Did this one with Fan Speak's Draft Simulator using the CBS big board. Traded down twice before making a pick. I went with Ajayi in the third because his knee problems might be overblown though I had other choices at the time. I think Bennett and Clark will help immediately as will Byron Jones. Picked up P.J. Williams with an eye for moving him to safety. Alani Fua was a development pick because he needs to add some weight to be effective at this level. Thoughts would be appreciated. A number of trades here, which make the whole thing far-fetched but I would love this draft personally.

I'd be elated if the Cowboys could pull that off.

I think most would. I think the pick most people on here might have a problem with is Ajayi but I think he is a solid back, knee problem notwithstanding. If those problems are overblown or fabricated, I think he would be an excellent back.

Agreed.

I also think most folks expectations of what a first year back is going to accomplish is overblown.

I think many believe a guy is going to come in and get 300 carries and that ain't happening.

I could see a rookie back come in and get 150-200 carries at most. It's going to be a while before they are trusted in pass protection and will probably only see the field on run-probable downs.

And under those circumstances a back like Ajayi could thrive.

I do have a problem with the Ajayi pick. But the rest of the draft is so solid that it compensates. That's a lot of help for the defense.

I really looked for help on the offensive line depth. But never found value at the position on my picks.

R2P14 CB BYRON JONES
CONNECTICUT
I don't see any possibility of him being available here. There is a good change he is not even available at #27.

R3P5 RB JAY AJAYI
BOISE STATE
If the knee in not an issue, he will be an early 2nd round pick. If it is an issue, then this would be early.

R3P9 DT MICHAEL BENNETT
OHIO STATE
OK.

R3P27 CB P.J. WILLIAMS
FLORIDA STATE
Probably not available here, but slight chance. Converting him to FS is interesting. He is a physical player at CB, so maybe it's possible.

R4P1 DE FRANK CLARK
MICHIGAN
Excellent pick if available.

R4P28 CB JACOBY GLENN
UCF
Why this player? He looks OK in game footage but his measurable(s) are against him (very thing at 179 and not fast 4.6).

R4P32 WR TONY LIPPETT
MICHIGAN STATE
OK.

R5P2 OLB ALANI FUA
BRIGHAM YOUNG
I assume that you are projecting him to DE? He was a 3-4 OLB in college and played a good bit in coverage.

R5P10 ILB TAIWAN JONES
MICHIGAN STATE
Low probability to make the 53, IMO. They really loaded up with veteran LBs and any mid/late round LB will have trouble finding a spot.

R7P26 FS TEVIN MCDONALD
EASTERN WASHINGTON
OK.

It would have been good to look for an OL in there somewhere.

I agree it is likely Jones is gone at that spot. I was surprised to see him there in the simulator.

As far as Ajayi, running backs fell in the simulator. Gordon was still there when I traded back at 27 for instance. There were still other options at running back,at that pick, but I went with him cause I really like the kid.

Glen is a solid player but you are correct about his measurables. I still think he would be solid in the nickel and good for special teams.

Fua is a bit of a developmental player. Get some weight on his frame and I think he could be a very solid DE.

I like Jones. The guy is a tank but you are correct, it would be tough for him to make the team. I just didn't see any options I liked better.

I looked for offensive line help throughout the later rounds, I just couldn't find any of value at my picks.
