I haven't done one since free agency started so I figure now is a good time to update it.
1(22) Robert Meachem WR Tennessee- Excellent size/speed combo that would be a welcomed addition to our WR corps. TO and Glenn are both getting up there in age and Crayton might leave after this year. Austin and Hurd both have potential, but were UDFAs and shouldn't be looked at as the future just yet.
2(53) Eric Wright CB UNLV- He has some character concerns, but before the BP era Jones liked to make gambles like this. Wright has tremendous speed and skills, but is still quite inexperienced. Glenn is old and has been exposed. Jones and Reeves haven't stepped up to challenge the 3rd CB spot, so Wright can come in and gain experience while playing the nickel CB position.
3(87) Doug Free OT NIU- Was viewed as one of the top OTs heading into the season, but he was slowed by a foot injury throughout most of the season. Needs some time to get stronger, but his footwork and athleticism project well at LT in the NFL.
4(118) Brian Robison LB/DE Texas- Combine results were similar to Ware's. Played LB early in college before switching to DE, so his transition back shouldn't be too hard. We need another pass rusher opposite Ware and no one is sure where Carpenter will play, so Robison should be a good value here.
5(149) Kelly Talavou DT Utah- Soliai gets the attention because he's faster and has more upside, but Talavou was more productive, more experienced, and stronger than Soliai.
6(180) Laurent Robinson WR Illinois St.- Relatively unknown before running one of the fastest 40-yard dash times at the combine. He's got good hands, and runs good routes, but his level of competition was low and he's still quite raw.
6(185) Kyle Young OL Fresno St- Once a top prospect, Young was suspended this past year, has let his weight balloon up to 354lb, and ran a 5.6 40-yard dash at his pro day (was not even invited to the combine). If he gets back on track he could be a good C/G backup, but if not there is no huge loss here.
7(193) LaRon McClain FB Alabama- Good lead blocker, and also provides a receiving threat out of the backfield.
7(215) Jeff Rowe QB Nevada- Good arm strength and accuracy, but is prone to throw INTs. Definitely a project, but will provide a decent 3rd QB.
7(218) Courtney Brown CB Cal Poly- A workout warrior that really shot up after his pro day where he ran his 40 in the low-4.3's and had a 41.5in vertical. He's a converted WR with good ball skills and a knack for making big plays, but he is still very raw.
