I was bored at work...and I pretended to be OC for a few minutes. Any potential here with both Jones and Barber on the field at the same time? Both Barber and Jones line up in the backfield. Glenn and Witten to one side and TO on the other side. Before the snap, Jones goes in motion toward TO and lines up as a WR.

Either a LB or safety has to cover JJ (who will be crossing over the middle). If the safety comes up, TO has man coverage to beat and the Corner will give him a cushion of 5 yds at least(IMO). Can hit TO with a slant or quick pass. If JJ draws a LB, JJ runs a short crossing pattern over the middle of the field (should be able to beat the LB). Glenn and Witten to run fly patterns.

Barber can also help pass protect also if needed. Also can run Barber on a draw if it looks like LBs are dropping back and DL are pass rushing or a screen/pass in the flat to Barber(Blitz scenario). Or you could even run Barber on a sweep/pitch toward Glenn/Witten's side.

Does it have any potential? Is it worth a shot? Waste of time? As DC how would you cover/counter?

Alot of it depends on if the D is in base or nickel or dime packages.. If you run it against the base.. then lb would slide outside to cover jones,, but they would play zone. let him catch it on the short cross and come up and tackle.. what you would want to do is run TO on a deep post to draw double coverage from the safety,, and send JJ on a fly route up the sideline.. this would give you one on one with a LB or in zone, the safety would have to decide who to take.. even he even freezes a step to look at TO,, JJ would be open the soft area and then its just a foot race..

Dallas has shown several plays with JJ and MBIII on the field at the same time. Usually when they are in this package one of them motions out of the back field.

If the circumstances are just right I can see them both in there to run the option play like Ritchie Anderson did when he pitched it to Aveon Cason against the Panthers in 2003. Probably 1 in a million they will do it again, but they did it once before.
