Post-game thoughts:
1st. What a thrilling, topsy-turvy, improbable win...whew! Although I think DAL made the whole affair much more difficult on themselves than it needed to be?
2nd. Huge props to the defense for magically turning a first-half sieve into cast-iron in the second. It would be interesting (instructive, too) to know what changed. Inspired halftime adjustments by the coaching staff? Or was it just dumb luck & bounces of the ball? (I have no idea.)
3rd. Congrats to Dak on his passing record & continued grit in leading the team despite other factors, beyond his control, frequently working against him.
4th. Congrats to George Pickens. As of this date, he is the best football player/MVP on this team, full-stop. And it's not even close. Watched the game with a Pittsburgh fan, and asked more than once: "Tell me again...why did you guys let him go?" The fire & desire to win in him was evident to anyone watching. Despite arbitrary flow-chart designations, he is the de facto #1 WR.
5th. What's up with CeeDee? Has he succumbed to the reputed team curse, wherein the size of a player's contract quickly trends inversely-proportional to the quality of his on-field performance? Is it possible Lamb is intimidated by Pickens? One can't help but notice the repeated drops in critical situations, and general mental disengagement with the game.
6th. BS's play-calling at the opponent's goal-line with the game at stake was inexcusable. In the Cowboys' THIRD chance to take command of the contest, the election was made to made to throw the ball on second & third downs. Why? Way to show the O-line & backfield (with no just cause) that you have zero confidence in them. The results speak for themselves.
7th & Lastly: Why do the team's offensive gurus believe it's genius to hand-off (and risk injury) to WRs, while possessing a reasonably-deep RB stable? Reminiscent of Rocky J. Squirrel admonishing Bullwinkle J. Moose: "Aw, that trick never works!"
Delighted that, despite some curious events, all turned out well on the scoreboard. Just seemed like the game should've been won by double-digits?
