Here are my random thoughts on what needs to be done to turn this organization around (sorry I don't have the ability to fire the GM):
1.Wave bye bye to Newman, Spencer, James, Brooking, Otree, Bennett, Kosier, Dockery, Campo, and Houck (whose retiring anyhow thankfully)
1a.Re-sign Robinson, and Elam
2..Pluck some cheap cb's (ala Texans) off FA instead of going for the single big fish. I thought about Finnegan real hard as he has the type of attitude I want, but you could probably get both Terrelle Thomas and Tim Jennings for the same price.
3. Guard might be the deepest position of any in this upcoming draft. Take one with one of your first three picks and maybe a second later on.
4.Sign Paul Soliai from the Dolphins and move Ratliff to end. If we're committing to the 3-4 than do what most successful 3-4's do and find a massive tackle and rotate with Brent. Sean Lee will thank you for it.
4a.If you can sign Ahmad Brooks for a reasonable price...go for it. Drafting another OLB (with an edge please) is essential with one of the first three picks...Melvin Ingram, Courtney Upshaw, Bruce Irvin, Ronnell Lewis and Shea McLellin all come to mind.
5.The rest of your draft should be committed to the front seven on defense. Draft two lineman, two lb's and maybe sign someone like Barrett Ruud on the cheap.
The absolute in my philosophy is improving both the offensive and defensive lines....period. No more Kenyon Coleman's and Derrick Dockery's PLEASE!!
