My thoughts..
-We won't get Akin for a 5th if we only got a 6th and a swap of 6th's for a solid DT in Fergy
-Why would we trade the only other PROVEN pass rusher on this team other than Ware?
-Don't like the Reggie Smith pick b/c Dallas will likely lockup Hamlin long-term before the 08' season starts. Smith is basically a tweener. I want a guy known strictly for being a CB that can be a starter for us soon.

Greg Ellis has value right now. he is old so get something while you can. Spencer looked good last year in limited playing time. he is ready to play fulltime.Reggie smith can play CB or FS. Plus Hamlin can play SS. Roy has to be benched now.

I agree that if we were going to trade Ellis, now would be the best time to do it. If he were a F.A. in the market we have right now, he would have signed a pretty substantial contract based on what other guys are getting.

It's better to get rid of a guy one year early, than one year too late.

That being said, I kind of like having pass rushers on the roster for a change.

I also don't like Reggie Smith being our 22nd pick, and Kevin Smith is no home run threat.

Interesting draft though, I'm all about Hardy.

I don't see us getting 2 corners in the first 2 rounds and then getting 2 WR in the first four rounds. I like Hillis, Bryant, Hardy thats it.

you don't trade a proven pass rusher in Ellis when he's not hurting you much cap wise, we're gonna be in a superbowl run this year and in case of an injury to Ware or Spencer, we still have another pass rusher to not skip a beat.

1.Reggie smith CB & FS. Oklahoma

I don't like taking a C.B. in round 1 when he's listed as BOTH a C.B./F.S., I know that just means he could project to either, but if he was THAT GOOD of a corner, they wouldn't even mention the possibility of him being a safety since C.B. is a lot more important of a position.

1.James hardy.WR, Indiana
2.Terrell thomas.CB.USC
3.Kevin smith RB. C.Florida

I like these 3, although I don't think Smith lasts till late 3rd round.

4.Red Byrant. DT.Texas A&M

Won't last till round 4!

4.Donnie Avery.WR. Houston

Won't lat till round 4 either!

5.Payten Hillis.FB.Arkansas

I don't think we need a F.B., but don't mind the pick!

5.Jasper Brinkley.ILB.South carolina
6.Michael Grant.FS.Arkansas
6.Josh williams.ILB.Arkansas. State

This is laughable IMO, we're only gonna keep 4 I.L.B.'s, even if we trade Ayodelle, we'd still have James and Thomas as starters adn Burnett and Carpenter as backups, so there's NO ROOM for us to draft ANY I.L.B. since those are gonna be the 4 I.L.B.'s we are going into next seaosn with, I'd be COMPLETELY SHOCKED if we draft ONE I.L.B., if we draft TWO, I think we need to fire someone in the drafting department!

I doubt we draft an ILB too. But if we do, Carpenter has experience at OLB as well. We could probably rotate Carpenter at OLB (obviously, with Ware, Ellis, and Spencer as the top 3 OLBs) and afford to carry an extra ILB should we feel the need to do so.

Carpenter gives us some versatility with that.

Well if we got another 4th rounder in a trade (which won't happen), I could see us drafting 2 C.B.'s and 2 W.R.'s in the st 4 rounds, especially if we take a guy like Hardy or Sweed in round 1, because then we'd still be in the need for a small speedy guy to stretch the defense, so a guy like Avery could be an option if we pick a taller guy in round 1 like Hardy or Sweed, and I could easily see us drafting 2 C.B.'s in the 1st 4 rounds also, but I can see the 2nd C.B. we take could be a player who could be both a C.B. and a safety if need be!

When you consider that we don't really need to be drafting a Q.B./O.T./T.E./C./L.B. in the 1st four rounds, the positions we could be picking, D-line/W.R./C.B./R.B., it could be possible we draft 2 C.B.'s and 2 W.R.'s since while I'd like to get another D-lineman, it's not a neccessity if we don't like anyone when our pick comes up, so that leaves W.R./C.B./R.B., we'll take one R.B. for sure in the 1st 4 rounds, so that leaves W.R./C.B. left over for three picks, and since he said we'd have an extra 4th rounder, I could see us taking 2 of each at those positions and wouldn't have a problem with it, take our 2 biggest weaknesses last year and turn them into ou 2 biggest strengths is never a bad thing.

I would love to see something like this!

1st C.B. DRC/Talib/Jenkins
1st W.R. James Hardy/Limas Sweed
2nd R.B. Chris Johnson/Jamaal Charles/Ray Rice
3rd C.B. Zach Bowman
4th W.R. Dexter Jackson

This would give us 2 W.r.'s and 2 C.B.'s in the 1st 4 rounds and give us our compliment to Barber on top of it.
We'd bolster our receiving core with a future #1 W.R. and a small SPEEDY guy to stretch defenses we'd need also, plus we'd get our replacement for Henry in 09' and add another top C.B. also to be our 4th C.B. thisyear and take over as our 3rd C.B. next year.

You give me
C.B. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
W.R. James Hardy
R.B. Chris Johnson (happy?)
C.B. Zach Bowman
W.R. Dexter Jackson

you give me these players with our top 4 rounds of the draft and I'd be one happy camper and these players would also make immediate contributions as rookies too!

I agree, considering Carp was drafted to be our O.L.B. to begin with, he does add versatility since he leanred all 4 L.B. positions and could play any of the 4 in a pinch if we needed him too.
I still have hope for him, I just think he needs to get playing time, I think he's one of those guys who might not be a great PRACTICE guy but once he gets on the field, he does his job!
