MY ORIGINAL
McFadden was drafted prior to our pick so we traded down and added an early second rounder.

1A - WR Adarius Bowman - Ok St
1B - CB Chevis Jackson - LSU
2A - DT Frank Okam - UT
2B - RB Rashard Mendenhall - Illinois
3 - CB Dominique Rhodes-Cromartie - Tenn St
4 - RB Yvenson Bernard - Or St
5 - OC Doug Legursky - Marshall
6 - OLB Brandon Miller - Georgia
7 - QB Josh Johnson - San Diego

UPDATED 10/20/07
I am still hoping Cleveland will begin to suck and thus give us a top 5 pick, then we can trade down to about 10-12 and get a 2008 2nd and 2009 4th. Also, this mock is made with the presumption that Tank pans out for us, and if so, that would give us Fergie, a young Ratliff, and a young Tank. There is no need to draft a DT.

1A - DE Chris Long - UVA
Size,Tough, Strong, Intelligent, Physical, Nonstop Motor, Pedigree.....This kid is the complete package. I would love to see him on the same side as Ware. Who are they going to block, Long or Ware?

1B - CB Mike Jenkins - USF
A physical CB. He blankets his man, but also finds a way to be around the ball.

2A - CB Dwight Lowery - SJSU
A very good CB prospect. Has been a ballhawk thus far in college. He is also a very good KR.

2B - WR Limas Sweed - UT
Definitely has first round talent, however, the wrist injury that ended his senior season causes his stock to drop.

4 - RB Yvenson Bernard - Or St
A complete RB. He runs strong. He is a downhill runner. He is one of the best receiving backs in the nation.

5 - OC Doug Legursky - Marshall
Gurode needs a backup and this kid looks to be a mauler

6 - OLB Brandon Miller - Georgia

7 - QB Josh Johnson - San Diego

I know it's en vogue to have us drafting a defensive player right now. Especially a CB.

But, I don't think that's necessary right now.

We have yet to see our full compliment of DBs on the field. Newman is a great CB. Henry is solid. Right now, I think we could probably solve any deficiencies in the defensive backfield via FA.

People are pressing the panic button when it comes to our secondary. We really need to be patient here. I really don't see one guy that's draft eligible right now, that is worth plucking with a draft pick in the top fifteen. If we did draft a CB high, I seriously doubt they'd start ahead of Henry. I think you're right to wait until a later pick in round one....or even round two.

I don't think our DL has played badly. I wouldn't say no to Long.....but I think we can do better.

I feel we have more immediate needs on offense. Namely, RB and WR. We'll not have the dynamic duo next year. Both JJ and Barber are FA. The only RB that's any good in FA is Turner, but I don't think he'll be worth the high price he'll command (I also don't think he's worthy of blowing high DPs on). Barber is a fine player, but is he ready to be a full-time starter?

Owens, Glenn, and Crayton make up one of the best WRs corps in the NFL. But Owens will be 35(?), and Glenn more than likely is done. Will we be willing to pay Crayton a huge salary considering we'll have to pay Romo, Newman (he'll need an extension), and MBIII or JJ?

So our RBs will probably be: MBIII/Thompson
I'm not real comfortable with this. I think we need some help here. Maybe we won't need a McFadden, but we do need something here.

Our WRs will probably be: Owens, Crayton, Hurd
They're cutting it right now, but Owens is getting older, and will be in the final year of his deal. WRs usually are slow to develop, we have to be ready for the day that we no longer want to pay TO a huge deal. I like how you have us getting Sweed.

I really think we can get McFadden with our first pick. Most of us still think of him as the number one pick in waiting. I doubt it. Most of the teams that will be picking high don't need a RB....or need a QB.

I can see McFadden being available in picks 5-8 (remember, AP went with pick seven).

If we have a choice betweeen drafting a dynamic player like McFadden, or a good CB....we need to draft McFadden.

im not panicking on our CB......Henry is brittle. He always seems to get hurt. Newman is 30. Reeves has stepped up this year. So there are 3 CBs.....beyond them, we have nothing of significance. We are hearing good things about Ball, but he is still an unknown. Brown has been moved to S.

I just see a very CB rich crop this year and we should take advantage and grab 2 of them if possible.
