I already did my last mock draft but I decided this would be interesting to make.. A top 3 targets for each round list. Each round depends a lot on what the team did the previous round so this allows me to focus purely on the prospects and not have to guess what the team did the previous round etc.

Keep in mind I wanted to be as realistic as possible so guys like Gurley and Bud Dupree did not make my list.

The targets are in no particular order.

I also tried to mostly use players the Cowboys have shown interest in.. There are a few exceptions.

Round 1:

Marcus Peters (CB, Washington) - Extremely competitive player...Competitiveness and confidence IMO are the most important traits in a CB (as long as you have the physical ability) and he has both of those in abundance... Can play in any scheme and plays with a chip on his shoulder.

Melvin Gordon (RB, Wisconsin) - Could be a great fit for our zone blocking scheme...Hard working guy that will do whatever it takes to be successful...Could start on day one and has a lot of ability.

Kevin Johnson (CB, Wake Forest) - Solid overall CB..Think he can start on day 1 if need be...Not elite in any one area but above average in all areas of the position.

Round 2:

TJ Yeldon (RB, Alabama) - One of my favorite players in the draft...Think he fits the Cowboys scheme to perfection...Can run inside and outside...Great pass blocker...Catches the ball extremely well.

PJ Williams (CB, Florida State) - Has fallen down the board for a variety of reasons mainly off the field...Is an explosive athlete who has good size for the position to go along with good ball skills and an aggressive on field demeanor

Bernardrick McKinney (OLB, Mississippi State) - I know a lot of people around here are not a fan but this team has not yet had a good SAM LB since moving to eh 4-3...McKinney could be that SAM LB and also be used as a pass rusher in certain situations...We have yet to see the best of this kid

Round 3:

Frank Clark (DE, Michigan) - Obviously this guy has off field issues but as far as value goes he is the best we can do to get a pass rusher in this draft...Would love a chance to get him here in the 3rd.

Josh Shaw (CB, USC) - To be honest I really didn't want to like this guy based on his off field incident and the way he comes off in interviews but I turned on the tape and hes a really good player...Super physical...Super smart....Super aggressive....Super competitive. I think he is going to be a really good player.

Tre McBride (WR, William and Mary - Hopefully the taste of BW Webb is out of the Cowboys mouth and they are ready to try again with a William and Mary player... McBride has speed and can play both inside and out...Could compete with Terrance Williams on day 1.

Round 4:

Chris Conley (WR, Georgia) - Conley can blow the top of the defense easily and the Cowboys haven't had someone like that in quite some time...Have to consider him here in the 4th

Chaz Green (OT, Florida) - Potential swing tackle..Has been injury prone in the past...Cowboys have shown interest and he does have upside.

Taiwon Jones (OLB, Michigan State) - Another big and physical SAM LB candidate..Really like this kid...I think he has a future in the league for sure.

Round 5:

Tray Walker (CB, Texas Southern) - My favorite later round player in the draft...Plays with confidence and swagger and at 6'3 he has the size and length you dream of in a starter CB..also has good ball skills..Really hoping the Cowboys can get him.

Karlos Williams (RB, Florida State) - An example of a player I think will be a better pro than he was a college player... could be a kick and punt returner as well...Has a ton of upside.

Stefon Diggs (WR, Maryland) - Also can be a KR/PR.. great with the ball in his hands.. Not sure how the Cowboys would get him on the field seeing as he would have to be a slot guy and they have Beasley but I think he is worth a look.

Round 7:

Chris Hackett (FS, TCU) - Combine numbers were terrible but tape was really good.. Would be a good special teams player and possibly an upgrade over Jeff Heath as the backup FS.

Josh Bredl (DT, CSU Pueblo) - Physical freak. 6'6 300 and runs a 5.1... Give this guy to Marinelli and see what happens

Laurence Gibson (OT, Virginia) - Another potential swing tackle that the Cowboys have shown some interest in.

Mine looks much different, but you have a very good board.

1 point, it seems Gibson has been moving up a tad. Dont know if he will be available in the 7th

Yeah, a fellow Tre McBride, Josh Shaw and Stefon Diggs fan!

I like it. I am hoping Tray Walker might be an easy priority UDFA but it's probably wishful thinking. I think Chris Hackett will be a gimme if he goes undrafted. Josh Bredl sounds interesting.

I think mine would swap out Karlos Williams for Matt Jones of Florida. I see a lot of MBIII in Jones. The kind of back Parcells or Belichick drafts. I do think Karlos has a higher ceiling though.

Off the Diggs bandwagon, too much other WR talent, see the two from Georgia Tech (Smelter and Waller). IMO
Tre McBride nice player with few holes in talent would add to talent pool of boys. this is a really good player.

Marcus Peters CB has the talent just not sure how we deal with the anger issues he has portrayed with coaching staff.

Melvin Gordon not convinced about him in our scheme of offense. Would have no problem with some of the lower rated RB's like Yeldon, Johnson, Davis, Allen.

Nice job very nice.
