So this is my first game where i started taking notes on things i saw

(i know i need to work on my thread title, not quite as good as hostile's yet :))

so the stream i was watching kept cutting in and out for the first quarter, so i won't be saying much about the first quarter, i'll have to rewatch the game later.

just some things that i noticed and was looking for:

I liked the play of the young safeties tonight:

McCray just continues to make plays on special teams. i like Watkins but McCray is not in his rear view mirror anymore, i think he might be driving alongside now.

Church i felt was more active tonight making plays, not even counting the fumble recovery which was great until he let Rivers take him down, lol

speaking of which, why did Spencer not lay Rivers out there with a block?

now they were mentioning it on the broadcast, the blown coverage on the long pass play. they said at the time it was church, when i saw the replay it looked like it was McCray....so that was a negative play for one of them

AOA i was really looking forward to seeing tonight, and he was worth the wait i felt. his punt return showed some burst and vision, unfortunately the penalty brought it back.

his KO returns....eh...i don't know yet....i think he showed potential definitely...but he's gotta work on the ball security

however we have to remember this is his first action since college in division II. i also thought he had good coverage on one play where he helped cause an incompletion.

so moving onto the corners....i was only looking at the backups so that's what i have notes on at this point:

Gordon made himself stand out obviously....great play on the pick! the only negative i saw watching live was he had the penalty on the punt return by AOA.

McCann didn't stand out much, which is good since he didn't get beat. he gave up a catch but he had really good coverage it was just a great play by the receiver

here are the rest of my observations at first glance:

1st team offense and defense both looked pretty bad tonight....no gelling on offense....defense got pushed around for the most part

on a positive note we got our first offensive TD on a great back-shoulder pass to Austin

Sean Lee was AWESOME tonight. he just kept putting himself around the ball. and what can be said about his plays on 3rd and 4th down end of the game? ! terrific job by him. i look forward to watching more of him these next 2 games

Leon Williams....oy....he shows sparks but then the next time you see him he's dumping water on those sparks...

the dropped pick i can't put solely on him b/c J Will ran into him....but the missed tackle on the pass to the back is a play he needs to make

the positive i saw on that play was Dixon running the back down to make the tackle

speaking of Dixon he seemed more active to me tonight, getting closer to the QB and holding ground better

Holley continued to be active on special teams....i wish he could have held onto that tackle at the end, but he did slow the guy down enough to let McCray nail him.

i wish he got more chances when he's in on offense. i think the pass he dropped tonight was only his 2nd or 3rd pass all preseason sent his way, and one of them was that pass out of bounds he snagged last game.

Martellus really showed me something tonight. except for the TD celebration he had a totally different demeanor than i'm used to seeing from him. i'm not dogging the celebration btw, lol

i admit i wasn't watching the o-line as closely as i wanted to...i'm really going to watch them when i re-watch the game...but i think Brewster and Young both did very well tonight. the only thing that stood out negatively was when McGee got sacked the defender put a move on Young to get inside.

i thought Costa did a good job also. in particular he stood out to me on the screen pass to Lonyae Miller with a nice lead block

the final thing i'll point out was on the pick by Gordon there was a really nice push by Brent where he just pushed his man straight into the QB.

that's all i've got for now. when i re-watch the game i'll come back with some more analysis...specifically the o-line.

if you'd like me to pay attention to anything else let me know.

I was going to mention that in my thread and I forgot. Spencer could have put a serious hurt on him. I do think it is better that the Offense had to get the score.

Did anyone else notice Rivers acting like a jerk after the tackle?

It's so common place with Rivers it's hardly noticable.

They mentioned it a few times on the Cowboys post game radio show. Coach Joe said something about it specifically.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. Watkins is gone this year. McCray is a solid special teams player. Sean Lee stood out bigtime! Always seems to be around the ball. Good summary Dcowboy84

Don't make it your last summary. It's a good job.

Marty B's TD was really nice.

Romo has to learn to just throw it in his area and he'll make a play.
