I'm going make this short because I hate the FanZone after a loss.

  • Defense played very well. Their biggest issue was the offense kept leaving them hanging.
  • Rob Ryan has this defense prepared every week. That can't be said about the offense. Several of the players don't know what they are supposed to be doing. They are commiting dumb penalties. The offense keeps shooting itself in the foot. Romo has to be wanting to pull his hair out right about now.
  • I think the Cowboys need to hire an offensive coordinator. Not because I don't think Jason can do it, but because I think he is overworked. The offensive players aren't properly prepared on game day. Someone has to get them prepared. He obviously doesn't have enough time to do it and his other coaches aren't getting it done either.
  • If the Cowboys could have even somewhat executed on offense, they could have beat the Pats by a wide margin and Belicheat knows this. The Cowboys offensive ineptitude beat the entire Cowboys team.

Defense plays well but too often I see schemefail with a 3 man rush - too little pressure on Brady on that last drive. Seemed like we sat back and were so concerned with the big play defense that we didn't mind to get rolled 10 yards at a time.

Cowboys absolutely need an OC. Been on that train a while now, welcome aboard everyone...

Teams that can't score in the red zone don't win. Maybe if we start calling it the Ginger Zone we'll get better playcalling down there.

I agree that Jason should hire himself an OC. I think he is doing an okay job there but he needs to be focused on the big picture and not micromanaging the offense.

This sums up my feelings as well. The offense has issues but that does not excuse the defense giving up a late TD, imo. If this was one of few times, I'd write it off as well it was Brady. They give up way too many 4th quarter scores and have going back to the Phillips era.

No doubt in my mind JG needs an OC. He's always done a great job until the red zone and struggled there and it's getting worse, imo. For the most part, we score TD's on big plays. We seem to get worse the closer to the goal we get.

The closer you get the more you need a running game.

If we accept that we cannot run in the red zone, we will come out in spread formation and throw the ball instead of coming out in power formation and being limited in our throwing options.

It would be good to work Bryant on some isolations. We should practice this 500 times a week until Romo/Dez have it down pat.

I wonder if having three rookies on the OL has anything to do with anything?

Of course it does. Also having bone heads like Ogletree and many times Dez. I've seen Dez run as many incorrect routes as Ogletree.

I don't usually try and project next season because there is a lot of football to be played and I still believe that Dallas will be in the mix in December. Having said that, if Carter can play up to Sean Lee's level and Dallas addresses the interior of the line, they will be a force in 2011.

I not so willing to give Ryan a passing grade as you are although I do think his defense played well overall. What concerns me is that he got conservative on that last drive and went to two and three man rushes. He should have kept coming after Brady the same way they did for 57 minutes. Also, the defense's 3rd down efficiency was awful! Brady converted way too many 3rd downs when it mattered. This area has to improve.

Who would've thought the kicking game would have been the area with the most consistency this year?

Other than that, there hasn't been a whole lot else Dallas can hang their hat on this year. Every other element of their game has been hit or miss. Maybe as the schedule lightens up they'll be able to play consistenty enough to find an identity and some confidence. If the Cowboys were a fighter, you'd schedule them a few tomato cans to rebuild their confidence.

We did lack any pressure on Brady down the stretch. I don't care how many people are in coverage, if Brady gets all day to look around he will find someone.

We held Brady on his offense to 20 points at their house, including a crucial 3 and out late in that game. The D played really well.

The problem here is offensive playcalling and even the owner said it.

I don't see the purpose of having Garrett here at all if we're replacing his offensive playcalling duties. The team is still making boneheaded mistakes. The penalty disparity was tremendous yesterday, and we were even coming off of a bye week. Its not like he has been pristine in his game management either. I think he's a smart guy and will figure it all out down the road at some point, but his time has clearly not arrived yet.

Because nobody accuses this team of quitting anymore. Between 2008-2010, other players accused this team of quitting/being soft/etc. Fans here have short memories.

I merely stated that we didn't pressure Brady at a particular, key point in the game, which is true. I never said the defense didn't have a good game or that it was to blame for the loss. Overall I was thrilled with the defense, I just thought we needed more pressure on Brady on that last NE drive.

It's all fluff and excuses. This season is the same crap as the last 3-4. He's being outcoached and his offenses can score TDs in the redzone. He's the second coming of Zampese. Started out redhot, but now teams have figured him out and he's dunzoes.

At least Zampese got us another super bowl before becoming exposed. All Garrett has to show is that huge blowout where his offense didn't show up with Minny in the playoffs on his resume. Great.
