My thoughts on the Cowboys Commanders game.

I know its done and over but here are my thoughts. Ok the last time we played the Skins was the 2nd time this season right. Ok so why would we in our right mind play them to beat them knowing that we may face them a third time? It just wouldn't make any sense and I'll tell you why. Going in to this game we had a decision to make it was play hard or not play hard. We could play hard show weapons that we really don't want to expose going into the playoffs beat the Skins and hope that they don't go into the playoffs that only being by other teams losing. What a F****** gamble that would have been!! If we would have played hard and won they would have had a field day going over that game for 2 weeks before we met again assuming that the Skins make it through the Hawks. So yeah we play our starters the ones that are not injured anyway because sitting them for 3 weeks really wouldn't be a good idea. So they are told play but don't over do it if you think you can make a big play but you may take a hard hit doing so then just DON'T DO IT!! This game was completly pointless to us considering they still could have made it to the playoffs even if we beat them. I think Phillips knew what he was doing all along and if we meet the Skins again they will be in a world of hurt!!!

We'll see if we win today. Its always nice to beat you but the week 17 game is just a footnote compared to if we beat you in the playoffs. Even though you rested some people, you did have everybody else and its not like we've been healthy all year. We took it to you guys. Its a rivalry and I seriously doubt Wade said "tackle them but don't take a hit". If you were at the game you could see your guys getting visibly frustrated after getting shut down.

That being said, I can distinctly remember getting embarrassed in Philly during a regular season game and then taking it to them about 5 weeks later at Philly in the wild card. So I can definitely recall a lackluster performance being turned around in short time for the playoffs.

One thing about NFC East games is that they rarely follow any kind of script.

We'll see if we win today. Its always nice to beat you but the week 17 game is just a footnote compared to if we beat you in the playoffs. Even though you rested some people, you did have everybody else and its not like we've been healthy all year. We took it to you guys. Its a rivalry and I seriously doubt Wade said "tackle them but don't take a hit". If you were at the game you could see your guys getting visibly frustrated after getting shut down.

That being said, I can distinctly remember getting embarrassed in Philly during a regular season game and then taking it to them about 5 weeks later at Philly in the wild card. So I can definitely recall a lackluster performance being turned around in short time for the playoffs.

I don't see what you saw during the game. Frustration could be any number of things like,

"I can't wait for this game to be over so we can think about the playoffs."
"It sucks playing a team that needs this game because they are going all out so it will be a long game."

You're missing the point about that game, regardless of who played, it was MEANINGLESS to us. It's extremely difficult to get up for a game when you know you're only gonna play a qtr or half and there's ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on the line for you. The game meant NOTHING to us. WP said they didn't even game plan for the game. Our mission was to come out of the game without any INJURIES and we accomplished that for the most part. Your team on the other hand was playing for its playoff life. That makes a HUGE difference. HUGE!!!!

I'm not so sure about that. The Skins fans I know still think they can win the super bowl just because they beat the Dallas Cowboys. I'm finding more and more who simply lack some reality based thinking. You guys better be ready today for Seattle. Should you lose I know a lot of people that will need help in from off the ledge.

Wow a sane thread. I think the Cowboys went in there thinking it wouldn't be easy to win but they would play their starters-get their individual records and be out by end of first quarter or middle of second. Then give it a close game or even a win. But they didn't account for the fired up mentality of the Skins effectively enough and didn't have the playbook or preparedness to match it for that game.

Now if it was a must win for the Cowboys, it would have been a much different game. Albeit I wouldn't have guaranteed a win either.

Regardless of how you try to spin it the Cowboys where in preseason mode for that game. you might very well be in for a reality check tonight

I'm not at that point. I'm containing my excitement until after this game, although its admittedly difficult not to think ahead to Dallas just because its been 25 years since we've had a playoff game with you.

If we take Seattle at Qwest that would be making a big statement.

lol you were a good team in 1991 (the only one to beat us all year with our starters playing) and it was obvious a dynasty was brewing with you being the young team and we had a bunch of guys from 80's SuperBowls at their last hurrah. I have no doubt the NFC Championship would have been alot closer. Still though I remember Jimmy taking alot of chances with an onside kick in the middle of the game, long TD pass jump ball to Harper at end of half etc. I think you were 6-5 headed into that game and were losing hold of the wildcard spot so you guys came out inspired and handled us. Score was 24-14 before we scored a late TD to bring it to within 3.

Yeah I can definitely see what you are saying based on past experience. I just want to have the playoff game because I want bragging rights for the summer if we win.

I am hope like He** that the Commanders win....they are the most irrational fans in the NFL....every big win means they are super bowl bound....every big loss means they are the worst team in the NFL....it makes for a lot of fun since I live 10 mins from Ashburn Park

Geez guys!!! Games like the Commanders games are the kind you are supposed to forget. What was wrong with it was the play calling. We should have pounded the ball with MB3. Julius should have been locked out of the stadium. Defense should have blitz.

I remember when the team of the 90's and many Dallas citizenry found out it was a rivalry. It was when a Reporter brought it up during an interview, and everyone was like San Fransisco is our rivalry.

I still have an old VHS recording of that game even though i no longer have a VCR i can't seem to throw that tape away
