mr Prox==ihave been reading others analysis on woods and he is playing as our best safety and should start...quite remarkable for rookieHeath is one of those guys that has fallen into CZ whipping boy status and will likely never shake it....no matter what.
I'm curious though OP, what do you make of Woods so far?
You're describing Jones to a T. He's the one afraid of contact. Heath is more than willing to hit but he's so reckless that he's either whiffing or taking out a teammate most of the time.He can’t play SS if he doesn’t want to be physical. Heath is so afraid of making contact that he would rather wait for the play to come to him rather than make something happen himself.
Woods on the other hand clearly has a nose for the ball. He wraps up and puts his guy on the ground about as well I’ve seen any of our safeties do in a long time.
Same here, Mike. We are so lucky to have X here with us.Nice analysis.
I appreciate takes on players that are done with a little more thoroughness.
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You've never touched a boob, have you?
I saw a lot of calls to cut Heath this week so on one of my review iterations I decided to focus on Safety.
I'm generally neutral on Heath.
In the Rams game he had the one very visible gaff on the pass to Gurley were Gurley ran down the middle of the field basically untouched. I think this one play is the reason people were calling for Heath to be cut.
Other than that play I didn't see that much to complain about. He doesn't make big plays but he does not screw up much either. Obviously there are some plays for most players that could be better but he was generally OK.
He missed more than 1 full series in the first half. I don't know the reason.
There were a couple of plays were he would have looked better if Jaylon had been better. They both went to the same side of a blocker when Jaylon clearly should have stayed on his original side.
Woods played Safety some this game where he had played slot CB against Denver and a mix against AZ. He and Frazier both got snaps at Safety when Jones was down covering the TE.
Jones was really good.
Rocket Scientists make big money and chics like guys with money...

Some posters here thought the same. Think there were a couple of threads on itThis analysis is no better than Stephen Jones telling the fan base the defense is better than last years in the offseason.
Good grief.
Tell me the time in the game and I'll re-review those plays...I saw multiple run plays in which he took horrible angles. Looks very similar to JJ Wilcox. I'm thinking he is a decent backup/special teams player
Hopefully your joking...What is an iteration? Is that what you need on one of those guided tours?
We've been over PFF here repeatedly. They are garbage. He is 60th in tackling efficiency against the run among 62 safeties who have played more than 50 percent of their defense’s snaps, via Pro Football Focus
Woods played a decent amount of snaps at Safety this week. Jones played much of the game down at the line covering the TE.I mean do we have any other choice? I don't think Woods is ready. This is no mid-season solution to this problem. I don't know what the hell they were thinking going into the season with him as the starter.
He played a significant amount this week.Woods needs more reps...
He played mostly CB until this week. He was OK this week at Safety but it's far from conclusive.mr Prox==ihave been reading others analysis on woods and he is playing as our best safety and should start...quite remarkable for rookie
No, I have not seen Jones avoid contact. You're describing Jones to a T. He's the one afraid of contact. Heath is more than willing to hit but he's so reckless that he's either whiffing or taking out a teammate most of the time.
Thanks X, I really like these kinds of posts. I think you express a really good point, we (I?) all focus on that one glaring play but don't look at the big picture. I think safety play can be difficult to judge given the variety of schemes as well.
What I think the problem might be is the coaching staff (and us) judged Heath last year on some really impressive splash plays in a limited amount of time, and that now that there is a bigger sample size we aren't impressed. He's probably not the team's biggest issue, but given the enthusiasm around Woods, maybe fans and FO are excited to see him in a bigger role. Again though, I'm profess some ignorance into schemes so its never a "Woods can play Heath's spot every down"
Your thoughts on who?I saw a lot of calls to cut Heath this week so on one of my review iterations I decided to focus on Safety.

There was a video from the Denver game where he runs to a wr to block him. Lol it was ridiculousNo, I have not seen Jones avoid contact.
