Best part of that game for me was watching Jerry Jones walking down being honored as a HOF inductee. Well deserved for the best owner in sports.

Now the game, lets not kid ourselves this was a televised practice, so vanilla.

Im going to start with something i said after the draft. Anthony Brown will be the guy who will be lost in the depth at CB. Before he was hurt he was struggling against scrubs. Think Dallas will be going with Scandrick and Awuzie week one as starters and Lewis and not Brown as the 3rd CB. Carroll will be suspended.

The story is the middle of the DL. Think Dallas is gonna have to play Crawford inside more then they would want to because of the lack of quality depth there. IM glad Dallas drafted CBs but they did ignore the DT posistion.

Damontre Moore was a very pleasant suprise. He showed a fast anticipation for the snap and a better game against the run than what was expected. Again it was against backups but he has the speed this team is looking for.

Rico Gathers will be Wittens backup even after just 1 preseason game ill say that now. He is a very good blocker, and he's too big for DBs and he showed LBers are going to struggle to cover him.

Brice Butler just makes plays when given chances. It doesnt matter if its against scrubs or starters. When they throw him the ball he moves the chains. He was the best player on the field, from either team.

Jonathon Cooper is Dallas' starting LG. While you can tell he has lost some mobility and balance from all them leg injuries, its something he can gain back with more game time. What seperates him is his technique and his ability to get his hands in good spots to keep guys occupied inside.

Moore needs to def not be the backup. He had some nice throws against bad backups for AZ. Against starters he has 3-4 ints on them ducks he was throwing. He's smart and knows the offense but he just doesnt have the arm.

Nice post LM!

Gathers was good but Garcia said he missed 7 assignments out of 60 snaps.

Having watched him the lion's share of his mistakes were playing inline as the Y.

He is not remotely ready to backup Witten there.

Is that completely missed or didn't quite execute properly. I saw some snaps where he didn't quite execute properly but it's not like he had no clue or went the wrong way on those. I'm not saying there were not any complete missed assignments, I just question if there were 7 complete misses.

So you're saying that your eyes told you that what you had predicted about Brown was indeed correct...

There were a few inline plays where he blocked no one. That was in the run game. I thought his pass pro was surprisingly good.

I'm not worried about it. Zone blocking and option routes are advanced concepts and deciding who to block amongst several defenders has to be instantaneous when your inline.

The pad level and finish can be worked on. Nonetheless his progress has been remarkable.

Love all these wrote ups. I appreciate all of them. It's great hearing each writer's take.

It's one game and a bunch of rookies and 2nd year players. New to the scheme and all that usual stuff.
I will see how they adjust and play in this next game. See what they learned and corrected in a week.

how many does witten miss or the other backup miss on a 'regular' basis?

No im saying that i just back after the draft he would get lost in depth. He was OK with safety help. But he was a PI magnet. Think the top 3 CBs will be Carroll,Awuzie, Scandrick. But until Carroll gets back from suspension which he will get. I think itll be Lewis instead of Brown.

Not sure 15 snaps in a scrimmage is more indicative than the entire season last year. Brown will be OK.

He had trouble with scrubs. Starters shouldnt have that kind of trouble.

Collins, was heads above his competition.
Jones, made alot of plays
Cooper, was good inside
Wilson made plays even had a sack FF.
Butler Dominated
Moore who isnt a starter even showed off alot of speed and couldnt be blocked on running plays.

Brown is just avg. He can spot start if needed but IMO theres better talent on this team

The signs are there that Brown isn't going to start. If he does I think it is only because Carroll may be suspended for his DUI. Scandrick is a better corner if he is 100%. Brown likely would be in the slot but also appears that they are really trying hard to find a spot for Awuzie.

You realize he was one of the leagues best corners in the last 5 REAL games of last season--against starters.

Nolan Carroll starting makes my skin crawl. If he's one of our three best CBs this season, we in trouble.
