Take out Tanney and throw in Livings or another interior lineman to be named later and I'm good with this.

Tanney won't make it to the practice squad and you would be foolish to let him walk for a guard that will never be active and will always be there to be resigned anyways. Even if we were to sign Waters or upgrade guard elsewhere I wouldn't mind removing Bell, Moore, McCray, or even Lissemore to keep Tanney around.

I could live with McCray off this team but he is our best special teams player, so I'd hate to let him walk. Tanney wouldn't be active on most game days either unless Romo was already suffering from an injury.

With Leary's bad knee, sure Cowboys will keep at least 4 guards. Tanney right now doesn't deserve a spot. If he shines in the next 2 games, then yes. If they want Tanney that bad, then they keep 3 rb's.

Oh ya, but with Dunbar's injury and status for the opener, they most likely keep 4. So I can't see Tanney making it.

It has nothing to do with him being active, it has to do with protecting him from going to another team..........same as Parcells did in 03 to keep Romo

Agree with everything except Tanney. He will make the ps but not the 53. I agree it should be an extra guard like livings or someone currently on another teams roster.

Here's my 53:

QB(2) PS or cut Tanney. If not Tanney on PS then could place another teams cut QB. He's to old to develop awaiting Romo's demise(4-6 yrs). If we lose him we lose him. No need to look for another QB until 2015,Boykins- spelling?? from UCF.

RB(3) Cut Tanner and sign another teams cut of a short yardage downhill runner for PS and hope he learns Playbook in short order. This would save a roster spot, cap space and give the team a more complete set of running styles. Dunbar will be back week 1 or 2.

WR(6) Add Anthony Armstrong as sixth receiver. He makes plays and will show up strongly on STs. D. Coale on PS.

TE(4) Agree with 4 listed plus put Andre Smith on PS.

T(3) Cut Bell and add E. Coughman G/T to PS.

G(4) Leary, Arkin, Bernadeau, One other G from a trade, cut from another team, Waters, etc.

C(2) Frederick, Costa

DE(4) Spencer, Ware, Wilbur, Selvie

DT(5) Ratliff, Hatcher, Hayden, Bass, ??Lissemore. One or more on PS if, eligible-Long,Pendleton,Cohen,Gibson

OLB(4) Agree with 4 listed.

ILB(2) Agree with 2 listed. Reed on PS

CB(6) Agree with 5 listed plus Underwood or another teams cut. Feel like the CB group will have Major problems this year-talent, injuries, etc.

S(4) Cut McCray and use Moore as the swing S/CB. Place Heath and Hamilton on PS.

We are not going to be a really good defense until we solve the problems in the secondary--up the seam, to much space in between receivers and defenders resulting in catches and many yards after catch.

K/P/LS(3) agree with the 3 listed.

Actually that's only 52, so leaves room for one more addition. Probably to many on PS. Not sure what this leaves for STs, but I tried to be proactive instead of reactive with my selections and get more talent in areas needed plus cut cap space.

I don't know if Tanney has a future, but it's got to be worth more than a special team only guy like McCray, or a gurney man like Johnson.

I think the allure of getting another high upside QB basically for free will be too much for the club to pass up.

QB-Tanney showed me enough to try and develop him some more. You aren't getting him onto the PS after some see that tape.
RB- I need to see more of Randle. Right now I'd keep Tanner. I had them keeping four RBs but Tanney takes someones roster spot away somewhere.
WR- The 5th spot is still open but Beasley looks to keep it. There will be more injuries before the roster is set so you never know.
TE- Right now Rosario makes it as the F back but this spot isn't sewn up yet. Mumblings about Smith. Too much angst about the blocking from the TEs. It's not going to be great no matter but it'll be ok in the end.
T- I don't know who the 4th tackle will be. Bell probably but they like Weems to develop. Parnell better step up.
G- Some surprises with Leary and Arkin esp the latter. They may keep four here don't know who maybe Livings if he's not on IR. Not sure here.
C- no suspense here. Just avoid injuries please.
DE- Looks good. Hate the loss of Crawford. Somebody may surprise here. Bass can play DE so they could keep him and add a true DE. Maybe a vet likely not. Selvie and Wilber don't have spots quite yet.
Look out for Gibson. I need to see more but I think he's a player.
OLB- Interesting position. Might move Sims back to ILB
ILB- Lee and Sims. McGee needs to show something. I've got Gibson penciled in at OLB but maybe he can play ILB too. Need to see more of both. Like Holloman but he's got to grow. He'll get some snaps/STs
CB- Webb is the 5th but there is competition for #5. I wondered about six here but not now.
S- Church, Allen and then question marks. Wilcox is gonna be a player. I have no idea when he'll be ready to play primetime tho. I don't know if Johnson can stay on the field much less play. They like Johnson tho. McCray manages to stick if someone can play or step up. Guys got nine lives.
STs set

Injuries and last minute changes may unsettle the bottom of the roster. I certainly hope not the starters.
