The first thing to look at is really who the 7 inactives will be.

1. Joseph Randle
2. Andre Smith/Dante Rosario
3. Darrion Weems
4. David Arkin
5. George Selvie
6. Nick Cohen
7. Eric Frampton

The first thing I've seen is a concerted effort to build a strong special teams core after what was a fairly embarrassing preseason for the special teams. We've draft position, and roster spots specifically for the special teams players. We kept McCray and simply had him take a cut in salary in order to retain him. We traded for a special teams player, and we kept a lot of safeties, who are primarily going to be playing special teams. Given that, I think these players will be on the 46 man roster, more so than most of the depth we have at a lot of positions.

I don't think we would take 5 tight ends on game day and probably not 4 running backs. The flexibility we have with players on our offensive line will be used in case of emergencies on the line. I think the flexibility with the linemen will allow us to go shorter there. Somewhat surprised that Kowalski didn't make the team, but his injury issues have well, been an issue.

I think Randle is going to find a difficult time to get playing time. Either that or Tanner will. I think he ran pretty well in the preseason finale though.

I think we'll see a practice squad that consists of

1. Alex Tanney
2. Brandon Magee
3. Jakar Hamilton
4. Taylor Reed
5. Eric Rogers
6. Danny Coale
7. Tim Benford*
8. Micah Pellerin*

Not sure the last two are eligible

Other than the fact that we went so short at LB and CB, I don't think there were really any huge surprises here.

I got his first name from another thread. They were wrong, and I was wrong to repeat it.

I was genuinely asking, it is Landon Cohen isn't it? I get the names jumbled of that batch of D-Linemen we brought in around late July

Rosario and Frampton are here because of Special Teams. I don't see them being inactive; although, Frampton had an injury issue and might not be active for game 1.

There will be 2 OLinemen inactive. Weems might or might not be active. If Free is playing OG, then they would have to move Free to OT in the event of an injury to Tyron or Parnell. They sometimes use linemen as wedge busters on special teams. This could affect the active player choice.

Cohen and Selvie seem like good choices on the DL; although, Lissemore has some injury issues that could affect his status for game 1.

Beasley is another option. He is doubtful to play special teams and is the 5th WR on a team that wants to feature the 2 TE set.

I don't expect Cohen to be inactive as he is a valuable rotational piece in a thin defensive line

I do not see selvie being inactive. selvie gets better pass rush and experience then what Wilber will provide as the third down lineman.

Rosario and Frampton are both special teams keepers. No reason to keep them if they are inactive on game day. With Beasley, he isn't a special team player, he is strictly a backup slot receiver. But, Romo said last season that they had some plays just to take advantage of Beasley's strengths. And, again, there is no reason to even keep him on the 53 if he is going to be inactive.
Arkin, yeah probably inactive just like last year.
Weems, yep.
I think Heath starts out inactive and as he learns and improves on special teams he will be activated and Frampton or McCray will be released.
Wilcox- same as Heath. If they were confident in his ability to contribute on special teams, they did not need to keep Frampton and McCray. And, as much as Wilcox looks like the real deal, he isn't ready to play in games that count.
Randle- probably inactive. Missed so much of training camp that he isn't ready to contribute yet. When his is ready, I believe Tanner will be in jeopardy.
Cohen/Lissemore- one of them will be inactive.
Andre Smith- still a rookie. Rosario plays special teams.
