Kendricks is due for a big pay day soon. I am not giving up a 2nd rounder on a guy who is a free agent and could end up getting overpaid.

Frankly, with cap implications in mind, I'd rather take the chance on the younger brother and his rookie contract.

Furthermore, I am not about to give the Eagles more ammunition (2nd rounder) in their quest to get the perfect QB for their system - Mariota.

Eric Kendricks for peanuts on a 4-5 year deal > Bigger bro on a 1 year contract

I think if Kendricks slips to the mid-late 2nd we'd make a move to trade up. Wouldn't wanna see us take him at #27 though.

Is there another brother out there? Maybe they can just grab the three of them and have an all Kendricks Linebacking core!

I also had that in mind. But with Lee and McClain as forever questions we have a proven backup plan especially if those two don't pan out this season or for the next years. like I said, I'd pay for the proven brother who's only missed 6 games in 3 seasons. Sure beats out our injury concerns at LB.

A big payday for a linebacker isn't very debilitating.

One reason Philly is apparently willing to move him is that the coaching staff thought he was soft last year and nursed his injury. They also don't think he's an ideal fit as an inside 3-4 LB. Given that, they want to get something for him before having to cut him loose as a free agent in a year.

He's not worth a 2nd rounder at this point given you could lose him in a year.

Philly isn't trading him to us

No shot

Chip Kelly would trade his grandmother and his soul to us if it meant helping him get a player he wanted.

Furthermore...the eagles have traded with us in past...We traded with them to move up and get Anthony Spencer.

Exactly. If Chip needed a second rounder this year to sweeten the deal for Mariota, and we were willing to do the deal, he'd do it in a heartbeat.

In what way is that similar to trading one of your best players to a division rival?

Bc it's not at all

This seems like a no brainer for me. Mychal for a 2nd! Do it! Go with the proven more athletic older brother. The Eagles seem to be gifting their players. Maybe we can even get him for a 3rd. It's just a rumor but what say you?

You are giving up a 2nd for 1 year of that player. You could just sign a free agent if you're going to spend the money required to re-sign him.

The Cowboys played in the Nickel 66% of the snaps last season. There are only 2 LBs in the Nickel. The Cowboy have Lee and Hardy as the top 2 LBs and many options behind them. Hitchens is a solid player that can play all 3 positions He was a quality starter as a rookie. He will only get better. Brinkley and Gachkar are quality backups and 1000x better than previous backups like Cam Lawrence. Even the and of the roster LBs Rivers and Watson would likely start on some teams if healthy.

The Cowboys could just sign Mychal Kendricks in 2016 as a free agent. He's unlikely to be franchised, IMO. Pass rushing OLB in the 3-4 drive up the Franchise Tag for LBs to a level above what most 4-3 LBs get paid.

They will trade if it gets chip his man.

If you can not understand that...that is on you.

If you can not understand that trading picks so a rival can move up to get a man they like is not the similar at all to trading a player to a rival...again...that is on you.

Let me make it easier...Not only have they traded picks to help a division rival get a better player in the draft...they have traded a player to a division rival in the past as well.

So much for they would not trade to a divisional rival when their history says other wise.

That help you?

Understand the difference between one of the best players on the team and one of the worst?
