I am leaning towards keeping 6 WRs,we have to look beyond this season and Chris Boyd is intriguing and he is having a good camp even though he missed all of last year.I also dont see the point of having Hayden and Bishop both make the team.

I didn't want to keep Hayden on here to be honest but with everything I am hearing and reading the team really likes him. Bishop is a good player with a bright future so I don't see them letting him go either. With the rotation that they want to get going it won't be a bad idea to keep two guys like this around in my opinion

As far as keeping 6 WR's I really considered that but it came down to either a 4th RB or a 6th WR... I could get on board with either but I think they have a bigger investment in Randle than they do in any of the remaining WR's... Murray will be gone at the end of the year most likely so they aren't going to want to let go of Randle if they still have hope for him

If their gearing up the run the ball I can see them keeping Copeland.
Ben Gardner is a difficult choice injured are not.

At least at this point, I'm liking the linebacker group on roster. If Rolando McClain works out, this could be a foundation group come upon next year's return of Sean Lee. The depth will have been proven out by that point as well.

I don't think we keep four backs, so that spot will either go to a fullback or tight end. Then you probably need to add Parnell, Lawrence (who won't go on IR because that would keep him out until Week 6) and Ben Bass. That would give us 11 DL, which is a little heavy, so I could see Bishop going on the practice squad and his spot maybe going to a linebacker like Will Smith (or Orie Lemon or Cameron Lawrence) or CB Sterling Moore.

I'm not sure about Dixon either at this point (I'd probably keep a sixth receiver over him). It'll be interesting to see if Dartwan Bush and Ben Gardner can work their way into contention for a spot as well.

I think Dallas will find a practice squad spot for G Brian Clarke, too, based on reports on his play, and I think consistency will keep Chris Jones on the roster ahead of Mandell.

Briscoe, Newsome, and Byrd are all showing well and worth watching.

Injuries are still ahead, so some of these guys will be gone. That's why I don't like these projections early in camp.

Unless Randle is a better special teams guy than I'm aware of I doubt he makes the roster. Especially not being particularly good at blocking or receiving.

And what's the status on Gardner's injury? If he's healthy within the next couple of weeks I see him making the roster after Lawrence's injury.

The active roster has 53 players so you need three more.

That's good because he is missing at least one WR and perhaps two OL.

I also think Hayden Webb, Durant, and Dixon will have a tough time making the team.

Yea I left 3 spots empty purposely because I wanted to save 3 spots for guys to make the team but then I forgot about it and posted it lol and I can't get back in an edit it

Lawrence to IR? Is that using our one IR - designated to return? If not, no way Lawrence goes to IR in my opinion.

That would be silly - he'd have to miss far more time. Shorter term injuries are exactly why you have game day inactives

I like to determine the high probabilities and then look at the remaining open spots.

If Lawrence is put on the designated-for-return IR, he has to be on the 53 on the cut-down date, and then can be moved to dfr-IR at which time another player can be brought back.

Top 19 offense:
QB: Tony Romo, Brandon Weeden

RB: Demarco Murray, Lance Dunbar, Ryan Williams

TE: Jason Witten, Gavin Escobar, James Hannah

WR: Dez Bryant, Terrence Williams, Cole Beasley, Dwayne Harris, Devin Street

OG: Zack Martin, Mackenzy Bernadeau, Ronald Leary

C: Travis Frederick

OT: Tyron Smith, Doug Free

Top 22 defense:
DT: Henry Melton, Terrell McClain, Davon Coleman

DE: George Selvie, Tyrone Crawford, Jeremy Mincey, Demarcus Lawrence

LB: Bruce Carter, Rolando McClain, Justin Durant, Kyle Wilber, Devonte Holloman, Anthony Hitchens

CB: Brandon Carr, Morris Claiborne, Orlando Scandrick, Terrence Mitchell

S: Barry Church, JJ Wilcox, Jakar Hamilton, Jeff Heath

ST 3:
K(1): Dan Bailey

P(1): Cody Mandell

LS(1): LP Ladouceur

IR/PUP: Anthony Spender (DE),

9 spots from the following (a 10th player can be brought back if Lawrence is moved to dfr-IR):
Joseph Randle, Ben Malena (zero or 1)
Chris Boyd, Byrd, L'Damian Washington, Briscoe, Jamar Newsome (zero or 1)
Klutts, Copeland (1)
Uche Nwaneri, Darrion Weems (1 or 2)
Dustin Vaughn (zero)

Sterling Moore, B.W Webb, Tyler Patmon, Dashaun Phillips (1)
Ahmad Dixon, Ryan Smith (zero or 1)
Martez Wilson, Ben Gardner, Dartwan Bush, Caesar Rayford (1 or 2)
Will Smith, Cameron Lawrence (zero or 1)
Ben Bass, Ken Bishop, Nick Hayden (2)

Yes, they have to stay out for 8 weeks once place on the dfr-IR.

The dfr-IR is best to use early in the season. If they wait until min-season to put somebody on it and then wait 8 weeks, the season is over. Also, there are likely to be injuries during the season which free up roster spots anyway.
