Going into this mock with Dallas franchising Dez and signing DE Anthony Spencer back instead of going after a DE in FA.

Round 1 Melvin Gordon RB Wisconsin
With Murray as a FA and the team unable to trust Joseph this looks like a easy to pick call. If Peterson somehow gets to Dallas this pick is useless lol. Gordon right now makes too much sense. He runs inside and outside, catches out of the backfield, and like all rookies he will have to learn the art of pass blocking in the nfl and picking up that blitzer.

Round 2 Mario Edwards Jr SDE Florida State
Big, Strong DE who is stout against the run. Gves some passrush with strength but also does a good job with the stunt and rushing from the inside. Can rush from the standup as the Cowboys do at times with Spencer, and is strong enough to kick inside when they need him to. Versatility is his best attribute, as they can play him at SDE and some 3TECH when they need him to. Very smart and doesnt over pursue on screens and contains that cutback very well.

Round 3 Josh Shaw CB USC
Has the frame to play FS, and could very well make the switch and play in packages where they take Church out, and switch back to CB when Dallas moves Scandrick inside to cover the slot. Very smart on the field, and learns quickly from his mistakes. Played in Kiffins system so he knows the defense Dallas runs. This kind of pick fills alot of holes in the secondary.

Round 4 Jake Fisher OT Oregon
Dallas has tried with Weems and he just doesnt seem very good. They brought him back but at very little. Fisher made the switch from RT to LT and did a very good job for the Ducks. So Dallas will have drafted its new Swing Tackle. And a guy who can challenge Free in a yr or 2.

Round 5 Tyeler Davison DT Fresno State
Strong at the point of attack. Big DT but plays lower then should be able too. Gives Dallas a player who can handle the double team and shield that MLB to make the play on the run. Good type of player to get into the rotation Dallas wants to play.

Round 7 Davis Tull OLB Chattanooga
Small school player who is just productive. Played DE but would be a SAM type of player in the nfl. Good depth early for him and alot of ST work. Think he could be Wilbers replacement.
Round 7 Chris Conley WR Georgia
Type of athlete that can replace Harris. The speed and size to be that special teams guy Dallas loves. Maybe work into the blocking WR Dallas used Harris on in them running formations.

I like this one. Murray will probably stay but I'm ready to move on.
It's not what I envisioned but it's realistic and accomplishes our goals

I don't think Gordon will be there at #27. Love the Edwards pick, though I think he may play DT in Dallas. Prolly all up and down the DL.

I thought so too but Dallas told him they're looking at him as a sde. I can see it because he basically played that role for fsu. Watch the draft breakdown video of him Vs Florida.

Ah, that's right. I did read that. Surprised me a little, though I do like the player. He can really bring it when he wants to. He dominated the game against my boys.

I'm not as wowed by Gordon as most people seem to be, but he's probably a safe pick. I would have a hard time making this pick if Gurley is available despite the injury issue. It's also difficult considering the multiple options at RB later.

Gordon picked up up massive yardage before ever being touched. That will not happen in the NFL. He's not terrible at running though contract but there are some other RBs that are as good or better at running though contact. Some of the defenses he played against seemed a step slow more than him being as fast as it appeared.

This player is difficult to project for me. He his big and strong with good athleticism but he is not all that effective as a pass rusher. He looks like he could be better as his skill seems underdeveloped which seems odd for a big school player.

I like this player. I don't know if he'll be ready to contribute much as a rookie, but he has good upside. The possibility of putting him at Safety is interesting.
Fisher would be a good pick in the 4th. Weems was injured in 2014 so I don't really know where he is development wise, but using a 4th on a OT would be cheap insurance. Weems has the build where I could see them trying him at OG also.

Round 5 Tyeler Davison DT Fresno State
Strong at the point of attack. Big DT but plays lower then should be able too. Gives Dallas a player who can handle the double team and shield that MLB to make the play on the run. Good type of player to get into the rotation Dallas wants to play.
OK, but I'm not certain he is as good as Ken Bishop.
Round 7 Davis Tull OLB Chattanooga
Small school player who is just productive. Played DE but would be a SAM type of player in the nfl. Good depth early for him and alot of ST work. Think he could be Wilbers replacement.
Interesting player. Worth a shot in 7th. I could see a 3-4 team having him rated higher than the Cowboys will have him rated.

Round 7 Chris Conley WR Georgia
Type of athlete that can replace Harris. The speed and size to be that special teams guy Dallas loves. Maybe work into the blocking WR Dallas used Harris on in them running formations.
Seems like the kind of freak athlete that all 32 teams will be considering in the 6th/7th.

Melvin Gordon is the next Trent Richardson. I don't like anything about him.

Can't say I would hate a Gordon pick but I would hope a lot of defenders go off the board early to make him the best value. He's pretty like a plan C option to me.

Not a fan of Edwards unless Rod feels he can play 3 tech. SDE's who can't rush the passer are easy to find and not worth a 2nd rounder imo

Shaw would be a good pick...I too like the idea of him as a FS conversion

I really like Fisher but he's probably a pipe dream at best to make it to the end of the 4th round. He had a pretty decent combine and ranked #74 by draftscout and #106 by scouts inc. I think if we want Fisher it's gotta be in the 3rd....if he even lasts that long.

The rest looks good enough...definitely some interesting athletes

Going into this mock with Dallas franchising Dez and signing DE Anthony Spencer back instead of going after a DE in FA.

Round 1 Melvin Gordon RB Wisconsin

Don't like him. I see too many shortcomings with him and I don't think he's special. Certainly not enough to warrant using my first round pick. If I'm using it, I'm taking Gurley, the guy I think does show those special qualities.

Round 2 Mario Edwards Jr SDE Florida State

If I'm not getting my DE is free agency, I'm not taking "big and strong" and slow as my DE investment. If they didn't get to the quarterback last year, I don't think this player helps make that issue much better.

Round 3 Josh Shaw CB USC

I like this pick a lot and I agree about his versatility. Other than his one big screw-up, I think he's a good kid.

Round 4 Jake Fisher OT Oregon

I saw him as a second rounder before the combine, and his performance there only improved it. While I'd love to have him, I see no way he lasts this long.
