dies. :D

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'll tell you why the performance gave me hope. Romo had no trouble moving the ball, and spreading it around to different receivers.

Most importantly, he is able to avoid the rush and make people miss. He gets rid of the ball quicker. That means good teams can't just do the middle blitz and kill us slowly. It means the pocket doesn't have to be totally clean for a good play to be made. I don't know if Romo is the answer, but I've seen enough to know he gives us a chance and with Bledsoe and our line we had no chance.

Were the picks terrible? You bet. But I have a question for you. Do you think it's more likely that a 14 year vet whose thrown thousands of passes in real nfl games will be able to correct his three interception games? Or that a player in his first meaningful action in the nfl will be able to correct his mistakes. With Romo there is at least a chance that he will be able to correct his impulsive throws and improve. There's really no chance for Bledsoe.

And to see the hope you have to look past just the 3 interceptions at the other parts of the game. If you can't do that then I can see why you wouldn't see any hope.

Calling that performance last night "hopeful" is as foreign to me as if you were speaking Greek.

I don't take hope from a poor performance. I don't sugarcoat it or whitewash it and say "all is well." I call it like it is.

I'm not Bledsoe's biggest fan, and I've already said many times I like Romo better. I can't put my personal preference above honesty and honestly, there was nothing hopeful about last night's effort.

Maybe he plays better down the road. That will give me hope. But excuse my high standards, I can't put frosting on a cowpie and call it cake.

We all have to remember that the defense played horribly last night and couldn't stop anything. Maybe the Giants offense is that good, but in my opinion, with such a focus placed on getting the defense where it needs to be, the defense was pathetic.

DeMarcus Ware was the only bright spot.

How can anyone expect Romo to pull this one out of his rear if the defense can't stop anybody?

The Giants are a tough team and will make plays-- you can't give them any help which is exactly what our offense did!

Newman pick, Bledsoe TD, Ware forced fumble BLEDSOE PICK! This is the turning point of the game. We have to be able to take advantage of opportunities.

If Owens catches that 2 yard pass we go on to score points, the D gets a little more rest, heck we might have even scored a TD and totally fired up our defense.

Opportunities missed-- we beat ourselves as much or more than any opponent.

I think if you go back and read all 30k+ of my posts, or at least the ones about Bledsoe, that I've never once given him the benefit of the doubt or leeway because of 14 years.

I don't care if he had less experience than Romo. The way he was playing was unacceptable. For last night, Romo didn't play any better than Bledsoe has. I could care less about his tenure. You won't see me saying he has 4 years in this system to Bledsoe's 2 either.

I don't play the excuse games. The reality of the situation is he stunk. He stunk. 3 picks in one half stinks. Asking me to smell it again from another angle or upwind isn't going to change the stink.

So, ya'll can hang your hats on Bledsoe's 14 years and pretend I'm choosing Bledsoe over Romo or whatever you need to do to justify what I'm saying or rationalize it. It won't change the fact that I haven't excused or accused either guy, and have merely pointed out what is irrefutablly true.

If he plays well, and we still lose, that can be "hopeful." But "hope" on a poor performance? I just can't get excited about that. I just can't.

MW brought up the Playboy analogy before, excuse me for going back to it. Yeah, you can get more satisfaction from your first time with a girl instead of dad's magazines, but if she barks at the moon are you going to brag about it and beat your chest?

Hell it never stopped Brain!

Hostile even tho he was horrible last night as you put it, he still ended up with a qb rating of over 70%

Not by any wild stretch of the imagination. If you don't believe me ask the meatheads (dead from the neck up) on the Bills forum who blame me for being trolls here. They're convinced I hate his guts.

Just telling it like it is. (My apologies to Howard Cosell.)

Don't dare use logic in this thread! ;)

That was the single worst QB performance in the history of the NFL.

Just ask Hos he'll tell ya. ;)
