It's about espn and not the product. For the clowns at espn it's about everything but football. Selling their stupid shows, breaking out crusty morons like Berman, and a bunch of talking heads trying to strengthen their brand and followers. They are wretched. They would be better served calling themselves tmz north.

It's not surprising that Monday Night Football ratings are declining. ESPN is a slowly dying business as 3 million people cut the cable cord each year, and that figure appears to be getting worse based on the numbers from Oct and Nov.

In October ESPN lost 621,000 subscribers according to Nielsen media estimates, which was the worst month in the company's history. In November things weren't much better -- ESPN lost another 555,000 subscribers according to Nielsen media estimates, meaning that the worst month in the history of ESPN was followed up by the second worst month in ESPN history. ESPN has now lost a jaw-dropping 1.176 million subscribers in the past two months.

As far as the ratings, for Monday nights, it's a variety of factors. Cord cutters being the most logical, but the kneeling during the anthem hurt as well to a degree.

Other issues are a watered down product, or over saturation with games on Thursday, Sunday and Monday to go along with bad teams playing in a lot of these prime time match-ups.

Another issue is the DFF sites being cracked down on. People here hate it, but it brought in viewers which is good for the game. Combine all of that with the people getting rid of ESPN and you are going to see a decline over the next few years.

Another thing that I've noticed among the youths is they generally aren't as in to sports in general. There's so much to do now that young people aren't flocking to the TVs to catch the sporting events like previous generations have. It's why you see games live broadcast to things like twitter. They also don't trust/like the NFL or its players. Things like the Rice or Hardy incident really have an impact on todays youth, who are all in on the SJ issues.

The NFL better find a way to bring Millenials into the fold at a higher number or they will be facing ratings decreases much more significantly over the next decade.

Don't think the lower viewership means no one is watching. Just few people than before.

My response is always the same. Better games = higher viewerhsip.

Pretty sure a lot of people tuned in during out 4 win season last year as well. The Cowboys, good or bad, draw viewers.

No one is tuning in to watch the Jaguars win 4 games, that's for sure.

VIAGRA shouldn't be a sponsor for a family oriented TV program. Wacky refs, poor calls, and poor play sucks the life out of a game. The endless emphasis on fantasy football and shows like GMFB are aimed at millennials who don't watch sports in the first place. They should bring back press conferences and real football coverage and get rid of the tackle my ride crap because their targeted audience ain't watching anyway.

8,000 commercials, tons of penalties, boring commentary and a lot of lackluster games.

Did I miss any?

WAY too long to review plays for penalties. No one knows a simple freaking catch is anymore and quite frankly, a lot of it is on the players who don't view the opponent with complete disdain anymore. The hated rivalries are slowly dying. Instead players can be seen laughing it up with the opponent after the game despite having gotten their ***** kicked in the game.

Why is the NFL in trouble? The list is long and it is what it is because the NFL THEMSELVES put themselves in this position. The bottom line is.........$ as usual, has ruined it.

It's a miracle that Brady and the Patriots were able to recover from such a deficit. No wonder he is so valuable.

Brady is a great QB, but you do have to wonder if it's coaching or Brady. I agree, without Brady, they were moving right along as if he was there. I myself have Brady fatigue. I'm tired of him and Rogers. I'm shocked that Brees isn't in this mix his typical stats. The whole MVP thing is basically meaningless. It goes to who the league thinks people want, not who should truly get it.

Brady - didn't play the whole season, and the team seemed to win without him. The replacement QBs did well.
Rogers - Several weeks ago their was a discussion if he's losing it.
Ryan - has had a solid year. I wouldn't be upset if he got it.
Brees - On a losing team, but putting up great numbers
Carr - Like Ryan, solid year before injury.
Dak - I would love to see it, but is his success because of Zeke and OL?
Zeke - I would love to see this as well, but like Dak, is his success because of Dak and OL?

A lot of people are cutting the cable and getting used to not watching ESPN. I am one of those. Plus a start of of 8:30 pm EST makes the game over around 11:30 pm EST.

I've been saying for weeks that Dak and Zeke are must watch TV. They're arguably the two biggest stars in the league right now.

And EVERYONE wants a Brady vs. Dak Super Bowl. Ratings gold. Rookie gets the veterans job due to injury and never gives it back. Oh the story lines. And ESPN would run with that 24/7.

Nobody wants NE vs. GB, or KC, or Pitt, or Atlanta, or Wash, or any of the other teams.

It's not just about Dak and Zeke- It's the Dallas Cowboys. Cowboys are the most watched team, win or lose. And have you noticed that over the pass few years we have had very few Monday night games? Arrogant as this may sound- the Cowboys are ratings.
