Subscribing to my idea that there is no way Jerry sits there quietly on Day 1, we start off with a trade:

Dallas sends the 51st pick, 101st pick, and Bobby Carpenter LB to Oakland for the 40th pick and Michael Huff S on Friday afternoon.

Dallas sends the 40th pick and the 156th pick to Cleveland for the 36th pick on Draft Day.

2(36) Hakeem Nicks WR North Carolina
3(69) Herman Johnson G LSU
4(117) Jason Watkins T Florida
5a(166) Chris Baker NT Hampton
5b(172) Louis Vasquez G Texas Tech
6a(197) Henry Melton OLB Texas
6b(208) Antonio Appleby ILB Virginia
7a(210) Everette Pedescleaux DE Northern Iowa
7b(227) Michael Ray Garvin CB Florida State

I didn't like the CB's available Rounds 4 thru 7 so I got on the phone and signed Ken Lucas CB to a 2-year deal.

So we added Michael Huff S, Ken Lucas CB, and Hakeem Nicks WR to contribute right away... Johnson, Watkins, and Vasquez to improve OL depth.. Baker and Pedescleaux to improve DL depth.. Appleby and Melton as linebacking depth. Garvin as a return guy and reserve corner.

I really like what you did for the offensive line!

About the only change I would make is to go the extra mile and move up to draft Alex Mack instead of Nicks.

And I'd love to add Lucas and Huff to help solidify the secondary.

It's a nice dream.

Nice! And well thought out, no way Jerry stays quiet on the first day. So to magnify the splash JJ loves so much, in addition to acquiring Lucas & Huff, Jerry trades Proctor and a 2010 5th to Buffalo for Roscoe Parrish (returner & slot receiver). Now you can go into the draft w/supreme flexibility and draft to your philosophy: tough intelligent productive football players.

As to the draft, I would keep pick 40 and trade pick 69, 156 and Ellis to Detroit for pick 33. Trade pick 40 to Philly (always trading w/Philly, its tradition) for pick 53 and their 3rd (85).

First 4 picks:

Round 2 (33) C Alex Mack, California, 6-4 315 4.97
Replaces Proctor, backup C & LG: versatile, top technician, can play every interior OL position, top notch intangibles & leadership

Round 2 (53)FB/QB/Slot James Casey, Rice, 6-3 246 4.69
Replaces Cricket, adds Wildcat QB, 3rd String QB & every other position :): ultra productive, epitomizes versatility, elite intangibles & character

Round 3 (85) OLB David Veikune, Hawaii, 6-3 257 4.79
Pushes Spencer, backup Ware: dominated Mike Oher in SR Bowl, non-stop motor, uber-physical, plays faster than times

Round 4 (117) ILB Jason Williams, Western Illinois, 6-1 241 4.46
Nickel LB & heir apparent to aging Brookings: super productive, versatile, knack for sacks, ffs & tfls.

Rest of the draft Ciskowski can truly go BPA, as the needs are met w/the early picks.

Really? Not even to add someone to play nickel LBer & heir to Brookings ILB spot? Without Barbie, there really is no proven guy on the roster who can do that.

And Appleby is no coverage LBer.

Gawdd stop filtrating your garbage idea;s into other peoples mock drafts. You've made your point clear that you want Casey..no one agrees so just move on.

Good mock Chris..Garvin's going to be sick in the NFL as a PR and KR specialist. World class speed. Good job there. I will do back flips if we got Nicks, But I despise Watkins..too slow and weak. Huff is interesting and doesn't NEED to start right away. We can see what he brings to the table then adjust it. Lucas adds veteran depth. I like it.

not high on the Chris Baker pick, doesn't seem to be a football player, but he is talented though

only knock I have, great mock and idea

all for trading up for Hicks, but the Michael Huff stuff is terrible. I dont want anything to do with him. He's a mega bust. Would much prefer we draft somebody that has some real upside, because he has none.

Nicks would be a bigger priority than an interior OL, where two of our three guys are allpros and we have 2 decent LG options, incl one that might end up being ideal for our scheme.

Lucas ok, but hell no to Huff. He's terrible. In fact I bet he doesnt even make Oaklands last cutdown if he isnt released before.

My thinking with Huff was just swapping busts. If Huff works out as a third safety, then great. I feel he is better than Pat Watkins, Courtney Brown, Tra Battle, and Jerome Carter. If he sucks we can cut him at zero cap hit. I'm in no way a Longhorns fan but I've always liked Huff's athleticism. I'd hardly consider Oakland's coaching staff the end all evaluators of whether or not a kid can play in this league.

I don't think our guys played like 'all pros' last season.

I think a lot of them are too complacent because they've got big contracts and aren't in any danger of losing their jobs.

I'd like to see that change, starting with LT and C specifically.

I don't share your hatred for Huff and - depending on his contract numbers - I'd roll the dice on rehabilitating him.

Agree 100%. I don't know what games he was watching where our line look like all-pros. Romo was battered and bruised they entire season andFlozell is a false start machine.

I am not a fan because this breaks all my mock draft rules. lol.

It includes fantastical and imbalanced trades.
It includes trades merely the purpose of getting pet cats in here.

This what happens when Jerry Jones drafts sitting next to Lacewell. :)

Might look good to guys who love certain players but it ends up very, very bad.

This is the opposite of letting the game come to you.

Specifics:
1) Oakland isn't gonna trade us Huff and 40 for that chump Barbie and 51 plus 101. 40 is a value pick because it is in to round 2 for easier signings but still definite round 2 talent on the board. ---I understand Oakland is crazy but that just means any trade can be suggested if we use them as the trade partner.

2) Nicks now seems unlikely to be there at 36 even. With Bey and Harvin falling for drug tests and also because they just aren't really natural WRs Nicks rises by default.

3) Jason Watkins is not our type of OT. He is a former TE who is more finesse than power. He is also ranked the 157th best prospect by NFLDS.

4) I watch a lot of Tech football so know Vasquez but he'd scare me before r6. He is not great in space and has little run-blocking experience. However he is a powerful guy and the prototype Hudson guy. He had soem balance issues at the East-West Shrine practices.

5) I love the very late picks but hate giving up so many of the first half of day 2 picks in the moves up for 1 player. That might have made sense has Austin been offered but he wasn't and now it would be a mistake.

6) No one helps us from this draft right away. Nicks can compete with Crayton and Austin at best. We'd still be weaker than water at Safety and linebacker.

7) You traded off Barbie but didn't sign another backer so we now have zero inside backers behind the starters.

Not in the second round anyways, third I might do it, but he took Nicks off his mock so I quit reading it right there. Chris' mock was a nice mock.
