I used my Tivo I meant to record the whole game an take notes (I forgot to grab a pen and paper then I got wrapped up into replaying each offensive snap over and over again lol in the 1st half):banghead:

Going to try and be better next week; this is my opinion and I am not claiming to be a expert by any means.

Torrin Tucker is our best run blocker period end of story
Larry Allen is the best pass blocker

Al Johnson: What can I say I replayed the plays over and over almost every time once the ball was snapped his defender was able to get him turned sideway the majority of the snaps; if he was not turned sideways he was just flat out blown up and pushed into the backfield.

Tucker: Tucker is a solid tackle he is the best run blocker of the oline now I saw several plays where he was able to destroy his guy and get to the second level on blocking. Pass protection Tucker has solid foot work and struggles with speed rushers with double moves at times he seems to take too deep of a drop. Two different plays that I saw him get beat for a sack the same thing happen he dropped back got a great 1st punch but the de made a quick inside adjustment getting by him; the second time was a great quick swim move by the de to redirect himself back inside both times tucker got solid initial contact he just failed to handle the change of direction quick enough. A guy that just trys to blow by him on the outside was almost always pushed out of the way because Tucker did a good job of punching and extending his arm to keep the linemen away from him. His main weakness seems to be linemen who are fast and can redirect real fast to an inside move.

Petti: Was up and down again he seems to get an ok push on the running game but not a great push; on pass protection he hold up fine against an inside move but he struggles against speed like Tucker did last year because he takes to shallow of a drop and the de gets around his outside shoulder. Petti also does not always stay properly square and can be bull rushed at times. Remember al those people bashing him he is a rookie that was a raw package he has talent and a good offseason will make him ten times better and he was going against a de that should go to the HOF when he retires (imo)

Allen: Larry seems to do ok at run blocking he gets some push but does not look like he has the burst to get to the second level quick enough. His defender seems to be able to shed of him and make a tackle to stop the run from being bigger. Allen's pass protection is solid he does not get driven back and he seems to maintain his blocks.

Rivera: Arrg he is an enigma like on JJ's 1st 11 yard run Rivera blew up his guy and sealed up the right side it was sweet. Then in the same half him and al johnson double team the nt and both them get blown up and pushed back into Bledsoe allowing the nt to deflect the pass.

Final Views by me:

Petti and Tucker should stay next year Tucker should be moved to the guard spot (Tucker played guard in college) Petti will get better with a full off season and be a good linemen for us.

Allen is ok but for what he is getting payed I am not so sure

How is Flo going to do coming back from a knee injury has to be a concern there

Al not sure with this guy if he was having issues with technique I be less concerned; but someone else said it best he plays small and he is being physically manhandled which puts me in a quandary I do not like to just bash young guys and give up to soon on them because I understand it is tough to play while early in the NFL but he is just getting physically manhandled even in his 3rd year which is the concern where as Tucker and Petti seem to be lack of experience or techniques that need fine tuning

Rivera is he showing age or is his back still not what it should be he did injure it late in the summer it maybe next year before it is complete healthy

Anyways like I said my view please add to it or disagree (If you disagree I like to know why to make a note of what to look for next week that I may have missed)

Thanks

Thanks for the analysis.

I really think this O-line would be at it's best with Adams and Allen on the left side, healthy.
Tucker on the right side.
As for C and RG, I just don't know but I think Rivera's past success and experience is a strong commodity.

Guess we need a real Center.

Kangaroo, I just don't see how you can say Tucker was doing well on blocking the run. Umenyiora. How many runs were made to the left side, particualrly outside. I only remember one in the first half and that was a misdirection play. Nothing was working to that side and the Cowboys went that way very rarely.

I agree with your analysis of Petitti. I think an off-seasom weight program can help him immensely but right now he is not strong enough to handle a guy like Strahan. He was having to guard against the inside move so much Strahan was able to run around him several times. I still like his potential but we will need competition at that spot next year.

I think we need a new center and there is another off-season change that is not good.

From what I could see the left side running plays was usally a lb shooting the gap from the inside poistion because Larry Allen could not get to the second level oo Allen man was sheding off him to take JJ or barber down for also With Al getting turn sideways guys where able to shot the gap and get the backside tackles

That is why I could say that to many times I saw Tucker desotry his guy go up and hit the next level to make another block in the run play
