OK - I have not been reading most of the pacman threads because I got bored with all the speculation. But now I am going to assume the trade will happen and have a question. What position will pacman play? Will he take Henry's starting job? Will he play nickel? If he does take Henry's job what will Henry play?

He hasn't played for a year so it would make sense that he comes in as the #3 corner and of course punt returns and kickoff returns. Then go from there.

Pacman will start without question. Henry will play nickel.

In my opinion, Jones would be the team's nickel cornerback.

But he would play outside in the nickel, allowing Terrence Newman to move inside and play the slot receiver.

So Henry would stay at his normal spot.

Agreed.

I say let Pacman take Henry's current spot so he can move to free safety. Let Hamlin play strong safety. Draft the best CB available on day one for the nickle CB. The only time Roy W. should see the field should be as a nickel linebacker and special teams. Our coverage would improve dramatically with that lineup.

On your Happy Birthday no less.

I think we'll try and rotate the CBs and keep them fresh as much as possible.

That is exactly what will happen unless there is an injury.

You want an unproven rookie as our nickle CB?

No thanks.

Your plan might take place in the future. But not until Wade feels much more comfortable with the rookie and that might not been until 2009.

A healthy Pacman will put Henry in the nickel corner once he shakes off the rust - they are really in different leagues in terms of ability. We would probably have by far the best pair of starting CBs if it works out.

I still think we need to draft a CB high even if the Pacman deal goes down because Henry always gets hurt and Ball is an unproven 7th round pick, just like Nate Jones and Jacques Reeves.

It seems as though teams now use the nickle defense almost as much as the base defense. You never hear too much about CBs wearing out - I think it's because if you have the ability to play the position you can run all-day long.

Regardless, all of them will be on the field alot.

While no rookie is a sure thing, a 1st rd rookie would be a lot better than the second day draft fodder we have been adding to our secondary. When you have two CB's who can play man and two safeties that can actually cover you can give the rookie some help. Roy W. is a huge liability in coverage and I don't see that changing even under Campo's tutelage. We could also go with moving Henry back to corner in the nickel and letting Pat Watkins play FS. Anything to get Roy out of coverage.

I think you'll see him in the 3 spot, on nickel, at first to get back to the speed of the game after being out for a year. Well, actually, over a year in terms of the last time he actually played a game.

Somewhere around the middle of the year you might see him take Henry's spot if he really starts to come on.

He'll be the 3 for the start of the year but his real value, all year, will be on the KR and PR oppurtunities.

I agree

I have a bold (sarcastic) prediction on Henry and that is he will get hurt during the season.

Absolutely.

Good moves, from Pac-Man to Henry to Hamlin and finally, Roy.

I do think Roy would pout as a nickle/special teamer at first, but would start making some highlight hits and thrive.
Sounds awesome to me, C

I like that scenario.

Draft Kenny Phillips and Another Corner. Play RainMan in the Nickel. Next year when Roys cap hit is lower cut him and Henry. Give Hamlin and Newman new contracts.. Secondary looks like this Hamlin SS, Phillips FS, Newman CB and RainMan CB.

I hope they will move them around, assuming they are comfortable with that, and put them in the best position to excel. I think Philips will move them around some.

I think you always put the best players on the field at all time, and Pack is much better than Henry, IMO.
