- Romo pretty sharp, but blew two TD's to TE's

- OL play was pretty good...Free looks like a real find, hopefully he wont be out long

- 1st team D was good except for one play to Harrison...looked like busted coverage but there was no rush either

- kickoff coverage needs work, but it could be because they have alot of different guys out there that wont be there come week one...didnt really see who was where

- both kickers looked good save the one short kicoff by Folk...I kinda think we keep both guys

- Matt Moore showed maybe Jaworski did know what he was crowing about on draft weekend...but quit with the non sense of Moore being #2, it aint gonna happen this yr...

- we are loaded at WR, RB, TE, and LB...DL and OL look pretty solid too...still am unsure about the backups at DB, C and NT

- this looked like a talented, well coached team

- Brad Johnson has one of the weakest arms I have ever seen

not bad for a first time out...worst thing was Free potential knee injury, if he's ok this was as good an opener as we could hope for

Which possible TD did Romo miss to a tight end? Someone mentioned Fasano being wide open on one play, but what was the other? I don't think it was to Witten when Romo threw to TO. The safety was in a great position on that play. He was between Witten and TO. Once the ball was in the air he made his move to TO. If it had gone to Witten he would have been able to get to Witten when the ball arrived. Maybe it is a catch, maybe not. It was not a sure TD. Maybe there was another play.

Werd. I know everyone wants to find the negatives, but there was very little negative to be found last night. They looked physical, fast, on defense and Romo looked precise on offense spreading it around. Not sure what more we were looking for in the first game.

Umm....right on.......I don't think one could ask for a much better performance in a 1st pre-season game. In fact all one needs to do is go back and check the results in the past 5 or 6.;)

I remember getting blanked by Arizona and Houston....last year our offense was only able to score 13 at Seattle.

Was that the Arizona game where the media blasted Parcells and he said back to them that they didn't know what he was trying to do. Parcells was never about winning preseason. Can't say its a bad policy because they don't count. Still it left me shaking my head a bit.

yeah that was the play...if Romo throws it over Witten's shoulders its an easy TD

Here are my thoughts.

I was very disapointed in the first team offensive line. Not their pass blocking, but their run blocking. If anything, I thought that would be a strength. They stunk it up. Many many times they didn't get any push and thats with the Colts missing McFarland. The middle of that line should have blown out the Colts defensive line with as much beef as they have, but they didn't. I suspected if anything, I would be questioning the pass blocking instead of the run blocking.

I shouldn't even need to talk about the running backs because of the blocking, but I have a point I would like to make. I don't think there is anything to say about Jones at this point, but Barber is a different story. I like Barber and I'm glad we have him, but last night should have been an epiphany for everyone in the Barber should be the starter camp. The man MUST run downhill. Everything single time he went east or west, his forward progress pretty much ended there. You're starting RB must be able to run wide.

For the most part I was happy with the 1st pre-season game. Nothing fancy and depending on the MRI on Free no major injuries. No doubt the team still has some things to work on but for the most part looked good out there. I would like to see better run blocking and better tackling on defense as guys did not seem to do a good job of wrapping up. Other than that no major complaints.

dont worry so much dude...we were missing two starting OL's...its the first preseason game and run blocking always takes more work than pass blocking

I wasnt that displeased with it..it wasnt great but it wasnt poor either

Oh yeah, and I was quite upset with Sam Hurd. When Urban got nailed on the punt return it was Hurd's fault. He was running back to block and he waited way to long before turning around and looking for someone to block. (I was screaming at him as he was running to look back) Anyhow, he turned around and it was to late and Urban got crushed.

If you have ever coached a team, at any level, you know that last night was a success.

We looked good.

Lots to work on, but no glaring weakness that scares you. I think more starters will be on KO coverage once the games count.

Hope Free is OK.

Lets analyze the play for a moment. If the first option was Witten then the S is in position and WItten has not past the LB and he looks to TO while the pressure is about to nail him. If the first look is to TO then he does not have time to look at Witten. BY the time Witten breaks past the LB the pressure is in Romo's face

I am at a loss to see the criticism on this play.

To be fair. The colts were pressing their corners and putting giordano in the box every play. They had 8 men up the whole time against our starters. It is tough to run against that and I suspect that is why we couldnt run inside, there was a free guy almost every time.

Marion did not look good in this game. He had two carries under 2 minutes for 29 yards. Otherwise, he had 9 carries for 15 yards. That is actually bad. Plus, 3 catches for 11 is nothing special.

Julius looked better, looked like the starter, just as Wade and Bill have concluded. He went 6/22 and 1/13.

Actually, tonight was even better proof of that. Against 1st stringers and in typical running situations, Barber was stuffed and Julius was not.

Everybody wants to love Barber more because he's infectious, but it's just not true that he should be the starter.

I thought Julius looked better tonight. He ran decent, still not strong, but he seemed to at least locate the holes well. He didn't always make anything out of it, and he had better blocking than Barber, but I thought he was the best back on the field tonight, in his performance.
In other "he'll be better without Parcells news" did you notice that Roy Williams was around the ball, but not making clean, sound tackles? He was nailing guys but they were bouncing off. The old Roy would nail and wrap at the same time.

I am at a loss to see the criticism on this play.

He missed Witten, but the Colts pass rush was closing on him a bit quickly. My guess is that the play was designed for Owens, Romo locked on him a bit too much, but it wasn't exactly an easy read to Witten since he was running out of time in the pocket.

I think his last pass was worse. Fasano was open on the sideline for a TD. From the way it looked, I'm guessing the play was designed for Romo to look right and then throw to Barber because he looked right at Fasano and went back to Barber.

You have that faction onboard...

We lose: ****... Phillips is a bust... what a joke I will never root for this team again... Yes, this is preseason, but it is representative for what we can expect... 1-15 if we are LUCKY...

We win: No reason to be excited... this team sux and Wade sux... mark my words... this team will suck... TC too light, the Sun sets daily, JFK was murdered we hate life... what's up...

2-14...

This was well said.....

For the first pre-season game coming off a supposed "cupcake" training camp, the team looked remarkably well. The easygoing attitude on the bench, did not appear to translate to the attitude on the field. Anyone who watched Davis maul some guys could see that.

I am at a loss for all of the we didn't get a pass rush comments, it appeared to me that all of the Indy QB's were rushing their throws off every time. How you could watch this game and not at least be a little bit pleased is beyond me. Very few penalties, good execution for the most part and solid defensive play.

If you go back and look at the 1st part of the 3rd quarter on defense, they used some exotic blitzes atleast twice and the result was the tipped ball that resulted in a TD for KD..

Basically they started out in a base package - They quickly move into formation on the left side and flood that side of the line, Obomese comes free (like Merriman did so many times last year) and would'a killed Songi, but Songi just tossed it out to keep from getting sacked. His receiver hadn't even come out of his break yet, so Burnett would've either made the knock down or the interception anyways... Obomese wound up tipping the ball, and you know the result.

Another one simular to that one, but they zone blitzed, and it resulted in a shared sack.

Wade just couldn't help himself last night, I know he wanted to keep these things hidden, but sometimes, you are who you are and you can't hide it.

right on with the JJ thought's, I see the same guy who lets one guy tackle him and seems to be tripped up to easily. I thought he had some good running lanes early. I hope he's not stuck in the Parcells way of teaching.

I agree that Jones looked better. The thing was, Barber ran hard, but it seemed like he was having trouble finding the holes. He seemed hesitant about where to go, but once he commits, he is a load. And his ypc was aided by those two throwaway third and really long carries.

By no means am I saying that the job is Jones exclusively, but I didn't see anything last night that would make me change they way I used them last year.
