My thoughts on the Draft

Dez Bryant Wow simply wow. Did we really get the best WR in the draft? I love it. I didn't expect them to go WR in round one we never do. But I'm glad we did. WR was a much needed position now that we have our #1 in Austin to put Dez Bryant along side of him....Championship! Easily this draft in no way shape of form can be bad because of this pick no matter who the cowboys draft it can't be bad we won the draft with this pick or so I thought.

Sean Lee*sigh* as excited and hype I was for the draft this guy just totally deflated all of my hopes and dreams. This guy just totally killed my draft spirit all the hype I had for the draft. *sigh* Just to clarify my disdain for this pick. Going into the draft I felt as though ILB was a need. I think James is terrible Brookings is old Carp blows and Williams and Hodge are question marks. So I look at the size of this guy his size tells me he's fit for more of a 4-3. I look at his scouting report and see that one of his weakness is in coverage and he's not the best at blitzing or get away from the block her just racks up tackles. Then the cowboys plan to use him as the nickel backer. The only upside is that he may mean that Carp will no longer be a cowboy which is good. The fact we traded up for this pick is also another reason I didn't like it.

Akwasi Owusu-Ansah I like this guy I really do however, I felt there were better safeties than a Division 2 CB that's going to convert to Safety. I think the fact we traded up for Lee forced our hand on this pick. There were definitely FS who played higher quality opponents and produced more than a guy who is a project to the say the least.

Sam Young I normally like guys like this. 4 year starter from a major school Blue Chip prospect. He has the pedigree and all that other stuff. However, I feel as though there were better OT and to come away with a OT that doesn't even project to a LT is really disheartening.

Jamar Wall Seems like a steal to get this guy late. Maybe he can make the squad. I think maybe he can have some impact on this team.

Sean Lissemore Don't know much about this guy but maybe he can be Rat's back up or play some end. He seems to be athletic so maybe he can make the squad.

I think the Dez Bryant pick was great. We drafted value instead of need and missed out on players who could of have an impact on our roster. I feel as though we missed on a lot of future starters.

At first I was down on the Lee pick as well, but after reading up on the kid, I am very excited about him. He is one of the top ILB to come out, and if it weren't for injuries he could of been the top ILB. Wade looked stoked to get Lee, and the man can judge LB. Plus the endorsement that Singletary gave about him just pushed me into the Lee camp. If he can stay healthy, he should be a solid ILB for years to come.

Campo said that Akwasi was rated athletically higher than some of the higher round safeties. He should be sitting for a year trying to learn the coverages. If he can learn the coverages, he has all the physical tools to lock up that safety spot.

The only pick I was really down on was Sam Young. He seems really slow, and a 4 year starter at ND going in the 6th round is meh. Our coaches are going to have to really max out this kid in order to get a return on him.

I think that if Lee can stay healthy he could be a major contributor this year.He has to stay healthy though.

Akwasi is a small school prospect that could turn into something special.I like it when Dallas drafts small school prospects because they have had some success in that area.Or it atleast seems as if they have had some success in that area to me anyway.

I'm kind of impartial towards the 2 6th round picks.

The Lissemore kid could be an intriguing pick as well.High motor guy that has some ability to go with it.

*sigh* uniformed and posting are a bad combination but more then the norm for you. I dont know why I try, it's like teaching a dog to use the toilet but here we go.

Sean Lee 6'2" 236 (yet to hit a NFL weight room)
Keith Brooking 6'2' 241
Bradie James 6'2" 247
Patrick Willis 6'1" 240
James Farrior 6'2" 243

Really could go all day but it's pointless. I'm probably giving you too much credit to assume you will figure out why

CBS: Understands routes and has enough straight-line speed to stay with most running backs and tight ends. High backpedal, but has improved his drop to get deep enough to prevent first downs. Can change direction when running downhill smoothly, but doesn't flip his hips quickly. Very good key-and-diagnose skills and a good burst to close

CBS: Often asked to blitz in this scheme as a stand-up rusher. Good initial burst from the outside to get past the tackle. Needs to improve his explosiveness to quickly disengage from blockers. Shows some lower-body strength and use of leverage for the bull rush, but could improve in this area. Only marginal use of pass-rush technique -- relies on his good lateral agility and straight-line speed to elude. Good closing speed on the quarterback and has the body control to re-direct. Times his blitzes effectively with the snap count.

NFL Draft Bible: An intelligent and instinctive player that naturally flows to the ball and racks up a ton of tackles, Lee reportedly feels quicker than ever. Plus, he’s just as strong as he is swift, while also having the ability to rush the passer and do damage in coverage. In fact, in 2007, the standout linebacker had eight pass breakups. The baby-faced enforcer is an intense competitor who loves to hit.

National Football Post:
A tough, instinctive linebacker ... He's a better athlete than given credit for and does a nice job getting a deep drop in Cover 2 looks.
Lee possesses good ball skills when asked to make a play on the throw and displays that sixth sense in his game. He takes good angles in pursuit and knows how to break down and wrap up in space.

NFL Draft 101:Leader on the field. Keeps everyone else around him lined up and in good position. ... Makes most of tackles up the middle. Looks the part of every great Penn St Middle Linebacker. ... Underrated pass coverage skills

Again, I will stop there cause I could go all day......

I'm surprised that you took the time to dismantle his usual nonsense, but good job nonetheless. Well done!

He has the r2a effect on me. It's like fetish porn. You know it's wrong, often disturbing and hardly anyone understands it but you cant turn away.

lol yeah you really put too much effort into both of these guys, i have a hard time not saying things to R2A as well, half the time i already have a reply typed out but then think whats the point? and delete it.

great job on the quick info put together though

Dez Bryant----esctatic..ecstatic...esctatac, hell, I am happy to get DEZ. He EVENTUALLY will be on the other side of Miles and breath some FIRE into the offense. One thing about this guy is he has some of the biggest hands you will see----no fumbles in college, period.

Sean Lee---got more talent and skill then we give him credit for. Yeah, at first I was disappointed, but I have warmed up to the pick. Spoke to a PSU alum who follows them closely and he is a player----great leader for your defense, leads by example, gets to the ball inside and out. ONLY drawback was his injury which set him back to 2--3 round range instead of 1st.

AOA----I think this guy will be our FS in 2011 or 2012 at latest, in the meantime he will help us in ST. I am not worried about the competition he faced in Div II. He dominated them. I would be worried if he didn't.

Sam Young----no comment, next question.

Jamar Wall---not sure, but he did face some great WR in the Big 12 during his career and Crabtree in practice. So we'll see.

Sean Lissemore----another guy I am warming up to. But we have a load of players in this position---he does have a Ratliff type motor on him and plays with a mean streak so that is good. Hope he separates himself from the rest and gets plenty of action in preseason to see what he can do.

An excellent, yet completely wasted, job of showing that the guy, as usual, hasn't done any homework and just runs off at his mouth.

I'm pretty sure he already showed his true feelings on the Lee pick in another thread when he complained about him simply because he's white. The moment he did that it was as far as you really needed to read to know his lack of knowledge on the player.

It might not have been you. There is another guy here who posts a lot like you and has a similiar name, and I'm always confusing you two.

But given your lack of knowledge on Lee I wouldn't have been surprised. :p

But if that was the other poster then I appologize for getting you mixed up.
