28. COWBOYS - JABRILL PEPPERS S MICHIGAN
Allows Dallas to play different players in different packages. Playmaking S who can play up in the box. Needs to improve tackling, but lays big hits. The speed theyre missing in the secondary.

RD2
Rasul Douglas CB West Virginia
The type of CB Dallas seems to want in that RCB spot. Tall long guy who can contest the 50-50 balls and keep everything in front of him. Douglas is a perfect fit for that RCB role in Dallas' defense.

RD3
Jake Butt TE Michigan
Needs a little work on his blocking. But just seems like a Witten clone when he came into the nfl. Not fast and dont seem to get much seperation but if the ball is around, he's going to get it. Uses his body to shield the ball from defender probably the best in college.

RD4
Avery Moss DE Youngstown St
Very quick off the snap, and gets after the QB. Think he would suprise alot of people in TC

RD6
Travin Dural WR LSU
If he can put in the work can be the suprise Brown was in '16

RD7
Nate Hairston CB Temple
Zone corner

I dont like Dural at all. Plug in any number of other receivers and I am cool with the draft

I like every pick but the TE and WR.

Personally I would go Hansen, Godwin or Henderson in RD 3.

Butt has had trouble with the same knee on two separate occasions. That's too much of a medical risk.

I think your first pick is all things to all DB problems . There will be a learning curve that will grow into an All Pro.
The second pick is a good pick also and solves secondary problems, almost.

I dont get the Butt pick not that there isnt a need. There are TE deep in this draft to have to go with a injury history.
I've lightly read about Avery ,no opinion. Serious need

This is a "A" draft because of the first two picks, well a "B" but I love Peppers

I think Peppers would reak havok as a down hill box safety as a rookie. He would be a major force in the running game and a guy in the back of WR's heads going over the middle. He got overhyped in school, but he would have a major impact on the secondary. Him and the more rangy Heath could be a very good pairing in Dime

I like Peppers more and more esp since both SSs are gone and I am no Heath bar fan. I would be just as pleased if they went with Harris or Taco to address the DE spot as well. Like both CBs but not a fan of offense in this draft unless it is a RT.

Surprised you guys don't like Jake Butt..

Yes he has some injuries but without them he is a bottom of the 1st/high 2nd rounder imo.

He can come back from those injuries as well. I'd take him.

Peppers seems like a guy we could like.

Like the rd 2 pick.

I think Butt in the 3rd is solid, but I can see the reasons why we might want to avoid him(major injuries on same leg).

Just wish we could add another passrusher on day 1/2. They could be sold on Law and Tapper being healthy but I feel like we'll let Law walk next year and well we still may be in the same situation similar to 2014 and 2016.

Dural has small hands, and has not shielded defenders well; he's disappeared at times, been in the tub, and has not been the best route runner.
Could be coached up (except for the hands) and has great straight speed. Would take him as 7th or UDFA.

Butt is coming off ACL with nerve damage, and he always lacked speed and moves anyway. Doesn't block as well as needed, butt that will improve.
Has great hands, shields well, makes plays, and is very smart and reliable. Let's see.................who does that remind me of?
I'm just not sure that more athletic TE's won't still be available in the later rounds, and Gathers is going to be a beast.

BTW, I love Peppers at 28.
Will be the War Daddy that JJ mentioned, the Cowboys' Troy P or LT.
By the end of the season, we could have the best mid-D in the league.

So no pass rush until Avery Moss? No bueno, even though I like some of the picks.

Just dont think Dallas sees anybody that is better then what they got at DE when they pick at 28. Unless somebody drops i dont think Harris or Takk(injured) is better then Mayowa. Think them wanting to go after JPP shows that. At 28 i dont see any DE who has the potential to create more then Peppers if he's there.

This draft isnt deep on RDEs. Think there is more value later.

But the biggest reason i think they wont go DE early is Tapper. People point this his injury, but he clarified it last week. He has the birth defect, but what got him injured he even admitted was he was so out of shape when he got to VR. He's healthy and been cleared.

What's it going to be then, eh?

If so, their ability to evaluate the talent on the roster is frighteningly bad. Save Irving's heroics in a few games, nobody stepped up and showed consistency.

If that is the case, I hope nobody complains about the lack of a pass rush since apparently we are just too good.

That said, I can completely see it happening.

Mayowa when he came back week 13 was just as good. He had 4 sacks in 3 games. This was Irvings and Mayowas first extended action in the nfl. Because they were used in situations. And they both showed up when they got their chance. Fans just want the names on back of the jerseys. What they need is another 3-4 guys to equal Irving, Mayowa, and Collins production. Thats where the problem lies. Because these guys are in a rotation so they arent out there all game.

Thats why we saw them stops sacks and turnovers late in games at the end of the yr. Because they were fresh making plays when it counted. They need to find guys who can pressure, but they might want to see what they got in Tapper and Moore and they expect Lawrence back. IM not saying i agree, but it just looks like theyre pointing towards DB early. They signed Paea and Moore and have Tapper who they like for this yr as new faces. But in the secondary they signed a CB and no S'.

I just dont see them going with another rookie early when they have young guys along the DL who were getting into a rythem once they got a chance to play due to injuries to vets. I think they will draft a DE but i dont think it will be in rd 1. Could be round 2 in a guy like Willis, or Walker who can play SDE and 3tech. Since Crawford doesnt seem like he will be ready soon. Just seems like this injury is going to drag on.

Nice mock draft overall.

I personally think that with the defections in our secondary, Butts would be a luxury at three. I think we go (based on your projects) SS, CB, DE, CB in the first four rounds.

I think Butts will drop to maybe the fourth or fifth round anyway. He's supposed to be a clone of Witten, and Witten dropped to the third round of a draft that wasn't as deep as this one.

Butts will sink.

I actually think that's very possible. I think they'd draft a DT before an end, especially if you look at who they've met with so far. I think they'd love a DT like ogunjobi in round 3. I think we should brace for cb round 1 and safety round 2 with DT and end coming in 3 and 4.

Good mock. Peppers would be a good way to in the 1st. Hope they dont go TE in the 3rd but there has been chatter about Butt. You might be right.
