My prediction

Jerry has been able to get away with being a below average GM because of two things:

Tony Romo
Dakota Prescott

He was gifted 2 decent QB's for basically the cost of a late 4th round draft pick.

This has covered over a lot of Jerry's horrendous GM decisions.

Now that Dak's play has fallen down to his limited ability, the team is gonna stink bad.

I am talking 5 and 11 Campo bad.

Jerry can smooth talk over a lot of stuff, but the results of his inabilities are going to show up

on the field where there will be no way he can spin it.

Maybe when we become a perennial loser on the field and are no longer " relevant"

He will change his ways.

Jerry is a proud man and if the product on the field falls below .500 and the National Media

does not care about the Boys anymore, hopefully he will make some meaningful positive changes.
Dak's play has fallen down?

1 game? The Recency bias is strong with this one.

Right. But what are we talking about here, a change in GM or a change in philosophy? Stephen can change his philosophy, or standard operating procedure anytime he wants. Without hiring a GM. Because if the philosophy doesn't change, he'll just not allow a new GM to pick up high priced free agents.
I am thinking it gets bad enough that he hires a real GM and lets him do whatever he wants.
Or a name HC that would have the same power.
IE Jimmy/Parcells type.

Dak looked very up and down the last 10 games of last year.
Was terrible in the Home playoff loss.
Had all off season to work on his game and get healthy,
Then was putrid last Sunday.
I am done with Dak as QB of the Cowboys.
Quality person
Not a quality QB.

I understand. But that's, for all intents and purposes, a change in philosophy. I think everyone wants that.

If you remember correctly, back during the Parcells era was a time that Jerry did go out and get high priced free agents. Their new philosophy started around 2013 or 2014.

I am talking about paying to bring in a HC or GM that has skins on the wall that could do whatever he wanted.
Not likely, but this is what we are down to for hope for the future.
The Jones are not selling the team so trying to think of a realistic scenerios.

That would be admitting they can't do it properly. I'll just be happy if they change their SOP. For them to hire a HC and give him full power, someone would need to find a genie bottle and use up a wish in order for that to happen.

I think prolonged losing could do the trick.
But I also believe in Santa Clause and the tooth fairy...

Agee completely. But unless the Cowboys starting QB went down, they haven't had a losing record using this philosophy. I think this is the 10th year, and 8-8 has been the worst record for Dallas when their QB was healthy.

I think Dak is done. He might be here a couple more years, we could be average...
But then we are looking at Campo,no decent QB , 5 and 11 years coming up.

I mean he has shown in the past that he is at least capable of some level of capitulation. I'm referring to the hiring of Parcells. Maybe it could happen again? (not Parcells, I mean Jerry making a change)

Jerry was motivated by money. He needed BP to get buzz going for the Cowboys, so he could sell his snake oil for the new stadium. It's always about the money with notoriety second.

he was down second half..only had a 99 rating.

Everyone was putrid on Sunday.

He'll hire someone to clean up the mess again like he did with parcels, and fortunately this time he won't be able to take it over and run it into the ditch again because he'll be too old.

At this point I don't care anymore. He managed to turn me from a fanatic who could name the whole team, their age, draft position, and what school they went to, to someone who almost despises them and is embarrassed to be associated with them.

Wow J Allen.
That's the saddest post I have read all week.
:(

Yeah, that was when it was in his best interest to hire a real NFL HC....to appear relevant when Dallas and Arlington were in negotiations with Jerry. He needed a solid and respected HC at the time. Once he had the stadium, back to his old ways..i.e. Wade Phillips, Garrett and now MM... all puppets.
