Disappointed we are done but I was proud of the way we kept fighting back. We lost to a better team tonight period. It happens. The future is bright. Here’s what I see

QB. Dak is the future. I’m not interested in a debate about it. It’s going to happen. He played well enough to win last night and the team follow him.

RB. Zeke is fine. Two rushing titles in 3 years. Should be 3 for 3. Backups are fine for as little as they play. I would however invest in a real fullback. That 49 guy is worthless.

WR. Cooper was worth the trade and the contract he will get. He and Gallup should develop into one of the best tandems in the league. After that it’s dicey. Obviously Williams is gone and I suspect Beasley is as well. Brown is a nice piece and maybe Wilson as well. Hurns is an unknown. Some attention is needed here but not as much as other positions

TE. Rico needs to go. It’s time. And I would let Swaim walk. Jarwin and Schultz are fine but we will need a third and I suspect it will be a veteran blocking type

OL. This one is weird. Could be complete status quo or a major turnover. I’m betting in status quo. They keep Colombo and let him continue what he started. I think all 5 starters are back and we are MUCH better up front next year. Having Beard back will be huge. And I’m probably in the minority on this but I just think Connor is going to be really good after a year in the weight room. I would leave him at LG and start looking for Collins replacement at RT

DL Another hard one. I try to trade Taco at the draft. He is done here. Obviously good riddance to Irving. Gregory is a great story, hopefully he stays clean. No real worries with Crawford, Collins and Woods but last night showed we need to get better in the middle. The real dilemma is what to do with Lawrence? He’s way too inconsistent for me to give him a max deal. I don’t but the shoulder injury excuse cause he chose not to have it fixed a year ago. Does he sit out if franchise him again? Giving him a huge deal just scares me. Good player but not sure he is a great one

LB. sadly it is time for Lee to move on or take a major pay cut to stay on as a reserve/mentor. Our system has us in two LB’s most of the time and boy howdy are we set for the future with Jaylon and LVE. Let Wilson walk and hope for a comp pick. Use some late picks on backups and ST types

CB status quo unless they move Lewis. The top three are set although Byron remains overrated. I’m glad we picked up the 5th year option and we will see how it goes but right now I let him walk next year

S. Paging Earl Thomas. We simply cannot have Heath as a starter next year. I think Earl will come at a decent price with his age and recent injuries. But he would be a huge upgrade and I think this will happen. Still not sure if Woods is any good but one switch at a time

ST I would replace both Maher and Jones. Maher is too shaky and Jones too expensive and seems in decline

Coaching. Much like Dak it’s not worth the debate. Red is our coach going forward. I fully expect Richard to be named DC. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a new ST coach and maybe a new OL. Major question of course is OC. Just don’t see Linehan coming back. So the major question is will Garrett think outside the box and turn it over to a “stranger” or just hand it off to someone else he is comfortable with.

So folks, til next year. I enjoy the hell out of this place. Be safe out there.

Dak didnt have room for error and the few errors he made with inaccurate passing where costly. Goff made errors too but he had plenty of room for error and his errors where not costly.

Goff will have to be more error free vs NO or Philly.

I agree on almost all points. The one difference is Earl Thomas. We need more help at safety but unless Earl wants to come way down on his price I'm not very interested. We can't pay top dollar for a safety who only plays half a season. I would also say keep the offensive line together. Add in a Pro Bowl center (assuming Frederick returns) and we're good to go.

Excellent post and I agree for the most part. Not sure now about ET with those injuries but I guess if the price is right, it’s definitely an upgrade. I think we keep Maher and it would be nice to steal Seattle’s punter.

Teams that had success against the rams let gurly run some and focused on goff. That’s the game plan we went with and it was a bad idea. We let them run more than some. They got huge chunks. If you notice every time we got remotely close to goff he made really bad passes.

We should have did us. Stopped the run first. I haven’t looked back at the game and probly won’t but there had to be some major holding going on that oline. No way after all year that we magically couldn’t stuff the run.

They also need to change the rules about teams being able to interview coaches for jobs while the team is still playing the season. Richard showed some fire on the sidelines and will likely stay as DC.

Linehan is done. His game plan and play calling has been nit so great. But I don’t blame him for the loss. That last 4 down play where Elliot missed a hole killed us. Took the last air out.

O-Line will be improved this off season. Another year left with Elliot and Dak. Secondary is good enough. Need to look at safety position.

