Dak is Neo. that's my entire game analysis:laugh:

My only hope is the OC they bring in next year molds his system 2 Dak instead of vice versa

And don't laugh there's some out there who think they can make Dak a better quarterback in their system

I am very pleased with Dak's game, just wish he passed a little more than the running he was doing -- those read option plays are fine, but I like Dak when he stays in the pocket, and, while a large contingent here likes the designed run plays, I'm not a huge fan -- unless it's in the redzone. Call it ptsd from Cam and Colin. I know it's a strength of his, but his arm is his true strength -- what sets him apart from the Tyrod's and Cam's of the world. And I'm not talking about the scramble, as he's a rook, and it (scrambling when flustered, rather than stepping up) is to be expected, and better, always, than a sack. Still, Dak played great, and perhaps I'm falling victim to the yds stat, lol.

He made some big boy throws yesterday. Some BIG BOY throws. A beaut that isn't getting enough attention is the pass to Butler, the long out against the sidelines that was a blatant PI. It was gorgeous. Dak is Tom Brady. I have a thread somewhere comparing the two, and I think I'm dead on. He was deadly accurate, again. He is Tom (comparatively, as a rook) but with wheels. Doesn't make mistakes, prefers the intermediate or short routes, to the deep routes, but can make all the throws.

As Brady grew in the league, he learned to trust his deep throws/patterns. Dak has all kinds of touch on the deep pass, but he's reluctant cuz he's still wet behind the ears, much like Tom was as a rookie.

The defense is what it is, we all know it and don't like it, but I think this team can do damage as there are very few, if any, complete teams in the league this year. Plus, we forced WSH to go one dementional as has been pointed out, already, so that accounts for some of Cousins' gaudy stats. SEA is probably the closest (to a well-rounded team) as Wilson continues to heal and Graham starts to shine. Baldwin is a stud, and they just got Rawls back. Their D is stout, they scare me. Hoping some scrub team pulls an upset on them in the playoffs so we don't face them lol

But it's looking like it'll be us and them in the NFCC <knock on freaking wood>

I wasn't much in the game thread as I was preoccupied with my largish family and facetiming the boy. But I went in a few times to scream my arse off. Lol

For those of you who haven't chimed in yet, what are you thoughts on the game?? And any others, your thoughts, too! :)

I think Dak looks like Brady when he throws, that classic straight overhand delivery.

A lot of Cousins' yards came at the end of the first half and the end of the game when we were playing prevent.

I don't have much of a problem with Dak taking off and running as long as he keeps it to a minimum. Gotta add, though, I'm relieved that he doesn't do that with the regularity that many other rookies such as RGIII used to before his injury. It's a risk that shouldn't be taken unless his receivers are covered and the pass rush threatens to abuse him as well. I think he routinely adheres to that formula. I also think his downfield vision is clearly better than most QBs. It'll hold him in good stead throughout his pro career, along with the quick decision making that he routinely employs.

Right now, and a proponent of the QB setting his feet and the importance of that, Dakota Prescott is throws better while on the move. When he gets the mechanics under control, I see a better John Elway.....

I also love that he's a throw first, run second, QB. Didn't expect that.

He's so coachable it ain't even funny....

I love those plays when a DL gets a hand on him and Dak barely notices. Its funny how the NFL goes in cycles, there was a point where all teams wanted a Bledsoe/Eli Manning QB that was tall and goofy but had a rocket arm. Then there was a phase for mobile QBs like Russell Wilson.

Maybe Dak is the start of the next wave - a field general built like a linebacker.
I like that

Man i wish he would of hit Dez on that play he cooked Norman so badly Lol
You and me both @freddy0227 it would've really been the knockout shot for the Skins. I'm not trying to make this a Romo vs Dak thing here but if Romo was in there on that play he spots this easily and went for the TD, because how well he reads coverage but Dak will get better at this we can guarantee that.

I still see a lot of McNair in him, and that's not a slight at all. Air McNair was the truth. Also don't think his ceiling is higher than Cams, but I love Cam.
Exactly and there isn't anything wrong with comparing him to the late Steve "Air" McNair imo he does has some McNair in him.

Dak has improved so much already that it's ridiculous. I'm just stunned that he's even close to as good as Romo at this point, with less than 3/4 of a season in the NFL.

There isn't anything wrong with seeing him as you see fit, and perhaps I was a bit harsh, Ring.

Everyone sees our rook differently, it's very apparent. I need to tone down my over-assertive opinion at times -- apologies if I came across as condescending. You, too, @Proof . :)

Speaking of random thoughts... Here are 3rd Cousins' thoughts (i.e. complaints) about the sun at AT&T:

“But at the same time, I thought about it, because I wanted to run over [to the sideline] and say, ‘Hey guys, like from a play-calling standpoint, it’s going to be a lot easier to throw screens, to throw check-downs, to run the football, bubble screens — something shorter, because down the field, seven-step drops are going to be a little harder in the sun.'”

“In the first series of the game, it was tough on the receivers, because I’m throwing and the sun’s at my back,” he said. “But the receivers are looking back for the ball.

“We threw a deep ball to DeSean and he really couldn’t find it. When I threw it, I tried to bring him across the field, and by the time he looked back, he couldn’t find the ball and it ended up just falling incomplete.”

“It’s just a part of the deal,” he said. “Now that the stadium’s been there for several years, it’s kind of become knowledge around the league that if you play at a 4, 4:30 game there in Dallas, it’s gonna be like that. But I guess it was more than I had expected and it was unfortunate, but, like I said, both teams had to deal with it and it’s just part of playing there.”

Dallas can use Jerry's World as a potent HCA, especially vs pass happy teams. Receivers can't catch when they can't see. Won't affect us much because we rarely throw 50 yard bombs and our bread and butter is the run game (which the sunlight has no effect on).

Good observation, T. Just to add, I thought a few times Dak left the pocket a little early. The pocket held up and was actually pretty good. He still had a good pocket to step into, but decided to run out of it and pass a little prematurely, IMO. Although he still had successful plays in these instances, I am little concerned about that against better defenses moving forward.

There is still some growth room between Dez Bryant and Dak Prescott. Dez was wide open for a sure touchdown, and that won't go unnoticed in the future.

Great post Trouty.

I really can't wait to see Dak vs NY in the rematch. In the first matchup they threw the gauntlet at him. I want to see what audibles he'll make. I expect him to thrive in the rematch since he does a good job of making adjustments in general.

The closest to NY style of defense was BAL in how they can cause trouble in their run defense and have a swsrming; physical secondary. Dak completed 19/20 of his last passes in that game.

Dak will only get better with time and that will be a scary thing for the NFL. Scary in a sense where teams will fear him like the do Brady, Rodgers and Manning. I can even throw in the way our fan base felt when we had to face McNaab during the time frame where Philly dominated the East.

No problem Trouty you're a brilliant fan of this team and I enjoy reading your posts.
