Since Jerry can't bear ro fire JG, why not promote him to GM ?
If Jerry's ego won't allow that, how about asst to the GM ?
We have seemed to draft better and JG has bought in a better attitude, and disipline to the team, he just is not a good X and O guy.
His offence is outdated and predictable.

If JG was moved to the front office we could them bring in a legit HC, OC and DC.

As painful as it might be I would only keep Miles, Witten, Spencer, and Ware if they would take a serious paycut.
Their production is not worth their current pay.
We need to free money up to sign Dez and Tyrone.

I would also draft heavily for the Oline and Dline the next couple of drafts.

I wouldn't mind JG as asst. GM. He'd do well getting the RKP (Right kind of personell). But this will never happen. Not sure what to expect for the rest of this messed up season, or fast approaching offseason.

Granted, we stank up the place in NO ... but we still have half the season to play. NO was probably our biggest and toughest opponent. The rest of the way is much easier.

We'll probably finish 8-8 as predicted ... and see how the chips fall with the NFCE.

Garrett is not going to be a GM. Even if he is fired he will either land a job as an asst or OC somewhere right away or go to to TV. Then he'll slip back into the saddle again.

This.

If Garrett was fired he would not remain with the organization in any capacity.

The only coaching position he will get is a position coach or some scrub division 1 school, looking for PR, max...

If Dave Campo came back, this guy would.. His family lives him some Jerry, considering he supports them all with high paying checks for below average work...

There's no way he ends up on TV. He is charisma free. He would end up as a QB coach someplace.

Don't think so! He'll stay in the pros. Unless......drum roll.......he gets a huge offer at a big time college. He does have Saban on his side IIRC. I don't think Jerry will fire him and I think that is a gutsy call. The offensive plays look decent so far. The execution esp Romo does not. Take notes boys and girls because I don't dump on Romo a great deal. That might change if I could see all the film....without the lights going out repeatedly.

His brother also was gonna get a big gig for his impressive work as passing game coordinator for the Cowboys... He was also gonna make Ogletree the star there, because it's obvious Romo's execution was at fault there....

Elaborate more. I say so because you are one of the few posters worth reading anymore, on this board.

Last time Garrett's plan was in full effect when Romo wasn't around to UN-execute, our beloved Kitna threw 12 INTs and 6 fumbles, while the offense tried running the ball as well. Brad Johnson also made this offense click.

Why thank you but I can't say more until I see the entire film and that takes me awhile. Can't finish right now but at least the lights are on...for now.

Im all for moving on from garrett and romo.

Romo for cap reasons isnt going anywhere yet so one step at a time. Id bring in norv turner as oc and see if he can make something out of romos last couple of years since we are essentially stuck with him anyway.

Id even be ok with garrett sticking around over that period as long as he had abdolutely no influence on the offense.

For the record though I am convinced this team is going nowhere with Romo and Garrett

It would be hard for me to see Jerry firing JG.
This would be a way he could replace him as coach and save face.

So the idea would be to give Garrett yet another undeserved promotion to another job he's not qualified for?

Sorry, but I've seen enough of that one.

I would like to see him fired. One, because his performance dictates it, and two, to shut up all those who still think he'd quickly be hired by anyone else.

I don't think Garrett has an eye for talent. I do think he's good at developing talent.

If you were to go into each team's draft room and get a hold of their draft boards, you would find that the rankins on these players are very similar for roughly 30-31 teams.

The key is a coach that develops the talent. That's what the NFL is about.

Unfortunately for us, the position that has to be developed the most is the QB. You must pass the ball effectively. And I think Garrett has been able to develop some good players on offense, but the playcalling is so bad and with Romo regressing along with Witten, the QB position is not developing well.

I don't think Jerry's 'eye for talent' is the problem. It's more that we do not continually look to trade down in the draft so we can acquire more talent. Trading away picks for Roy Williams was a bad mistake. The same for trading up to get Mo Claiborne. It didn't cost us a ton of picks, but you're better off having 2 players instead of 1 when it comes to the draft because if anything, the injury rate in the NFL makes things unpredictable.

I think our problems are more related towards philosophy than talent grading. Along with 'seeing the forest for the trees'. We tend to make personnel, coaching and draft decisions that look great in the short term...but when everything plays out we start to see how they never considered the long term and those decisions that looked great at the time really lose their luster.

I'm not against Jerry stepping down. If anything, I would be happy just so I don't have to constantly hear about it. But, I don't see it happening and I don't think his eye for talent is the problem. And what we've heard from every former coach over the past 10 years, he's not some meddling owner that controls things. We still need for him to see things that the coaching staff can't see because that is what a good GM does.

I don't see this happening with our offense's productivity

TV? With that personality or lack thereof? I don't see it.
