With a bunch of players being out the Cowboys are fired up after beating the Chargers and now they get the Eagles at home Monday night. The Cowboys finally won a game not scoring 30 or more points for the first time since 2018 so now they know they can win with their defense (when is the last time they were able to say that). On offense the Cowboys have a two headed monster in the backfield with Zeke and Pollard an I expect to see more of the same come Monday, however, the Cowboys are loaded on offense so the Eagles are going to have their hands full trying to stop it. Defensively the Cowboys are still a little bit short handed but they did a great job moving Parsons to D-end and it worked pretty well for them. All of a sudden the Cowboy's defense is a turnover making machine and they lead the league in that category. I'm a little worried about the Cowboy's special teams but Greg the Leg has made two clutch kicks so that eases the tension a little bit. Now for the outcome, I think that the Eagle will be able to move the ball a little bit because everyone does on the Cowboys but the deciding factor will be the turnovers and the Cowboys defense will get at least three more and I also like their ability to run the football so I love the Cowboys in this one.

Cowboys 30
Eagles 20

For me this needs to be a comfortable win to have confidence this season. The Eagles are not good and Dallas is home. They have injuries but other than Lawrence I don’t think any really hurt. The offense is so stacked right now. I see Zeke getting more into it. Gregory back will be huge for the D. I think Parsons is a game changing talent. If I am Quinn I tell him to key on JH. Just focus on the QB. If he runs go run him down. If he throws get in his grill. Just punish him at every opportunity. Dallas should win by 10 plus.

This will be an interesting game for Dallas. They are down at least 6 starters and possibly 8 of Cooper and Neal cannot play. That's a lot of guy to be missing. They are pretty healthy on offense, which is the good news. They are missing Collins, but the Eagles are missing Brandon Graham so Steele gets a little bit of a break. Still, the Eagles strength on defense is in the middle of the DL and they are healthy there. he Cowboys weakness on the OL is in the middle with Biadasz and Williams. Biadasz has been bull rushed into the QB the last two weeks by Vita Vea and Linval Joseph. I expect him to get the same treatment from Fletcher Cox.

But it is the defense of the Cowboys that is really hurting. They are missing Demarcus Lawrence and his backup, Dorance Armstrong. In the middle, where they weren't very strong to begin with, they are missing Gallimore and Watkins, and if you want to count Trysten Hill, then that's 3 guys who should be in the rotation that are missing. They will be counting on Chauncey Golston to play DE even though he has not played a down in the NFL, preseason or regular games.

I think the Eagles offensive line will control whoever is left on the Cowboys DL, even if their starter, Mailata is out.

My thoughts are, if Dallas wins this game it will show something we have not seen from them since 2016. It will take great effort by the backups and other players, and superior coaching by McCarthy and Quinn.

At the same time, it is early in the season. Dallas will be getting all of these players back at some point. Maybe the injury bug goes away and when at full strength the Cowboys will go on a run late to make the playoffs and win a few playoff games. I am concerned that when the injury bug strikes, it is relentless. The other question is how many more Cowboys will hit the COVID reserve list over the next month?

I think we handle the Eagles as long as we keep Hurts in check. He can get hot but when frustrated, he’s terrible.

If the line can protect Prescott I like Dallas in this one. And I don’t think Philadelphia can go toe to toe with this offense.

Just hate to wait until Monday night. Wish all games were 1pm EST kickoff.

I look for a ugly win. Both teams are missing big pieces but Dallas is getting scrappy on defense. I just finished rewatching the Chargers game. How did we get Kearse for change?

Actually, as the game approaches. I am getting a little concerned.
Yes it is at home, we look to be the better team. But it is a divisional game also.

And we are missing a lot of players on defense. Not just starters, but some depth guys as well on the DL.
We are without Gallup, and Cooper has rib issues. Though Steel played well last week, and the Eagles Graham is out. That should help. Who knows what will happen this week.
Eagles are without one of their OL, so that helps some also.

But I am concerned over all of the defensive players being out.

Would love to see us blow them out. But it’s a division game. They are tough.

Have you not watched many NFC East battles? This is going to come down to the end most likely! And to say the eagles aren't very good, or the cowboys are good it's too early at this point. Just watch the game and enjoy it if we get a win.... everybody's trying to build to the playoffs we don't know who anyone is really at this point except for a couple of teams.

The recipe for us to win is pretty simple IMO….

1. Run the ball effectively with Zeke and TP— work over Graham’s backup and wear them out on the edges with screens and short passes as well
2. Control TOP
3. Play with the lead
4. Limit Philly’s offensive possessions to keep the D fresh
5. Be aggressive against their OTs with all kinds of blitz and pressure looks— keep Hurts uncomfortable
6. Commit Parsons to RDE against the backup LT. Gregory as LDE vs Johnson
7. Use Cox and his speed at LBer to spy Hurts on passing downs
8. Play smart and safe Special Teams (fingers crossed lol)
9. If needed, play 3-4 looks to give DL breathers
10. Keep the crowd engaged and loud to make things as hard as possible on Hurts and the offense

I hear ya. You mentioned Cox but their other DT Hargrave is playing at an extremely high level which presents more probs for the Biasdaz/Williams combo. So my main concern for the outcome of the game is Cowboys OL v. Eagles DL.

But I will stop right there. Because I thought not only did Steele play poorly in his 14 starts last year, but I saw the same poor performance in pre season.

So after his excellent play last week I better throttle back a bit before foreshadowing another poor OL performance.

Fingers crossed for another solid outing in the trenches from the Cowboys OL.

I have a little more confidence in Quinn adjusting personnel assignments even with all the missing starters.

It’s a home game vs a divisional rival. It needs to be a win if this team is a serious contender for the playoffs.

There's one thing the Cowboys have to do, and that's contain Hurts. That's it. Hurts is a one read quarterback. If it's not there he improvises. He's still playing college football. If we get beat by this team then we're in serious trouble.

2 things i see being said alot

A. "we need to run the ball" ... This beagles D has a strength and its stopping the run.....again that secondary can be had for cheap...we need to throw to get a lead....Then we can start Milking the clock with the run.
B. "We need to contain Hurts" ... This Beagles O has a strength its running the ball...While i agree Spying Hurts is the best plan on passing downs, we have to get there by stopping the run (including QB options we will see).

Two headed monster? So original how do you ever think of that? :muttley:

The concern for me is Hargrave. If he is blowing up the A gap we'll have trouble running. I can see this going in the same route as our opener. Lots of quick passes. Their strength is on that Dline.

On defense we just need to contain Hurts. I'm confident in this regime that previous ones.

1981---- exactly...we have dealt with Cox over the years....but Hargrave is blowing up A gap which is actually the worst for QB....having monster running up middle....you cant step up...you have to go left or right and depending on blocking can be hazardous...i am thinking quick passes laterally either side receivers or...Zeke plows into hargrave as blocker for Dak and Dak slides either side and looks to get rid of ball faster which
he has done so much better than past years....or dump off screens?....what you think?
