OK;)

1st round (9) - Trade for (16) and (48)
1st round (16) - Trade for (24) and (56)
1st round (24) - Trade for (32) and (64)

Five Offensive lineman drafted with first 6 selections sounds crazy, but we need it.
Koiser is FA and who knows if his price tag fits our value of him. Davis isn't worth his contract and I think he's history. Of course Columbo is gone.
Thank god Free never got dinged. Exactly who did the 2010 Cowboys have as a reserve LT?

1st round (32)- RT Carmini 6-7 327......Prototype RT. Best shot to start day one.
2nd round (41)- FS Moore 6-1 196......Ball Hawk who could start day one.
2nd round (48)- OG/LT Ijalana 6-4 320.....Could be our best reserve LT day one and that's a need. Will compete for a starting OG spot.
2nd round (56)- OT/OG Love 6-5 315.....Another versital guy who played RT, RG and LG. Could legitimately compete to start at start RT or either OG spot.
2nd round (64)- OC/OG Hudson 6-2 284......We need a future OC and a quality 2011 OC reserve. Do we know Costa's that guy?
3rd round (73)- OG Cannon 6-5 350.... Pure OG with massive size. Makes sense for us with the first guys taken since none are a pure OG and none have great OG size.
4th round (105)- DT Ellis 6-5 340..... Don't know what the off the field stuff is. But these are the best type of 3rd day selections. The guy has 1st rd talent. You give him a short leash. He stays on the right path, awesome. If not, what have you lost?
5th round (137)- ILB
6th round (169)- WR
7th round (210)- RB

Interesting. I like the idea of getting a ton of O-Line. We've had bad luck with them in the past. So, we draft a whole bunch. Increase our chances of success, right? Any chance we sign Mankins and use one of the seconds on an ILB or DE? If so, our line would looks something like this:

LT - Doug Free
LG - Logan Mankins
C - Andre Gurode
RG - Ben Ijalana
RT - Gabe Carimi

Not bad. I kind of like the idea of loading up on O-Line in the draft. As long as other needs are filled in FA.

Drafting so much OL means giving up on a bunch of players who have already been in the system and through the mandatory year of weight training necessary to compete at this level. We won't stretch the number of linement we carry on the overall roster.

I'd also like to see some help at DE, where we've got up to three FA leaving.

Its just not feasible to carry that many rookies.

Draft 1 who can start right away and sign one who can start right away.

Yup, some of those deals would have to include future picks (2012). I like the idea of investing in the o-line, but five lineman is a bit much considering this team's holes.

My reason for liking it was because of the lack of success at drafting O-Line. So, they go to Sam's Club and buy in bulk.

I like it. The OL has been a problem for years. This draft will cure that.

Sign Mankins. Trade down w/ our first and pick up a RT capable of starting. Draft OG and OT in the later rounds capable of backing up. Use our second on FS and the extra second on BPA.

voila!

Free agents and late round draft picks are the reason the OL is in the shape that it is now.

Thanks for the responses.

Five is certainly over doing it. But I really believe we should be in the market for four. Even if one of them is a 3rd day guy. I could live with that.

Here's how I look at the OL as unit. We need 5 starters, we need 9-11 for the final 53 man roster. We carry 14-18 offensive lineman on the 80 man off season roster.

Given our situation, I'd guess we'll make room for as many as 18 offensive lineman and that's my focus.

We're going to get off-season and training camp injuries to the OL. More so than in previous years with a renewed focus on hitting, run game drills and an overall tougher camp.

We need to go into camp with a lot of qualified bodies. Guys we feel have a chance to grow into something by Sept.
