1a.Rashard Mendenhall, rb--Though I really think he will be taking prior to #22 it appears this is in the area where many mocks have him going. This guy is a STUD and I think the best back in this draft. The Boys would get a steal here and a new running mate for the Barberian.

1b.Antoine Cason, cb--Big, fast, fluid and very smart...to me he is a no-brainer if available at #31

2. Red Bryant, nt--Monstrous tackle would allow for Ratliff to play the end where he belongs.

3. Craig Steltz, ss--Strong safety with a nice combination of size, speed and intelligence.

4.Eddie Royal, wr--I love this guy.....he will be more than a return guy in the pros, you can book it. Great character, very intelligent and blazing speed are a receipe for success and I think you will see him flourish now that he is out of the quicksand offense that is Vatech.

5.Greyson Gunheim, olb--Nice olb prospect at a position where the Boys have little depth in.

6.Chris McDuffie, og--Good kid, huge, athletic and still learning the position. Developmental prospect with an upside of Bigg Davis.

7.T.C Ostrander, qb--I think this guy is better than he has shown....Tom Brady wouldn't look much better quarterbacking Stanford.

--If Barber is signed longterm I don't think we should draft a RB 1st Rd,
I believe we can pick up a solid RB to compliment Barber in the 2nd if not
the 3rd or 4th RD. (Johnson? Rice? Charles? Choice?)
--I know there are those that like Cason and those that don't care for him
much, I'm one of those that's not so crazy about the guy. How about
CB Leodis McKelvin of Troy? He's been climbing up draft boards and was
arguably the best return man this year. He will have a wicked 40 time at
the combine.
--I like your 2nd rd pick of Red Bryant though I'd love to get Okam
somewhere in the 1st or 2nd if at all possible.
--Overall nice mock!

I actually thought of Okam and definately can see a scenario where he gets chosen by the Cowboys.
The reason I went with Mendenhall at #22, is that I don't think you will find a better player at this spot and the two back system is very effective.

Mendenhall is a stud guys. It's hard to tell who is better but I don't think McFadden is that much if any better then 'Shard. Come on Jerry and pick Rashard Mendenhall from Illinois.

It seems that everyone has the right priorities but do you think that the players you draft with your first two picks are going to be available at those positions?

And what about the slotting of the next three picks? Do you think these players can be had, say, a round later than where you're projecting them?

I like Medenhall but when it comes to college its obv McFadden > Mendenhall.

I think Dre Moore who's stock is rising would be a good pick for us. I also like frank Okam i think its going to be a toss up between those 3 guys.

I think Anthony Spencer is a good back up and we don't have problem there i think ILB is where we have lil depth and Travares Gooden is what we need. I like Eddie Royal. Don't like the day 1 pick of a strong safety. I think we need an OT not a OG

I do not have a problem with picking a tackle....though with three young ones in the fold it's not as pressing a need as you might think. I just feel Steltz is too good to pass up should he be there....of course he might not...but this is why we fool around with mocks to create discussion and explore the possibilities of different scenarios.

I like it, still don't see the need to draft a DT that high, he'd really have to be BPA, a huge cut above the rest for me to consider it

He seems a bit slow for what we need from that position.

Red Bryant DT Texas A&M

STRENGTHS
Red is a big, powerful DT with the athletic ability to take on and shed blockers and make a tackle. He is an excellent run-stuffing DT. He shows good quickness off the snap and is strong enough to handle a double team and tie up offensive lineman so that the other D-lineman can make a play. Red does the grunt work and does it willingly. He understands situational football and makes the players around him better. He shows leadership qualities on the field and is the type of player you can use to build your defense around. Red reminds me a lot of Jammal Williams (DT San Diego Chargers). I call him Red (The Clog) Bryant because he will clog up the middle of your offense so badly that you will have to call a plumber to get it opened up!

NEEDS TO IMPROVE

Red can push the pocket, but is not going to get many sacks unless someone runs them into his arms. Red also must learn to keep his shoulders square to the line of scrimmage. This spin move garbage someone is teaching him is not going to cut it at the next level.

TALENT BOARD ROUND 4

If you want to build a Super Bowl defense, then you have to draft a player like Red Bryant. For example, Jammal Williams has been the key cog in the defense of the Chargers for the last few years. This year, Jammal has been injured and the Chargers’ defense has suffered tremendously. Since Jammal has come off the injury, the Charger defense has come back to life. It is no coincidence. Jammal is a two down and out D-lineman that has the ability to affect third downs by getting the other team into third and long situations all game long. This allows the Chargers to pass rush on third down without the worry of a running play. Red has the potential to have this same effect and it will not matter if you run a 3-4 defense or a 4-3 defense. Red will take up two Offensive Lineman in any type of defense. This allows a defensive coordinator to run all types of different run blitz and pass blitz schemes. You can get an NFL QB to make more bad decisions that lead to interceptions (and that means turnovers), if you can push the pocket. A sack is not a turnover! Frustrating an offense all game long by taking the run away and pushing the pocket on passing downs is a sure way to win a game. I have seen many D-Linemen with multiple sacks in a game be on the losing side at the end of the game; however, it is rare to see a defense that has stopped the run be on the losing side. If you stop the other team from running and push the pocket, it is a sure bet that you will get multiple interceptions and be on the winning side. Red understands his own talents and knows exactly what is going to be required of him from the team that drafts him. He understands that he will not get credit from the fans for doing his job and will not be interviewed by the press after a win. But he also knows that he will be one of the big reasons for the win. Red (The Clog) Bryant -- that’s one clog I don’t mind having.

I really think we need a Bryant type in the middle....and that is NO slight on Ratliff who I think has done a great job filling in this year. I just don't think that is his best position and he would be so much more effective opposite Canty as a bookend.
