Before my flight back to Virginia after Thanksgiving, my family and I decided to take the tour of Cowboys Stadium.
The tour wasn't cheap... $17 for adults, around $15 for kids... but it was definitely worth it. It was a great tour, especially since we got to go down on the field.
It was a great time, and something I definitely recommend!
Our tour guide was pretty knowledgeable. There was a lot of stuff she said that was very familiar to anyone who's paid attention to the construction of the stadium, but also some stuff I had never heard before.
I asked her about whether or not the board had been raised since the early games and she said, other than the U2 concert, it had not... that it was still at 90 feet.
After looking at my pictures from my seats, I'm still not convinced... I'm sure it has been raised a few feet... but it's clear that the official company line is that it was never raised.
The field was being ripped up and replaced with a special field for the Big XII Championship game while we were there. They said initially that we wouldn't be allowed to have field access, but in the end we were, which was very cool.
Inside one of the luxury suites. They're huge and very nice. I've been inside the suites at FedEx Field and these blow them away.
They have glass windows which is weird because the climate is always pretty nice in the stadium, and I can't imagine watching the game behind glass. But we were told that the windows do open. If there is a "wine and cheese" crowd at the stadium, this is definitely where they sit! Apparently Jerry's suite holds over 300 people.
This one might be a bit complicated to explain, but I'll try.
Obviously this is the Rangers' stadium. But if you look at the window panel on the far left hand side, on the horizon in the space between the roller coaster and the edge of the Rangers' stadium, you can see Texas Stadium. It's about the size of a grain of rice in this picture, but when you're there you can see it quite well.
The locker room!
The kids and me at Romo's and Witten's lockers.
A little eye-candy for all the Buehler-ites.
Doing the Keith Brooking sack-celebration!
I flipped my cap Romo-style for this pic at the post-game interview table. :
The players' entrance to the field through the Miller Lite Club.
Jerry Jones' private elevator that takes him from his suite directly to the field. His private parking area is directly behind it, seen through the door on the right hand side.
In the bowels of Cowboys Stadium, walking towards the entrance to the field.
Definitely the best part of the tour!
The view from underneath the giant video board. While we were there, we got to see the elevator come down that takes workers up inside the world's largest television!
And the capper of the tour... the Cheerleaders' locker room!
Here's where they keep all the extra turf for the various fields they have.
Cowboys' Christmas Tree outside the Pro Shop.
Anyway, hope everyone enjoyed the pics. If anyone wants to look at the others I took, there here at my Facebook album:
