Feels good to wake up 1-0. Feels good to get the division win. Feels good to beat the Giants.

I really like the direction the team is heading under Garrett. I like the attitude of the team. I like the effort of the team. And I like the fact that something he emphasized at the very outset (turnovers) became a reality before our eyes.

What I didn't like was the slow start on offense. I would still like to see Tony play with more calm. I think the reason for slow starts is that he is too hyped up at times. He missed some throws he should make early on.

I would have liked to see us stay with the run in some situations, but overall we ran it more often and better than the Giants did.

I thought it was CRIMINAL that we got 6 turnovers and had to seal the game with one at the end. When you get 6 turnovers you ought to win BIG.

The defense looked good on the turnover side of things, but pass defense is a concern when we give up 450 or so.

Kansas City will be tough in Kansas City, you can be sure of that. But I think we have a chance to get off to a 2-0 start. I think we have the stuff to have a really good year.

I concur, but you do realize the games vs the Gnats rarely go without some sort of craziness! Ill take a ugly win or a pretty loss ANY DAY! 1-0 baby!

Garrett didn't emphasize anything, that would be Rod and Monte. Garrett still hasn't proven his worth yet. There will be a point in time in the next 16 weeks where he will get his chance to show his worth.

Yes he did. You just don't want to acknowledge it. Like it or not friend this is Garrett's team. It reflects him from top to bottom in terms of the things he emphasizes and what he preaches. The roster has been completely reworked since he took over. And I like where it is headed.

I will add, however, that I love the coaching hires. And there is no doubt that this defense reflects the emphasis and the contribution of Kiffin and Marinelli. Two smart choices and I think we will see big dividends.

Agreed. The credit for the TOs should go to monte and rod. They are the difference thus far in the TO ratio.

So are you saying he only emphasized it THIS year and just forgot to do so the last couple of years?

I'll make a prediction. The more we win this year (and we will), the more people will try to shift credit from Garrett to others. Why? Because folks have been so on record with their dislike for Garrett. Its a hard thing to admit you're wrong.

JG's offense still sucks. I hope he is smart enough to let go a little and let Callahan implement some of his ideas.

Of course not. I'm saying we have the defensive coaching staff in place to emphasize what he wanted emphasized. I think he deserves credit and so do they. Is that allowable? :)

I think Garrett is great with offense. I think Callahan is great too. I hope they put their heads together and we continue to improve. I think the one thing that nobody still wants to acknowledge is that you could be Bill Walsh and until you get the offensive line to do the things you need to do, you are going to be hit and miss.

So next time instead of just giving the credit to Garrett instead of even mentioning the main two most due the credit in Rod and Monte...you will give credit where credit is due.

Just saying.

Lol smh. I guess after 6 years he had a epiphany about turnovers. Yay

I think if you will look at the post I added mention of Kiffin and Marinelli. So you will give credit to Garrett right? Just sayin.

So, tell me sir, what would it take for you to say Garrett is doing a good job? Tell me your criteria in advance so I can see if you will remain true to it as the season progresses.

If that's the case JJ should be the one to get all the credit.

I don't think JJ is the one who has emphasized the things Garrett has. I think JJ has been convinced by Garrett to head the direction they have headed. I'm grateful he has. I think JJ deserves credit for a lot of things if this works out. I think SJ does too.

I agree that Tony gets too hyped early in big games. I don't think that alone explains the slow starts, though. We seem to get more bad WR adjustments early, too. I don't know what it is, exactly. Maybe we're better as coaches at making adjustments than we are at game planning heading in. Maybe Tony's more effective when he's not running off of the early script. Whatever it is, I wish they'd address it somehow. Playing with a lead would be really big for this team, in particular, given the playmakers we've got on defense and what we're trying to do in the running game.

I can't name anything tangible. Happy?

Great observations Idgit. I agree.
