Made it out there this morning...........Here's a few things I saw at camp.
Felix Jones is super fast......barring injury, he should have an outstanding season. He and Austin are the primary KO returners. Both looked good doing it today, but Felix is special.
Romo looks very sharp. He and Roy were clicking for the most part today, hitting on a long td over #33, who got toasted a few times today. Roy makes the tough catches look so easy.
Roy should seriously consider buckling his helmet. On consecutive plays, #33 bumped him at the line, the first time Roy's helmet flew off and the second time it did not fly off, but while Roy was readjusting his helmet, Romo's pass flew right by him.
Sam Hurd is having an outstanding camp. Not sure if he has dropped any balls this camp, but he is making all the tough catches look easy. He had several pretty catches for TDs today, but the prettiest was a diving catch from Romo on a post pattern.
In one on one drills, OL vs DL, Butler is looking real good. Or maybe the OL is terrible.......aside from the starters. Butler abused McQuistan and Free. B. Williams did well today, but lost some, and didn't look as good as Butler. Procter got abused badly by # 95, who sat him in his butt. Bowen was pretty much unblockable today.
Lets pray for a healthy OL all season....our backups are terrible. Speaking of which, haven't read anything anywhere about it, but Columbo was wearing a heavy wrap on his left elbow today. I hadn't noticed it before. I hope it's nothing serious.
Newman gave Martelus Bennet a cheap shot causing an injury to Bennett's hand. Bennett was in pain, and was checked out by the trainers. He stayed at practice but did not participate anymore after the hit. Bennett had caught a pass in the flats during the 2 minute offense, and broke for the goal line and just as he was relaxing around the goal line, Newman for some reason hit him with his helmet. All the other players had stopped and turned around.
The running game looked pretty good, especially Felix.......his burst is just amazing.
Lacewell on the sidelines with Jerry and Stephen!
Barbie looked pretty good out there.......there I said it! Very active and in position most of the time.
In my opinion, if there is a true, emotional leader on this team, it is Hurd. He goes around talking and encouraging all the other players all the time. It doesn't hurt that he is having an outstanding camp.
I took some pics, and if they came out alright, I will post some later.
