I hate losing to the Giants. But I had a feeling they would lose last night.
Harbaugh had his team ready with a solid game plan for Dallas. Clearly, he looked at the Cowboys roster and knew exactly how he wanted to attack them on both sides of the ball. It's not that hard. Harbaugh is going to make the Giants a much better team and I would not be surprised if they are challenging for the division title at the end of the year.
The Cowboys were outcoached last night and by a wide margin. Christian Parker should be embarrassed. Those 4 little swing passes to the RB to each up the field and score a TD were a joke. That simply should not happen in the NFL. All that CP hype and now we know better.
I thought Bass did an okay job at LG, The OL as a whole did not do a good job. The run blocking is still awful most of the time. The Giants controlled the LOS.
The Cowboys have no pass rush. I don't want to start the Parsons trade thing again, but they miss him. I will say it one more time. Ezeiruaku is too small for the NFL. All the Cowboys outside guys were ineffective last night. The Giants managed to seal the outside off all night and the Cowboys edge guys could not shed their blocks.
What makes it worse is the DBs have no idea what they are doing and even when they do they are not very good. No pass rush + CBs that can't cover = 9 of 11 on 3rd down.
Revel is not very good.
Ogbonnia is better than I thought. In fact, I think the Cowboys interior defensive line is pretty effective. The edge guys are not very good. I was disappointed in the performance of the LBs.
The penalties! I think Dallas had 5 in the first 15 minutes of the game. One was declined.
Aubrey missing a 48 yard extra point is a reminder of his misses late in the season last year. I am starting to worry about him.
I am starting to think it is better to play the starters for a few series in the pre-season. I think it helps prepare the players for the season. Practices are not the same. I get the worry about injuries, but we had a RB get hurt on a Friday walk-through practice. You can't plan in fear.
Tyler Guyton is not any better now than he was last year. I think what we see is what he will be and not much better after 4 or 5 years. Steele is still awful. The Cowboys OL is overrated.
It's just one game and there was some strange games this weekend. We'll have to see how both teams perform the next few weeks but I saw nothing to suggest the Cowboys are any better than last year and I saw plenty to make me think they might be worse. I think the Giants will get better as the year plays out, providing they stay healthy.
