It's funny how fast Cowboy fans turn on the team with a loss but quickly jump back on the wagon once they win a couple. But these same fans will riddle this forum with call out threads and posts. I know this will offend alot but if it does look in the mirror because it probably fits you 100%. We dont need to go to espn and nfln to watch paid people hate on this team, when we can come to cowboyszone and get it for free. No subscription required.
I get it though, people just dont like Jerry, or JG, or Dak, and everybody is entitled to their own opinion. But, to come here daily to see thread after thread hijacked by the same people i can see why alot of the older posters have stopped posting. It gets obnoxious to see post after post seeing posters trying to out-clever eachother with team and organization insults.
Dak, wether he got no help or all the help in the world from his WRs needs to get better in accuracy. What i see is a guy who is trying to make plays when theres guys running free at him, and gets caught up in what most QBs do and throwing with bad foot placement. IN situations like this i would rather see him tuck the ball away and run for 5-6 yrds rather than a incomplete or a INT. Alot of his problems came from the left side though. The inability of Tyrons replacements to keep a consistent block kept the team from running productive pass plays.

This was mainly because Elliot wasnt on the field. Yes this team did its job in rushing when Elliot was out but why? Because teams let them and focused on the backend. We heard this every week from commentary during the game and during the week from opposing players and talk heads and blogs. Morris and Smith didnt scare anybody, so they kept 5-6 in the box, while when Elliot is in there they keep atleast 7 in the box religiously. Wether you love Dak or hate him he's Dallas' QB for the present and the future. Look at the first 26 games of his career (65.7comp 548yrds 39tds 8int 103.89rating 8rush tds) and thats what you will get. Not the 8 games without his once in a generation RB and a healthy OL.
Dallas needs more speed and better execution from the skilled posistions on offense. We saw this when Elliot was out, who else other than Elliot scared opposing defenses? Nobody.
Dez, he just isnt the same Wr anymore. Leg injury after leg injury and taken something from him, and now he suffers from tendinitis. IDK if he has the ability of even is willing to switch up his game like great WRs did before him. When players like Tim Brown, Larry Fitzgerald, Hines Ward ect lost that step they transformed their game to become great possession WRs. I dont think Dez can do that. I think he's like Randy Moss, once he lost that step he turned into just a distraction.
TW, Beasley and Switzer are just guys. Maybe Beasley can bounce back if Dallas can open up the field for him. But aslong as teams play him with a S or LBin his vicinity to help he's not going to do anything.
TW and Dez are just the same type of WR. Neither scare anybody deep and you have to basically throw the ball perfect to them for them you to feel sure its gonna be a catch. They drop too many passes that its hard to trust them. Aikman said a couple weeks ago its hard to gain a QBs trust when you're dropping so many easy balls. To WRs defense he did say Dak needs to work on his footwork to better his accuracy but then said "but its not like these passes are out of reach, they should be caught".
Witten is one of the all-time Cowboy greats but he's being selfish IMO. He can get open because he's a HOF and he just knows how. But he's keeping this team from developing any young TE. They possibly have something in Rico but reality is he wont get much playing time with Witten still on the field. Wittens earned the right to be selfish, but at what cost to the team?
Dallas needs to get Tyron right, with him healthy this OL is the best in the NFL. Because basically he is the best OL in the NFL. Cowboys have a solid starting 5, but have taken a hit in dpeth with the departure of Leary and Free. Basically Cooper and Collins were the depth. I dont think anybody saw Green as a liability because when he had to play in 2016 the OL was fine. Maybe they just need to keep him at swing tackle. He played exclusively at G this yr until Tyron went down. Cooper is going to be this teams LG so just keep Green outside. Dallas should draft atleast 1 OL in this draft. If they move Green back outside draft a G if they keep him inside draft a T and call it a day.
This draft should be mostly dedicated to the offense as last yr was mostly def. And i really think multiple WRs should be drafted. This is a big yr for RBs in this draft and i would scoop one up and let him have some comp with Smith.
On defense this team has a couple needs but the core of this defense is young and is set. While we thought Irving was a cornerstone, Rumors are Dallas might just put a R2 tender on him to see if anybody bites. Dallas has a collection of young DL with speed and buy into what Marinelli wants.
Demarcus Lawrence himself knows he's not going anywhere. If a deal cant be worked out he will get franchised but IMO there is no chance he gets franchised. Its so much cheaper for 2018 to just get a deal worked out where his cap hit for 2018 will be under 7mil easy. Add in Taco who just got better as the yr went along. He's not going to be a double digit sack guy IMO but he will get after the QB. And he plays the run very good on the right side.
At LBer i think we are going to see Jaylon Smith healthy and ready to go in 2018. He starting playing with leverage at the end of the yr and it showed. You can tell he has better talent than any LBer Dallas has even more than Lee. But Lee just executes better than anybody in the NFL. He studies and knows what the offense is going to do.
The secondary is so much better then the start of the yr its actually pretty amazing. Lewis and Awuzie are the total opposite of Claiborn and Carr. These two make plays on the ball and tackle in the run game. Brown seems to have settled in slot with Woods coming in the dime. Frazier and Heath seem to be a better combination than any combination that involes Byron Jones.
While im a believer in what this team has, im not saying this team doesnt have holes and needs better players. Because im not. This team def needs to improve at WR, OL depth, DL depth, LB depth.
