My message to Dak after watching Rush gave a winning record as the starter

It’s also worth noting that skill position player’s can have such a major impact on the offensive production. Ceedee was the offensive juggernaut last season for this team- CMC and Tyreek were better MVP candidates than Lamar for last year but QB’s nearly always win.

Dak’s never going to get much blame from several posters because they are too entrenched in their opinion. If he wins the SB as a full time starting QB here, many of us including me will gratefully shovel down some crow. Next year, if he has a terrible season-take your pick. Bad GM/front office. Bad coaching. Bad skill positions. Bad o-line or running game. Injury prevented him from his likely world domination. The league trembles at the greatness of Dak-and the Darnold’s, Mayfield’s, etc of the world.
I hear you but what’s your point here?

Agreed he is better than Rush. But not 58 million better.

I think it’s absolutely obvious that Dak is not worth the money.
He's worth what someone is willing to give him. Would you have turned it down? Dak is like any other player that knows his livelihood can be taken away very quickly....he did the right thing. He may have choked in the playoffs, but not in contract negotiations. Blame Jerry, but to blame an employee taking advantage of the system is reaching. All the complaints the last few months haven't changed anything and won't change anything.

I don’t begrudge Dak. I’m in favor of players getting as much as they can.

I begrudge Jerry for giving him the contract. The GM is supposed to make the decision. Jerry did. And it was a poor choice.

My original post was just me trying to be funny but also highlight what I now believe which is that Dak just isn’t that valuable and worth the money Jerry chose to pay him.

As far as the complaints go. You’re right. They won’t change anything. But we fans still have the right to complain. Jerry sucks!

The MVP award is just a QB award that is under a different name. Ceedee was Dallas’s offensive MVP last season. He’s making Cooper Rush look like a decent QB as long as he’s playing, even with a pretty significant injury.

The scarcity of the “franchise” QB is a fallacy. The scarcity of building a great roster (not including QB) is a real thing. Elite QB’s are also scarce.

I guess my question is who argued against any of this lol? Who said Dak didn't benefit from Lamb?

I was not really arguing a point. Just discussing thoughts. You mentioned the MVP award in relation to Dak starting slow last season then getting better as the season progressed. Were you proposing that Dak played better last season after a slow start (team really had a good start last year and he did not need to pass as much) and thus might have been better this season as it progressed?

This season has zero to do with last season, and his performance this season and going forward have to do with lots of variables. Surrounding cast is great at one position and the oline is playing better ball as the season progresses. Health and play ability progress are the best places to start when looking at a player’s predicted future production. Dak is giving off major signs of play regression and health instability. Whatever his play is like next season, it is trending steeply downward currently.

I. Mean this was said two years ago when he lead the league in interceptions….came back and was a MVP candidate. I’ll have to see the regression to believe it.

Don’t be naive. The same people questioning Dak are the same ones that have done it since 2016…..no one’s mind will change on the guy. It’s 2024 you should know what’s going on OG.
I do. BUT…given the environment, I can’t support Dak. Not when there are young brothers tearing it up.

That’s fine. I root for him because he’s a Cowboy. If he wasn’t I probably wouldn’t. I’m a Stroud fan too and he got egg on my face too.
#MeToo I supported Shroud but he got Mahomed! Plus given the one drop “rule” Mahomes still counts as an indictment of Dak lol

Rush is nothing special - just a nice & cheap backup QB.
Dak is obviously the better player if we're just doing a one to one comparison, but that's not how things work with
the salary cap. The real comparison is Dak and his contract vs Rush + 55-60 million of cap space to construct a more talented roster.
Or better yet, Dak and his contract vs Rush, 55-60 million of cap space, plus whatever draft capital Dallas could have obtained had they traded Dak last offseason,
which is the route I would have preferred, and used Rush as a bridge guy for whatever QB we drafted (hopefully with a high first round pick) to be "the guy".