I have no problem with pretty much what you said. I do hope for ET also but he plays FS which is the same as Woods. Heath would still be your starter unless they add a SS some how.

We had no run game to lean on and of all games we chose this one to allow a team to run. Bad game plan. We should have sold out to the run. I saw some holding on there line not called but not all night. Our Defense just gave up after the first quarter. The first quarter I was thinking we would win with a big 4th quarter run but our D was exhausted.

I do not trade Taco. RM is like JG takes him years to figure out how to use a player. Jones comes to mind, and that was Richard. RM is as much a clown as JG, SL and KM.

Good assessment.

I agree Opey ain't going anywhere. I've wanted him gone for years. In his defense, I think he's doing a lot better.

Definitely need a monster DT, & a legit Safety. Although, I'm not convinced ET is the answer, mostly because of the price he'll demand. If he's willing to come in at a "prove it" year price, he might be a temporary answer. Long term, we need to draft a beast safety.

I worry about us overpaying DLaw as well. He's good but, he's not worth elite money in my opinion. Name the last game he took over..? Elite money needs to be reserved for game changing players. Remember, Zeke, Dak, & Coop, are ALL gonna get paid fat.

No single thing can improve our offense more than a sharp OC. I believe we are way more capable with the talent we have, if only used properly. The window is small though. If we don't pull it off next year, I fear we'll be in purgatory forever. Our hands are going to be tied by the salary cap again soon.

Best to wait on resigning DAK...lets see what a new OC can do first

Only interested in E. Thomas if the deal is right...... getting older and coming off a bad injury and on the downside of his career.

Some people want to trade TACO.....cant do that until the figure out what to do with DLAW.... He will be a Cowboy

Who do you pay, BJones, DLAW, Cooper, Beasely,

BIGGEST concern is who do you want as OC... ....????

I would not retain JG, of course all of this is our speculation, JJ will do whatever he wants to do. I would hold off one more year on Dak, since we don't have to pay him next year, leaving room for other signings. Zeke, with the bruising he takes I would hold off on him also, don't we get an option year for him since he was a 1st round pick? That would get us 2 more years with him. Lawrence, I'm wondering how much his second half let has to do with his injury, I would pay him top 15 money, not top 5. We need to add a big time run stuffer at DT through the draft or FA.

On offense, a new OC and getting Freebeard, plus a good backup RB, we can work with that with some creativity hopefully with the new OC.

Make JG a GM, kinda like the speculation thread Stash put up the other day, promote Richard and get a bright young mind at OC.

Good post. My own 2 cents:

Rico is not worth the conversation. He did not make a difference in the game either way last night. The focus has to be on the bigger issues first. The middle of the defensive line got blown out -again. That was a big problem.

I agree on safety. Heath shows flashes but then brain farts. He takes awful angles at RBs and misses tackles. How he let Goff get outside for that 1st down to end the game is beyond me but at that point they were so focused on Gurley and Anderson it clearly never occurred to them that Goff would run.

Dak started hot then for whatever reason he just lost it badly. He threw some passed, like that near pick 6, that were simply head scratchers. At that point in the game the Rams were scoring every time they had the ball. FGs at first but Dallas had to answer and with no ability to run the ball, it was up to Dak to make the plays to keep the ball and drive for something. He threw some wild passes, missed open receivers and failed to make any plays. But then he came back in the second half to do some really good things. Perhaps experience will reduce those off moments he has.

I am tired of the negative DLaw stuff. The guy is double and triple teams every play. Put a DT next to him who demands attention and Dlaw will be a monster. This is why I was looking for David Irving. I get it. He is not committed to football or something. But they need him the way he was playing to help that defensive line. If not him they better find someone else. If they don;t have DLaw then what? Taco and Gregory? How is that better. They have no first round draft pick. And their first pick in the draft will be around the 60th player taken. They are not solving the problem in the draft and they don;t sign free agents so they have to pay DLaw.

Jerry has to recognize that Garrett is not the answer because his overall strategy is not the answer. There are times when he wakes up and allows some well designed plays to put his team in a position to succeed. But most of the time he think the "line up and beat your guy" strategy is the best. The problem is other teams are playing the strategy of using smarts as well as line up and beat your guy which puts them in a better position to succeed. The Rams simply out coached and outprepared the Cowboys last night. Garrett is the problem because of his overall strategy which is not really a strategy. Garrett and Linehan have to go if this team is going to win a SuperBowl. I don not think it is possible to accumulate enough talent on one team to win with Garrett's philosophy.
