With whats going on this offseason involving this group its clear the team thinks Dak isnt the problem, but rather the WRs. They show this by going out and bringing in two WRs and releasing its "#1". I think this team knows it did itself in in trying to force feed Dez.
Dallas added Hurns who can play inside and outside who has had the success TW hasnt. And he probably replaces TW in the starying lineup. Then they added a guy in Thompson who will take Butlers place as the deep threat. Pure speed who most likely wont give much in the short to intermediate game, but come in and play the role Butler had.
That leaves the number 1. I think this is 2 players in this draft. Have to believe their first choice is Ridley, and their backup is Sutton. Would be ok with either of these picks too. With Ridley you have a guy who can play any spot inside and outside. He would allow the team to play that college type scheme they want to insert into their system by words of the jones'. With Sutton they get that posession WR who most likely will come off the field in them bunch sets they want to start running. With guys like Hurns, Thompson and beasley coming in with possibly TW as the 4th WR.
My preference would be Ridley because he stays on the field for any set. He gives you more options and is polished as a WR. You cant coach being a smart player, the player has to be willing to put in the time to do the little things. Something they just couldnt get Dez to do.
I think Dallas goes 6 deep at Wr this yr.
Calvin Ridley
Allen Hurns
Cole Beasley
Terrance Williams
Deonte Thompson
Ryan Switzer
Ridley and Thompson are really good route runners, Hurns and Beasley know how to find holes in the defense, TW makes really tough catches but not really much else. And Switzer is the return guy who i think narrowly beats out Noah Brown for the last Wr spot.
I think they will draft a Wr late in the draft. And again my preference would be a guy like Antonio Collaway. He's got some red flags in the character dept, but Dallas did bring him in for the visit. My guess is to see where his head is. But this kid has the talent if he were to get his head on right that would take this offense to another level. Him in the slot with Ridley and Hurns outside. Would be a scary thing for defenses. The question is can he get his head right? So far his past says no. Another guy i like is Jaleel Scott. He needs probably a yr to develop before he gets any real time. But there something intriguing about him in the later rounds.
