Unlike alot here, I'm not scared of going offense early if the right guy is there.

Me either. If John Ross is there at #28 (which I doubt), I'm running to the podium doing cartwheels on the way.

If you add his deep speed to this offense, we'd be unstoppable. He's about the only offensive player I'd take at #28 regardless of the defensive player on the board.

I would give a nod to O.J. Howard, but he's not replacing Witten immediately and possibly Fournette (a thunder and lightning tandem with Zeke) or McCaffrey because of his versatility. But I'm not as sold on them as I am Ross only because I think Ross steps in immediately but the others, we would have to find a spot in our offense, and I don't think they'd be Day-1 starters (not that they couldn't. I just think we have deeper personnel who would keep them off the field full-time).

I like Njoku, but I think he will have some growing pains. He just doesn't jump out on tape at me like Howard does.

Yeah I think if he is there at #60 taking him is a no brainer. It is highly possible he is BPA at #28.

At first, I said there's no way he goes in the first round. Now, I'm not so sure.

I would take McCaffery in a heartbeat and never look back. Slot receiver. H-back. Back-up RB. Return man.

The only question would be, can these offensive coaches actually use him right. A backfield with McCaffery and Zeke would be insanity. Split one wide in motion. Screens. Draws... I would be foaming at the mouth.

Imagine McCaffery on the Cowboys the way the Packers use Montgomery. Wowow.

You'd just have to be concerned about McCaffrey's durability. But I think he's a player. Never underestimate the work ethic of a son of a former NFL player.

Yeah I would do Ross in a minute.

We have no real speed on this offense at all, Ross would totally change that. Zeke has breakaway speed, but Ross is something we just don't have. Yeah I would do it in a heartbeat, then everyone on the board would go nuts about a DE that might get 5 sacks in his first year.

Course he won't be there.

Who really knows exactly where he will go, but Sirius NFL commentators act like it is a foregone conclusion he goes in the first. If he is there at #28, we should make him a Cowboy. If we can trade back and still get him it is even better.

Quite honestly, the Cowboys' organization might think we are good enough at defensive end if Tapper is healthy. It might not be as high on the needs list as some think it is. Corner might be viewed as the biggest pressing need this year, since we face ODB twice a year and the SB might depend on us being able to defend Julio Jones.

Pick Joe Mixon at 28?
I'm not advocating that at all.

Agreed about the DL. Rebuilding the secondary with players that fit the scheme is a higher priority imo.

Thanks for posting.

If you want to narrow it more, I'd feel pretty confident in saying no way we take McCaffery at 28 or Kupp or Mixon at 60.

And Barnett, Davis, Ross, Williams and Njoku have no chance to be there at 28.

The same for Baker, Awuzie, K. King, Moton, Wilson and Willis at 60.
