After a 2-3 start, this is what I see as our issues.

Offense:
Need to stop forcing it to Dez and allow the offense to flow. Dez is a playmaker and can high point the ball better than anyone. That pass was on the play caller and the throw was also off, as it went to the inside of Dez making it impossible for him to catch it. The Oline starting showing some continuity in the second half as I saw some runs that resembled last season. I also saw Dak play with that eye of the tiger, especially on our last drive. I felt super confident he wouldn't let us down. My only concern was the time issue at the end. Were we going to give AR12 too much time? Which now leads me to the next topic, our defense.

We need body stuffers in the DT spot. Hypothetical- In 10 snaps which DT we have on our current roster would command a double team on at least 6 snaps?

This is our biggest issue on defense. We won't stop the run with these "fast twitch" DTs. I've constantly argued on this philosophy when it comes to the DT spots. With these DTs that can't consistently get pushed we will have extra blockers at the second level and we continue to see 2nd & 4 downs.

It is a small challenge to judge our LBs when they get no help upfront and they constantly see free releases into the second level. Give them a Dline that pushes and I can give a full assessment on them. Jaylon is still learning and I won't give up on him. IMO he's not a Mike. He's a Will, but so is Lee, which lies the problem on personnel on the field with having two Wills.

Our secondary is horrid on Tha back end with Heath and Jones on the field. Lewis is legit. I know he got beat on that TD play, but no CB in the NFL makes a play on that. Jones IMO should be used on situational downs where we need him to cover in man vs the other teams slot WR or a TE like Gronk. That is his strength, not to sit back and play CF. He doesn't have the vision to do so.

We need to bulk up the one tech spot and have Woods and Frazier man the safety spots moving forward. Having bigger bodies will have us see more 3rd & 7 plays on defense which makes the play call to defend easier on our DBs.

The play calling is horrid. I hear Buck complain on how GB is playing two safeties back and we did the same thing vs the Rams a week prior on the final drive. This bend but don't break style of defense will get us killed when we play GB and ATL. They can score in the redzone. Our scheme plays into their hands. It's just frustrating to watch at times when we have CBs playing far off and on predictable run downs LBs are playing off as well.

After yesterday's loss the homer in me said, we're getting them in GB in January. It'll be sweet revenge.

I know many of us say this. Maybe Jones is a better corner. He seems to man up well. He has size. Maybe he and Lewis could be our starters. Cheeto could maybe be a safety some draft analyst thought was his best position. It’ll be hard to find out with him hurt almost always.

I know the staff won’t make these changes this year.

I see LB as a bigger issue than the secondary. Lee is great but injuries will always be a concern, especially as he gets older. Hitchens is best used as a dependable backup for all 3 positions. Smith is a great story, but I don’t think he’ll ever be close to the player he once was. It’s very thin there.

The DBs would look a lot better with a better front 7.

When Jones played CB he did not do as well as hoped, and was then moved to his current position. I fear that what we see is what we have: a world class athelete that looks good in gym clothes and a business suit, but is just an an average NFL player who will disappoint when we need him to make game- changing plays, but on a lot of downs, does an OK job and goes unnoticed by the fans when he is just OK.

I agree with the front 7 impact, but as safeties, you should be taking consistent angles on tackles. Jones doesn't look like he wants to hit and seems to want to avoid impact head on which is the wrong approach to a safety when you look at the tenacity that safeties like Swearinger, and others play with.

I agree with most of the OP. Enough with the jump balls to Dez. It’s a low percentage play. 8 times out of 10 he ain’t coming down with it.

Revenge? If that were a workable concept with this group.

I'm afraid it's pretty much what Dez has left in his arsenal. Not a whole lot of separation. Pass has to be perfect or jump ball. I don't hate on Dez but that's how I see it.

Dez’s best, most effective route is the slant. It baffles me that we don’t use it more.
