My Thoughts On Monday Morning...

WOW….hard to say anything else than that after watching that game…

I think there are some high school teams with a better O-line than us…I want them GONE…I want 3-4 new starters next year that are LEGIT lineman.

They have gotten soo bad that even Troy Aikman said in the fourth quarter that he has never before seen a QB under that much duress and pressure every time he tries to throw the ball.

They CANNOT run block--they CANNOT pass block…..Sad,sad,sad……

And Don’t get me started on our ineffective WR corps. Terry Glenn is the ONLY LEGIT WR we have on the roster (and is constantly doubled covered because of it)…Keyshawn needs to be cut in the off-season. We MUST sign a true #1 to start opposite Terry Glenn and sign a TRUE #2 for depth. Maybe Pierless Price---Oh wait, we already did that. We did not put him in our game plan and then RELEASED him after mid season.

DEFENSE?? Our once great 6th ranked D has fallen off the planet…I don’t know how to explain why they are getting WORSE and NOT better in the second half of the season…This is the time they were supposed to be peaking.

Can ANYONE explain that??

While we still have an outside chance at the final wild card spot, It's a shame to know that even if the miracle happens it's hard to imagine us playing more than the first week with the implosion of our team….

So, the time has come to start thinking about the 2006 season…To wipe the slate clean and start all over once again. Another long year of down time waiting for Free-Agency---the Draft--Minicamps--training camp---preseason--and FINALLY September gets here…

So many months to wait….And JUST THINK…..What COULD have been in 2005…….

I can try to explain it. Most rooks, I said most not all, usually hit a wall around game 11. Theyve been playing 11 games or a few more most of their careers.

Most of our starting D are rookies, due to talent or injuries. Some will get better just on the natural talent they have. I STILL strongly believe that Ware, Ratliff, Canty, Spears, Burnett, Barber, and Pettity will get better.

Too bad Dallas fans dont have more patience, those 7 could be building blocks to a great dynasty. Ok forgive my spin-doctoring trying to feel better today.

I'll give ya my explanation...

Parcells coaches the instincts out of the young guys...take a look at Roy, he's gone from a human highlight reel to what we see this year.

My guess is that the young guys start out full of energy...and then get coached into being afraid to make mistakes...because, well would any of them like the treatment that Parcells gave McBriar yesterday?

So, they play scared...

Not good.

I agree with the rooks and other young and inexperienced players in the front 7. They have decided to give Ellis and Glover less playing time. That gives valuable experience to Spears, Canty and Johnson, but with youth comes mistakes. The linebackers are all young and new to the scheme.

Actually I totally agree with you particularly re our defense. Have said for weeks that our rookies hit the wall and with so many rookies on defense there is no way to hide it. It also hasn't helped that we lost our w starting LBs which is a position where we had the least depth. Defense will be great again next year when rookies have participated in offseason workout program and we add at least 1 LB and a FS.

Bingo!!

I have never liked Parcells style of coaching. He puts together great personnel but he does NOT get the most out of his players. Sure he has his guys who like the way he does things and he gets the most out of them, but I just can't imagine that most players want to get treated like that.

As for Terry Glenn being the only legit receiver we have; if that is true we are in even worse shape than I thought. It was Glenn who was dropping passes that hit him right in the stomach and who was getting alligator arms over the middle. I think Crayton may be the only legit receiver we have but he doesn't get in the game that much. At any rate it is hard to tell if the receivers are any good or not with Bledsoe having some D-lineman or other draped around his shoulders every time he starts to throw.

Yeah, Lawrence Taylor and Curtis Martin sure got the 'instincts' coached out of them. Those guys woudl have been sure fire HOFers if Bill hadn't messed them up so bad.

Oh wait....

You're theory would carry a whole lot more weight with someone who didn't Bill's track record of developing excellent players on both sides of the ball.

Also, Bledsoe and Glenn have said numerous times that Bill is actually much more mellow and player-friendly than he used to be. Maybe the problem is he's gone too soft? ;)

I agree the OL should be revamped. I mean, Commanders front four are not exactly Bears and they had done practically nothing before the game. OUr OL made them look like all-pros. This game reminds me of our MNF against eagles. If your LT gives up multiple sacks to Trent Cole (5th round rookie of iggles) and Philips Daniels (4 sacks total in last three seasons and he got four in yesterday game alone), you know your OL sucks.

First, get rid of Tucker ASAP. I mean he should be cut immediately. I do not care if our next LT option is Jerry Jones. If you gave up four sacks to Philips Daniels (which is Kenyon Coleman of Commanders), you have no business playing in this league.

Next, Get rid of whoever/s are/is scouting for OL. Since we hit the jackpot in Flo, which was essentially a non-brainer, we have drafted the following in high rounds:
Solomn Page (No.2 in 1999, out of league now)
Andrew Gurode (No.2 in 2002)
Al Jonshon ( No.2 in 2003)
Jacob Rodgers (No.2 in 2004) and Stephen Peterman (No.3)
That is five high picks with only one starter by default.

3. Under a new OL coach/OL scouting team, we should select one tackle in first two rounds. I do not want to reach for certain LT while a stud QB/WR is available in draft. However, a starting tackle should be drafted in April. Rob Petiti can be backup to both tackle position.

4. We should draft another or two OL in later round, kinda like what we did to defensive line in last year draft.

I am fine with Bledsoe/JJ/MBIII as long as we have some blocking line before them.

We are getting NO pressure on the QB. What else is new, right. Where is Roy and all his blitz opportunitites? We really need Henry to be 100% to try to cover Steve Smith this week. He is the ONLY guy that Jake looks for, and we need Roy up at the line of scrimmage putting pressure on a poor man's Brett Favre. (only in regards to how he chucks it up for grabs)
