Enjoyed your post, but I think Jones needs to play a position and stay at that position, no more position changes put him in one and leave him in one and leave him there.
No he didn't look that great as a CB today, but I think he could play CB better if that is what he played.
Hope you dont mind me piggy backing off your thread but I would like to share some observations as well:
-This is beaten to death but Escobar needs to be utilized more. He either towers over whoever is covering him or has the speed to blow right past them. Easy pitch and catch no matter how you look at it
-Did you guys see when the camera panned to the sidelines in the 4th quarter, our defense looked bored! They kinda had this confused look on their face because for once in the past 7 weeks, they were not being asked to play the entire 4th quarter hoping for a miracle. What was the result of that? Sacks in the 4th quarter to end the game.
-Its amazing how good Romo make his receivers look. Street with a first down catch after a vintage spin move, Beasely almost had a beautiful TD catch, even Williams got involved. Speaking of Williams, did you guys see him high point that touch down grab! For the past few weeks, it seems as though he would wait for the ball to come to him and that allows for INT or pass break ups but not today. Also, I got a good chuckle on the replay of his score showing the Marines attending the game all cheering when he caught it.
-I couldn't agree more about your statement of body language. Minus some coaching blunders today like the squib kick, our players executed their assignments at a much higher level with a higher success rate. I'm pretty sure this was 100% Romo. In the first quarter when Collins got a flag, the camera zoomed in on Romo and he had this look of disgust on his face. I'm positive he's in the huddle/sidelines calling people out if they're not doing what they're suppose to be. Loved the fact that he even coached up the defense towards the end before walking off the field.
-Lastly, gotta give credit to these announcers. They have been the most unbiased I have heard for this entire season. They didn't try to bring up any Greg Hardy issues, they didn't try to start any Dez drama, they simply called the game like they're suppose to. I love the fact that they called out the refs on phantom flags such as the holding penalty on Martin in the redzone or the celebration penalty on Dez/Twill. It was such a nice change not sitting through 3 hours of "there are no flags" every time we did something positive. Also nice to watch the game without having the need to call up that sleazeball Mike Pererra or whatever his name is or Blandino to explain a loophole in the rule book that only applies to the Cowboys.
it's my opinion that these guys are professionals and it should make no difference who is at the QB position. This team should have been playing just as hard for Weeden and Cassell as they seem to be doing with Romo. It's not like they were getting trounced with those two behind center. Both Weeden and Cassell for the most part kept them in the game until the final whistle.
Optimism alert, for the doom and gloom crowd stop reading, and go to the rant forum.
The body language of this team from the start was 180 from the previous games. This team got its leader back and they felt it, they showed it and the results showed it.
This defense wasnt out of gas and they showed up in the forth and put the game away. 3 sacks in the fourth quarter today. Dallas gave up 210 total offensive yrds. Even played really good on special teams except for that ugly attempt at a squib kick by Bailey. Have to wonder if he just hit it wrong.
Romo showed his rust early, but he got into a groove and kept it simple. As soon has he adjusted his sights and went throw the motions of the presnap he was very good. He put the NFCE on notice today that he is back. Think if this team gets a W on thursday they will end up in the playoffs.
Rolando McClain showed up today. that pick 6 was good but what made him stand out today was his play against the run and them screens. Plays he wasnt making he made them today. Huge game by him.
Hope Romo continues to use Escobar. Teams cant cover him with a LBer and DBs cant handle his size. He is a mismatch for this team and they dont use it. Thats a shame.
Turbin did good in spelling McFadden but McFadden is the guy in Dallas and he should be. he has 494yrds in the last 5 games. They will be a good 1-2 punch for the rest of the season.
Dallas OL had a up and down game against a very good phins DL. BUt when it mattered the OL dominated to put the game away with the run.
Today we saw Jones weakness is against the speed WRs. Which is why this team probably sees him as a slot CB and FS. He's going to have a good career playing FS.
I like this teams chances playing Carolina because they play the Cowboys style of football. PLay straight up football with no gimmicks. Carolina beats teams down by pounding them play after play. That plays into Dallas hands because Carolina doesnt have WRs who will beat you. They have OLsen but Dallas has held the top TEs in check the whole yr. If they want to beat Dallas their WRs are going to have to do it. Its going to be a very good game, and the storyline dont get any better either. Think the team who can get their WRs in the game the most will win. Ill take Dez, Witt, TW, Beasley over anything Carolina has.
Can't throw 2 picks again next week. Hope Tony has been studying Carolina film for the past several weeks. Tony will have to win through the air to give us a chance.
Star, Short, and CJ are very good but none of them are anywhere near the caliber of Suh as a run stopper. I like our guy's chances to run against them particularly with our middle 3.
thanks.
Ezekiel Elliot declared himself for the draft yesterday lol. I hope Dallas picks him up in the first round.
Agree on McFadden he gets better the longer he's involved in the game plan.
No thank you on a selfish ME player. Blasting his own coaches in college shows how dumb he is.
