Every year for fun I have enjoyed making my NFL picks for the Dallas Cowboys and have had a great success rate in choosing these picks including a Draft I made several years ago that was posted by the DMN which included Randy Moss, Ahman Green and Brian Griese for the Boyz.

This year I've done my draft based on a trade in the 1st Round with Denver.

Cowboys: Trade 2006 #18 Selection and 2007 2nd Round and 4th Round Picks to Denver

Broncos: Trade 2006 #22 and #29 to Dallas

Dallas Selections:

1a) Manny Lawson, OLB, 6-5, 245 lbs

1b) Ko Simpson, FS, 6-1, 201 lbs

2) Nick Mangold, C, 6-4, 300 lbs

3) Ryan O'Callaghan, OT, 6-7, 360 lbs

This gives the Cowboys two mainstays on the Offensive Line for years with Mangold and O'Callaghan. Manny Lawson is a play making OLB that coupled with Ware gives the Cowboys two outside pass rushers that could create havic for QB's Ko Simpson is a real complement to Roy Williams in the Boyz Secondary.

Don't know that Mangold will last that long, but I would take it

O'Callaghan - Hopefully we learned our lesson with Rogers. Four shoulder surgeries.

No thanks.

No chance in hell Denver would do that trade even if it were a 2006 2nd rounder.

I like the looks of your draft. Would probably substitute Carpenter for Lawson but would be happy with those picks either way.

I've actually read that Denver was interested in trading their two firsts since they didn't have a lot of money to sign picks.

I think they are a VERY good candidate to trade with and moving down that many spots in the first is about a perfect fit for us.

Lawson and Simpson in the first would be outstanding.
Could also be Lawson and either Holmes or Jackson
Or Lawson and either McNeil or Jean-Gilles
or Lawson and another trade down.

I would look at Stovall and Moss in the second if no WR in the first.
I would might also look at G Davin Joseph in the second.
I would also look for Jason Allen in the second if no FS in the first.

I'm pretty sold on Lawson in the first now that we signed Ayodele. Lawson gives us a playmaker opposite Ware.
We'll obviously take a OL at some point in the first day.
We'll probably also look for a WR and FS on day 1.
I think on Day 2, we'll be looking for another LB and some OL.

Mangold isnt making it past Miami in the 2nd. They dont even have a Center currently.
He'll probably go in the first anyway.

If I could pull that trade off, I would draft: (this draft is based on us getting T.O. and using Fabini at RT & Kosier at Guard) I had to re-edit after seeing we just picked up Fabini

1.WR - Santonio Holmes
1.OLB - M.Lawson
2.FS - J.Allen
3. RT - A.Whitworth

OLine solidified:
Fabini or Whitworth/Rivera/Gurode or Johnson/L.A. or Kosier/Flo

LB core solidified:
Ware/James/Ayodele/Lawson

Secondary solidified:
Newman/Henry/Allen/Williams

Kicker solidified:
in FA - Vanderjagt

WR solidified:
T.O./Glenn/Crayton/Holmes/Copper or some scrubb

A draft like that would make me soil myself.

ditto, and that's after the first three picks alone...
Jason Allen at FS would be a bigtime pick.
He's going to go much lower than his value because of the injury but the guy is a playmaker. Could even end up being the best DB in the draft. I rank up right there with Huff.

Mangold could easily be off the board by the time we pick, if not, he's one guy that could easily be a target for teams to move up.

If we could pull off that trade I could see us taking 2 OL. McNeil and Jean-Giles would really help solidify the line for a long long time. I still doubt we would be able to pull that trade off.
